$10 VS $200 HAIR BRUSH! IS IT WORTH IT??!!!

  • I tested out 2 different brushes today. One cost $10 and the other is $200. Hair care is so important because it shapes your whole look and defines it. With a good hairdo your whole look would not be complete. So I wanted to find something that might work in saving my damaged hair and hopefully it'll restore my hair back to smooth, silky and healthy locks!

My father is a retired hairdresser and bought me a Mason Pearson brush about 46 years ago. it is still going strong, and I absolutely love it. Hair will always fall out when you brush it: it's natural, but to minimise this, you should always brush from the bottom: (ie in small sections, and then proceed higher) rather than dragging down from the top.

I still have mine from when I was young. I gave my combo ones away (normal size and purse size) because my hair is fine and sensitive now. They are at least 40 yrs old.

I have the mason and it's fantastic. The frizz disappeared as it brings out the natural oil in the hair. It's great for dry, damaged hair. Fantastic investment 😊

the bristle brush is for brushing your hair, not detangling and the other is plastic one. You should compare the expensive bristle brush with a cheaper bristle brush.

Yes, the Mason Pearson is a brush, but NOT meant to detangle hair. It is meant for STYLING. The bristle and nylon are extremely helpful with smoothing and taming frizz while blowdrying. As a hairstylist, it an investment that's worthwhile. It gives a beautiful finish that's extremely polished and silky smooth. I've used it and it is amazing. Cuts down on the time it takes to get hair smooth and leaves the hair feeling soft. YES IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY

For cleaning the brush, could I use a drop of dawn soap mixed with warm water instead of shampoo? Most shampoos have oils in them that coat the hair. Whereas dawn soap removes all oils including the oils from your hair that the brush soaked up.

I use Afro picks that come in a 3 pack. Always have, always will. They’re best for
    Long, thick,
Frizzy/curly color treated hair. That said, There are other companies that sell brushes made of the same materials as these trendy ridiculously priced brushes for a reasonable price.

I don’t know how it would react with your dye but coconut oil is great when you have dry hair. Also your hair naturally sheds, I don’t dye my hair but unless it is dirty a little hair always comes out when brushing, especially right after washing (same happens with my dog). The purpose of the boar bristle plush is not detangling, it is to move oil from your scalp over the strand which is what produces the shine, I suggest using a wide tooth comb to detangle before using the brush, it will also help with breakage.

Along with that beautiful head of hair you’ve got, I have love in my heart for you as a fellow flawed human/divine child-that said, watching you brush your hair from the roots sparked the same type of horror in me as watch Lady Brienne shut the Knight book before the ink completely dried in Game of Thrones... 😳👀😱😱💀💀🥴😅... So many feelings.
Also, there are phases of our hair (follicles, really)... the telogen (Resting) phase is what causes the strands to fall out, & having a good brush to help get rid of the old makes room for the new, so MP is doing you a good service 🤷‍♀️😃❤️!
I’m almost 36; I’ve wanted a MP since I was 5 years old, & have yet to fulfill that dream lol...so dramatic... But yeah, you are the owner of a valuable thing, very much worth
the money and something that people truly do pass down in their family... like, for a reason!
(To each their own, you know... I could just be projecting... but yeah probably not lol-they’re pretty heckin awesome Lol)...

I thought your outlook on comparing how much we can spend on hair care over all was a good way to show that spending a lot on a hair brush doesn't have to seem that crazy considering the Mason Pearson hair brushes are said to last for so many years. It really does seem to turn buying one of these brushes into a long term investment instead of buying many less expensive hair brushes over the years. I always look for best value and sometimes that means buying something for less money that can do the job and last, such as a good quality wrench set for working on the car instead of top of the line mechanic tools, or other times paying more for something that won't break, or wear out as fast such as a good set of tires might make more sense than buying a less expensive brand. I have also found buying good quality cookware tends to be an investment worth making. The same goes for if we are spending the money on other hair care products to keep our hair looking good and be as healthy as possible it would only make sense to make this investment sooner than later since they are said to be able to last so long with the proper care for the brush and it would be getting used every day. Thanks for posting this video and cheers.
