Yeah this was my conclusion as well. Running games like OW, CS, DOOM - whatever at anywhere between 120 and 250fps locked depending on settings. This game has issues maintaining anything above 60 with any type of consistency even with low settings. I hope they improve it because the game is fun and for sure better than I'd expected.
UE4 is really good at performance. Just by example is SMTV, not even Vengance on Switch. And even if it low some of the FPS, the game still was so good back then. If you make it to run on UE4 with best performance, it will be an astonishing (I think I wrote it wrong) win.
It's both... UE with it's general render pipeline just isn't particularly efficient. It's geared toward "looking pretty" at the cost of overhead, resulting in extremely primitive scenes running overall worse than something custom made or a well made contemporary engine/framework. There is a very good reason for why riot more or less rewrote the render pipeline for valorant, i.e it would never hit + 200fps otherwise... In all fairness the workflow for UE is the gold standard currently, which is why people use it.. but the engine is, as i wrote at the top, NOT efficient whatsoever. Then we have the issue of developers just tossing in assets nillywilly with no concern for overdraw, which in the end does not help the issue whatsoever.
@pitchatan can we access riot custom render pipeline? I wish we have access to a lighter render by a toggle. Not everyone want to make AAAA games anyways

That's the problem with modern games built around Lumen. The moment you turn it off, you realize they completely forgot to make use of common, less expensive raster techniques like SSGI and HBAO/GTAO. The focus on lumen is way too strong for such an underdeveloped technology.

good luck with that. u have more people willing to accept lower then expected performance to play through franchise they ador. To them the issue is not a deal breaker.
PUBG was terribly unoptimized when it released. After a couple years, it ran great. Rivals already runs significantly better than it did during the closed beta. I'm hopeful it'll improve fast. Performance is important, but most gamers are gonna prioritize gameplay over everything. I'll play the game because it's now the most fun game of its kind (sorry OW, you'll be missed...somewhat).
Tried it on a living tv set up (4k 60hz vrr panel) with my 4070ti at 4k max with quality dlss I was hovering in the 70s. Not great given the type of game it’s trying to be where high fps is more important than stuff like rt. I would love to see something like the 3060 since that’s a very popular gpu
This surprised me so much when i first played it. I have an rx 6600 and can usually play at high settings 60+fps no problem. I had to turn the graphics down to low and it still isn't brilliant performance. For a competitive game where you might want 144+fps it's terrible. It doesn't even look much better than similar games like overwatch
Looks only slightly better than overwatch with stuff like global illumination but still looks like i should run it at locked 1080p 60fps on a PS4. Cant even think that it would run smoothly on my 3060 lol. Nice review bro
@@Mrmcmilk depends what you consider smooth i guess. I've a 3080 and on low settings i get around 150- 180 fps max which is lower than my monitor refresh rate so i don't consider it smooth but if you play 60 to 144hz and match that refresh rate you could call it smooth. the 150 fps also doesnt even feel like it cause of atrocious 1% lows.
I've tested the input difference with Frame gen on/off using Nvidia Overlay. System latency only jumps by about ~10ms with fgen on. Considering that it can make the difference in tracking your shots from the extra 20% - 40% fps jump... I'd say it's worth it. Besides, NO ONE will be able to notice a 10ms difference, it's imperceivable in actual gameplay. The AMD Fgen actually has an extra ~5ms latency to it so use the Nvidia one if you have a 4xxx GPU and you need to turn on Windows > Graphics Settings > Change Default Graphics > Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling ON
I’m 3 minutes into the video and all I have to say is WTF, LMAO…. what is happening to video games…. Dump all the lumen, RT and the like and just make a well playing game with a great art style. Jeeze…..

$1800, 12gb VRAM usage, 350W+ power consumption, 75 fps avg, the frametime graph. All that just tells me this is the alpha version of this game, there is no other explanation. Well i also understand very little of these things.
the good news is that you can lower the graphics to medium settings and enable DLSS to gain an additional 100fps. the bad news is hat you need to lower the graphics to medium settings and enable DLSS to gain an additional 100fps
Thanks for the video. I would like to mention that for a competitive game like this it might be more informative for the average viewer to show off the lower performance presets. Other than turning off the RT, you left most of the settings at ultra, and I feel that the average player would prefer having a higher framerate and might want to see if the lower presets make a big difference. Especially since most people don't have a 4090.
I was so disappointed to see that I couldn't run it in 1440p Ultra with 120fps on a freaking 7800xt, it was usually around 80 - 100fps, so glad people caught on.
I don't know if this still applies, but on release of that CPU, Windows would often use non-X3D cores for gaming, and those are obviously slower for that, therefore by disabling them you would get better performance in most titles. They might have fixed that by now, so maybe he just wants to simulate 7800X3D, which should be significantly more popular than 7950X3D.

Overwatch 2 definitely looks better even on Low settings. In this game, once you disabled the Lumen, the max settings will looks like low settings while performing like triple times more intensive than Overwatch 2.

