    @itspilar passe means to pass, for example passe a terre, (going from tendu devant through first to tendu derriere) a retire is the position at the knee, a "passe" is if you are changing from the front of the knee to the back of the knee and closing. It is one of the most common term missuses. the position passe is technically called retire

    I'm working on my tilts as well and so far all I can do is a kick tilt. I recommend working on your split e.g. Doing over splits. Do core strengthening exercises to tighten up your core which helps to control and balance. Try doing developpes everyday, going as far as you can and increasing the height each day. Try doing leg workouts to gain muscle.

    in order to do a strong tilt, you need to have strong quadriceps (muscle on the front of your thigh) and abs. In order to gain muscle for quads, you could try all forms of squats and plies. There are some exercises that combine jumps with deep plies that are excellent for control and strength. In my personal experience, the best exercise for this kind of pose (a tilt) is power yoga. It will strengthen literally every muscle in your body and create resistance. For yoga, check out Rodney Yee.

    Try doing sit ups and push ups everyday and you will see a difference. When going into your tilt and when your leg starts to extend out from posse, squeeze you stomach hard and this should help you leg stay up there long enough. You can also start by holding your leg first and then letting go of it. Hope this helps! :)

    Old your leg extension up high as it can go then let it go and leave in the air for as long as you can go after a while you build up the muscles on your legs for a tilt and do a leg extensions with out any hands hope this helps :)

    thats so awesome!! im able to do the one where you know you go down on the floor you put your two hands out in front of you you go on your two with the leg thats down and then you bring up the other leg and there you have it a tilt

    @Jaybabii2 Standing leg lifts are really good for strength and splits for range of motion and flexibility :)

    You need to do hip flexor strengtheners. Simple V stis, leg lifts with each leg while sitting front and side. Something as simple as just holding your leg in the a la seconde position and letting go for 8-16 counts minimal. Also, all ballet exercises used these muscles so I would take extra ballet.

    if you want to have a straight 180 tilt you need to have your middle splits. my hip just aren't made for middle splits(yes my sides are super flexible) so it is always 160/170 degree forward rather than just straight. i can do a tilt because i have muscles to stay there but it just isn't straight. do realise you have to have your middle splits to have a straight tilt

    @pandaxseal3 You need to build your core and thigh strength as it's your stomach that helps you keep the 'shape' of the tilt, and your thighs that act as stilts while your leg's up there. I have all 4 full splits but I can't get my attempt as tilts much higher than 90 degrees.

    Wow people watch a tv series and act like they know what they are talking about come guys the tilt she is explaining is right the reason it looks weird of because of the angle of the camera she is explain everything correctly and it does come to passe and slowly lifts up in a tilt

    to get strong legs, lift your leg in develope to a la seconde or whatever and hold it there for maybe 10 seconds. it will probably hurt the first time, but it will make your legs stronger. then also do stuff like that with ankle weights. haha i hope that makes sense but i do that and my legs are really strong now. doing ballet at the barre would also help.

    Also, after you have let go dont just drop it, lower it very slowly to the floor with control.

    @doggielover3001 You have to be flexible. You should have your middle splits. But you also have to be strong enough to bring your leg up high.

    Just practice from doing it as high as you can. If you are flexible enough it shouldn't take that much muscle because your bones are all aligned and most of the weight you are holding up goes straight down into the floor. Hope this makes sense :)

    You need to strengthen your core, and your hip flexers. Do sit ups, crunches, and also lie on the ground, and lift your lefts together up and down slowly. Also, stretch your oversplits

    Someone please help me! This video only gives the placement of a tilt, but I already know that therefore it does not help me. I am flexible, I can do left, right, and middle splits, and I can do a right leg extension to my head (while holding it of course). I NEED MUSCLE!! Could someone please tell me how to gain muscle for a tilt, and what muscles are needed to be strengthened? That would really help me, and all dancers watching this video!

    Hi I have all my splits (left right and center), and I'm dying for 180 degree extension or more, but I'm stuck at 160/150 degrees. I do a lot of strengthening exercises ("clams," abs, thighs, calfs, and ankles) but for some reason I can't seem to get my leg any higher. Please help!

    Yeah this is a common question but I'm pretty flexible, I mean I have all my splits (right, left, center) and everything, but I've only been dancing for about five years and I'd love for my extension to be higher because its still at about 160 degrees and I dream of 180 degree extension....please any advice!!!? I do frequent strengthening exercises ("clams," tons of ab work, and lots of calf and thigh stuff) but still haven't been able to get it.....

    I was just wondering, if you do not have your middle splits, can you do this? I have HORRBLE turn out because of a past knee injury that stops me from going any further. Same thing with middle splits. But I've gotten really high and I can almost do a tilt, is flexbility a necassaity for this?

    Is it possible to do a tilt without being able to do a straddle split ? cuz being able to do a front split doesn't mean you can do a straight scorpion and such :/

    practice doing developpes a la seconde (to the side) and lift it as high as you can so that you can gain muscle :) that's reli helped me

    This didn't explain anything it shows how to do a tilt but what are some tips and how to stretch to get into these tilts because to do a tilt it's like a split in the air sooo.......I really need help and you need to explain more!~LILI

    u dont really need muscle u need to be flexible enough to sit into ur hip and hold it there, thats how i was taught

    i know how u fell try when you go into a posse srry cant spell um but when u go in a posse just keeping your leg up and turning and try to hold it for about 20-30 secs and then slowly let go it will slightly fall but keep doing that and in aproxamtly 4-5days you will have your tilt trust me im a company dancer and this vid dont help if i had a cam i would do a tutrial but i dnt srry but good luck

    @shyannelikestodance no because you need leg strength not necassarily your middle split. i have a perfect middle split and i cant do a tilt for my life. my other friend cant to a middle split and ahe can do a tilt

    its a retire NOT a passe, it would be a passe if you were going from front fifth then up and over to close fifth in back, it is a retire if it is just one side at the knee.

    nope defenitly not. and the reason u cant do a straight scorpian when u have ur right and left splits is because u need mostly lots of back flex.
