That’s really interesting. I’m a person who started with relatively old hardware and also gained a dislike for certain fingertricks. I’ll go over my fingertricks again and see whether this turning would help. I’ve always felt that because of my older habits and bad fingertricks, my potential algpool and tps were both limited.
There's a concept in music ( and other stuff) called Economy of motion: maximize results while minimizing movement. The same idea of not exaggerating your movements and using your fingertips (weirdly enough) also applies to guitar playing.
this is pretty interesting, I got coaching from daniel karnaukh like two years ago and he mentioned this as a flaw in my turning style, but I never implemented it since I didn't really understand the point. I'll probably give it a go now but I'm still a little daunted as it feels so unnatural to me
@@BrinaSun well more accurately, it wasn't well explained enough and didn't come with a plan on how to do it, and he didn't reply about it when I asked him afterwards
@@itsissun there isnt a "way" to do it other than just stop doing it its like asking how to stop misbehaving or something (first thing that came to mind that makes sense), you kinda just stop abusing people (once again something that randomly came to mind) and there isnt a way to stop doing it other than stop doing it
@@BrinaSun yes there is, before this video I didn't really understand what daniel was saying, but now jay/you show how the finger reverse bending is bad and that you should use your fingertip instead of the pad of your finger - this is an actual tip that can be implemented fairly easily with some practice
So I found that I implement pretty much all of the good habits in this video (the only turns where I bend my finger back are one that I literally never do lol) and my TPS is very good. My Jb Perm for example takes 0.56 seconds and I'm only mid 10. (I'm going for WB 🤣) Very good video for people that don't implement these
I also think it's worth mentioning that using your fingertips only is better for overall finger health (at least that's what I noticed when I cleaned up my turning by doing this), which is probably in everyone's best interest.
This is very true! I can safely say I've never experienced hand pain when doing 3x3 2H despite doing 4-6 horus of cubing a day for like 5 years back in the day :P I'm sure this is a big reason why
lol I thought there was a hair/scratch/crack in the lower right part of my screen. Edit: Also, I find remembering to use the tips of the fingerswhen scrambling helps with remembering to use the tips when solving.
thank you mr sun, and also jay! oh yeah a weird thing i was thinking about today, when i watch your tetris i sometimes feel like your style is similar to your cubing style lol
@@JaydenMcNeill when i say your tetris style i am probably using the wrong words what i meant was how you burst out, then pause and think for a sec, then burst out again
So basically using the tips of your fingers will make sure they are bending in the right way? I feel like its possible to just learn how to not bend the wrong way naturally after doing a lot of solves. Or i could be completely wrong.

aaaaand straight to the point

This is really interesting! Also, a video that actually gives me new information on this kind of basic thing is so rare

as yes just ignore advice because you don’t understand the point

yes Horus the Egyptian god
Oh yeah for ppl who try out the turning in this vid, prepare for calluses in your dip joint knuckles 😂
Thanks for the video learned a lot, I learned that i suck at turning
i needed this
Ahh the perfect video for me
I might suck at turning but at least I can hold a cube properly ha
Same thing for piano oddly enough, you must use the tips
_just the tip_
idk how but i didn’t needed to watch fingertricks videos (just a few) I somehow already knew the fingertricks. Idk it’s weird
Yep
How do you avoid that underturn, over turn thing? In some extreme cases I have found my self doing a full R' before an alg like Jb perm for instance
do slow solves where you force yourself to turn well (accurate as possible). about 15-20 before full solving sessions is good
lol I thought there was a hair/scratch/crack in the lower right part of my screen.

To answer your question yes
They go hand in hand
You can’t simply not bend the wrong way if you don’t use your finger tips
And I thought I was weird for struggling and drilling my pinch F turns everyday. Why is my non dominant hand better at it 🤔
I never realized how much I love my ring finger. Thank you for keeping my cube stable all the time 🙏
Jay how did you know
because of me duh
@@BrinaSun how did you know
because I’m big brian

About fingertip bending turns. You have to spent time on bending so turn is slower exactly on time of bending
