  • Here's a little compilation of the footage shown of the morning of January 2nd, 1969 - the first rehearsals at Twickenham. This covers the DDSI span of the very start of the tape "Dialogue and Slates" through to Don't Let Me Down 2.22 - essentially until shortly after 11:00. There are a few clips with missing audio, as unfortunately the Nagra tapes cut frequently at this stage. I've got a decent part of the video from this date complete, but still plenty of work to do. I will keep you all updated. Enjoy!
(one sequence of Mal and Kevin moving the Beatles drumhead had to be removed due to copyright)

For a musician like me, the way I can watch these videos, with The Beatles rehearsing their new songs, adding new ideas to each verse and writting their lyrics along together is simply the most exiting images I could dream to see in my life. God bless those four genious.

The film quality almost makes it look like it was recorded last week. It instantly removes 53 years between us and it and makes it immediate.

This was exactly how the original movie started. The High Definition that was put into this footage is beyond incredible. It truly looks like it was shot with today's technology. Personally, the songs that came from these sessions are some of my favorites and shows that even under less than stellar conditions, the Beatles' talent as a band were immense. Even George Martin would prepare people meeting the 4 Beatles together of this "magical-like aura" that seemed to present itself everytime the 4 Beatles were in the room together. It was truly powerful. Even he, himself, felt this everytime he was in the room with the four of them.

Five movies...12 of the greatest albums ever recorded...the first music video...hundreds of live performances. And all before any of them were even 30 years old. Mind blowing.

I really like how these videos cut back and forth between 50 years of film history. Get Back was a great watch and I liked the modernized footage, but it's as interesting to see just how distant those days (and their technology) were from our own.

This film proves that there was still something special between all 4 of them you can see it and even feel it, they'd a bond going on between them that no other band or group will ever recreate

Watching these songs being made out of nothing but ideas and sounds is mesmerizing.

Would've thought it dead easy for them to pull out 10 or 15 rockers from their pockets. Taxman, Back In The USSR, Day Tripper. But oh no. They had so much integrity, they ignored all previous and even very recent achievements. Shocking amount of talent coming from them.

Is so satisfying to watch the original documentary vs the get back version.

It's REALLY unfair that a guy like Paul can even exist. He has all that natural talent, a voice of a god, can play any instrument, comes up with melodies in mere seconds, is gorgeous as holy fuck, intimidates and charms in equal measure just gazing in your direction, great husband/father, savvy businessman, AND is one of the richest people in the world.
