I'd welcome some thoughts on this. I have always used the language the the Law points us to Christ, but for some reason listening to this it hit me that this is not quite accurate. The Law (moral law) cannot POINT to Christ in the Gospel, as the Law contains no Gospel. It seems better to say that the Law drives us to see the sinfulness of sin, our need etc., leaving us prepared for Christ in the Gospel. But this means that we must hear the Gospel at this point, otherwise all we'll hear is the just condemnation of Gods Law.
The churches need to hear this message. We are in desperate times as some denominations embrace antinomianism.
Agree. Actually those who embrace antinomianism or legalism need to hear this, as either of them usually comes in a subtle way nowadays.
Thank you Dr. Reeder.
