Problem is that the target demographic for these cushy, full-size sedans are older folks who have mostly moved onto crossovers of various sizes. The full-size luxury sedan market is (sadly) dead going forward. (And this shift in buyer preferences also explains why Toyota decided to ditch the Avalon's old-man rap with the latest generation. Old people have abandoned sedans. It's mostly younger buyers who buy sedans.)
Zak Ty it deserves a redesign ... the issue is they are upset about the sales ... but is this really the Continental people wanted - I think the answer is no 1) should have been a true flagship and created the foundation for the Continental sub brand 2) should have always been stretched like the coach door edition 3) should have used fords b pillar-less design that it pioneered a few years ago in Europe 4) should have used quad coach sliding doors that were power open and close 5) all vehicles should have been black label 6) it should have went head to head with a S class period
I own one and it's quite frankly remarkable. Last full-size premium American sedan in the market. It was poorly marketed imo. This needed to be featured in a few rap videos. No bs....
Thanks for reviewing a used car! It's nice to hear about how it's held up over moderate usage. The Continental is yet another beautiful and compelling car killed by SUVs.
A lot of people are bashing the interior however it's due to the camera angle being too high. You sink in this car, padded by all around leather, wood from the center, etc. The vehicle reviewed happen to have the open pore wood (which feels nice) as opposed to the gloss wood option. He barely touched on the seats presence, it's look and feel and unique styling bolster accents. The moment you sit down its noticeable that this is different from anything the brand offers. The screen is not popping out dash, it sits flush on the center stack unlike the Navigator, Aviator, etc. Real metal chrome accents abound. The exterior is not bland, has a Bentley-ish rear quarter panel, has presence on the road. I turn heads all day in mine (especially with 22s and dechromed monochrome package). It's an imposing vehicle that 5 series and E class drivers will notice.
That’s because Lincoln is killing it and likely taking buyers from Lexus and Cadillac. My accounting teacher has a Lincoln said her friend had a Cadillac and “it’s a piece of crap”
@@ro0ster648 GS is a much better platform in my opinion. Overseas it has its own brand. It is sold as "Crown." The GS is the Crown Athlete. Designed for taxi and police use. Same car but different logos, grille, etc. Easy 300K+ car with basic maintenance. Shares a transmission with the Toyota Tundra truck. ES is very good too. They both share the same engine.

I have one of these and love it. Nothing else like it on the roads. In the menu accessible by the steering buttons there is also a comfort mode which allows you to basically float down the highway.
Love the videos. I do feel though Lincoln starts and ends with the Town Car. Those were comfortable had a distinct design and most importantly they were bulletproof reliable especially with the 4.6 Intech V8.
No Lincoln starts with the 1946 Continental wtf. The yes I agree ends in 2011 with the ending of the Town Car which is a fantastic vehicle that I hope they bring back someday.

It’s either the Conti or Avalon Touring or Limited for me to replace my 200C 3.6 AWD which has been very reliable I’ve had it since new and I still own it til this day. But I think I’m going to go with the Avalon over the Conti.
I would Imagine it could easily get to 100,000 like almost any modern car ask Ong as you take care of it but considering that it's GM maybe not over 125,000 miles maybe plus the electronics might go bad first 😂. This why I love Japanese cars.

i have a 2018 Continental Reserve with 400hp twin turbo. I am 70 years old and have had too many cars and trucks in my time, but this is the nicest one I have ever had. This is a keeper and to hell with the suvs.

You rarely touch the screen much, as you have steering wheel controls and physical knobs above the AC controls below the screen. You get used to it immediately
How does variable steering ratio work? Does it change electronically depending on speed, or does the ratio become more aggressive after a certain amount of turn of the wheel?
It’s actually kinda frustrating. My one gripe about the car. Sometimes the steering feels very heavy and then other times it’s light. Also whenever you try to predict it, it doesn’t always play like you expect. You can turn it off though
WARNING TO POTENTIAL USED CAR BUYERS thinking of purchasing the newer generation of Continentals, DO RESAERCH BEFORE BUYING because of this car's excellent appeal & looks: As a elderly guy who doesn't drive every day, I became VERY SKPTICAL & WEARY of considering these newer Continentals because of the fact it has a "Battery Saver Shut Off" feature I found out after extensive research of problems & complaints with this last generation of these Continentals. Which means, if it sits longer than ONE DAY not being start up in your driveway, the ENTIRE CAR SHUTS DOWN & you will need to jump start it. I confirmed this with a Lincoln Service Dept. Rep & this is 100% true. Being an elderly gentleman, I DO NOT drive my car everyday & have no intentions to. I drive maybe 2-3 times a week at most. So, SADLY because of the "battery Saver Shut Off" feature installed in these, this car sadly became off my list of potential used cars to look at & consider buying. And that is a bummer because it truly is a beautiful car. I think I will go with a used low mileage Genesis G90 instead or a last model Toyota Avalon. The G90 looks better than this Lincoln anyways & doesn't have no stupid Battery Save Shut Off feature in it.
No need for a V8. The midrange engine in these is a reliable V6 w/ turbo that gets reasonable gas mileage and has 335hp and close to 375ft/lbs of torque. Top level engine is a 6 cylinder with all wheel drive and 400hp. Great power with decent fuel economy.

The black label trim is substantially nicer on the inside than the reserve... And more expensive. The 80th edition is also made by an independent coach company (not the entire car) and is the only car outside of Rolls Royce with suicide doors. It also costs 120,000$

For the update, Lincoln offers CPO 5 yr 100k mile warranty bumper to bumper ...so even that one featured would have still had coverage for 40k miles.

3.0 v6 awd mkz has the same engine. I own an mkz and its does 0-60 4.8 sec. Fully loaded was about 62k.

I think this car would be a great alternative to an SUV. Better looks, more room, better handling. It's a shame that the large sedan is a dying breed.