My ps5 hates me it’s always overheating playing Fortnite and now marvels I did switch back from 120 to 60 and that definitely helps but knowing that a pc worth thousands of dollars is having issue running this game idk why ue5 is so hard on systems in general but I do love this game
To be fair, this is easily the best performing UE5 game I've run. I assume I'd be getting far more with a more modern CPU. Again, running RT (even if Lumen) is going to really hurt performance even on a 4090 unless you're doing upscaling and frame gen. GPU's just aren't ready for RT yet without helping hands. All it takes for someone with lower end specs to have good results is just NOT running Lumen, and maybe lowering the settings.
Good thing DLSS FG is actually better than No Reflex when you can manage a quite high base framerate. Although if you want to have more accurate and precise hits, Reflex On and No FG is superior. Didn't expect competitive game to be heading this way 🤦♂
Most games I play on my pc I get good performane. Games that look as realistic as resident evil remakes and no lag whatsoever. But this game is melting my setup and only getting around 30-50 fps in teamfights. It is so hard to tell what is even going on. I was so hyped to play it man

i was chilling with 4060 high presen "no lumen" 1080p with +- 100 fps and dlss ultra quality, pretty good, frame gen is terrible a lot of stuttering and the latency is insane
Ok these comments are not it, this game looks AMAZING one of the best blends of cartoony and modern 3D graphics, BUT no matter how amazing it looks yes it’s unoptimized as hell 😭
There must be something broken with their upscaling? Tested on an old GPU using XeSS, A few frames difference between Ultra quality, quality and balanced . Then on performance it shot up to almost double the frames. No frame gen
Especially compared to overwatch, with my 3080 12gb and a 14700k get a 1% low of 300 fps on overwatch. Now with marvel rivals a low of 160 fps on my 360hz oled monitor is just painfull.
Whenever someone says my 1080Ti is too old for today's games, saying the graphics are too advanced, I point them at games like Doom 2016 that look amazing and play at 200-300fps on max settings, and looks great. Doesn't matter how old the game or hardware is, if it looks great and runs great. Yes I can see Lumen looks good, but its so unnecessary... Especially for games like Marvel Rivals that are stylized to begin with and aren't going for hyperrealism anyway. UE5 is so pointless for these kinds of games. UE5 + lazy devs is a terrible combo.

Wish this game GL, they really hired some chinese mobile game developer to make this game using a terrible engine like UE5
Dont worry ill remake this in UE4 for you all 🙏
Sure
😂
UE4 is really good at performance. Just by example is SMTV, not even Vengance on Switch. And even if it low some of the FPS, the game still was so good back then. If you make it to run on UE4 with best performance, it will be an astonishing (I think I wrote it wrong) win.
So its Paladins with reflections on puddles of water
We need Paladins 2
Oh GOD here we go again 😂
As an UE developer of 8 years: Unreal Engine is not killing games. It is the developers who use it.
You'd think this would be obvious but apparently not
Tbh UE5 has had the most problems. Even when a game is running fine like this, it's still very intensive.
marvel rivals made by china, don't touch it garbage game
Not everyone want to make AAAA games anyways
this game could reach even wider audince but the developers don't want
I love how some people deny that this game is optimised and runs fine 🤣. You shouldn't defend the game for terrible performance.
"Indiana Jones and the Great Circle" PLEASE 😅 i saw its pretty optimized and beautiful.
So you're saying I should upgrade my 6700xt to a 8800xt? Fine you convinced me, dont gotta twist my arm
u needed a small push lmao
Do you realize you don't have to run everything at max?
when your done with your 6700xt send me it
14:09 Wow that's actually quite rough. For some reason with Lumen OFF it makes the game looks so flat, looks like low settings! Notice the building shading.
That's the problem with modern games built around Lumen. The moment you turn it off, you realize they completely forgot to make use of common, less expensive raster techniques like SSGI and HBAO/GTAO. The focus on lumen is way too strong for such an underdeveloped technology.
@@misplacedpaws Epic Games marketed Lumen so well that everyone wants to jump into it.

One thing i told my self is, I will not play these new unoptimized garbo games, the gaming community needs to be united and not support these type of unoptimized games, maybe then we can expect the game developers to actually work hard and do their job and make games more optimized for all systems.
good luck with that. u have more people willing to accept lower then expected performance to play through franchise they ador. To them the issue is not a deal breaker.
Nah people will adapt and accept anything sadly
PUBG was terribly unoptimized when it released. After a couple years, it ran great. Rivals already runs significantly better than it did during the closed beta. I'm hopeful it'll improve fast. Performance is important, but most gamers are gonna prioritize gameplay over everything. I'll play the game because it's now the most fun game of its kind (sorry OW, you'll be missed...somewhat).
Imagine using dynamic GI and SSR instead of baking lighting and cubemaps for static maps without day-night cycle
It should be 200+ fps with this visuals. Oh right, it's on Unreal Stutter Engine 5 by Epic Fail Games.
with 4090 should be like infinite fps, thats basically futuristic gpu should be able to do anything
@carl5939 Well yes but consider CPU bottleneck etc. Tried to be realistic.
It wont launch on my beast of a pc with a gt 710 and i5 9400f such a waste 😭
Bro buy like rx 6600 with i5 9400f its solid combo❤

It runs very smoothly on my 3060 lol. I have the 12gb vram version
Overwatxh looks sooo much better man😂😂
I've tested the input difference with Frame gen on/off using Nvidia Overlay.
EXAMPLE: Final Fantasy 13 in 2009 looked WAY better than most of the AAA games of the last few years and runs on a potato. The beautiful reflections are pretty but I don’t even notice them when playing a good game that I get into. Dump all the lumen, RT and the like and just make a well playing game with a great art style. Jeeze…..
@@SteelGrayRider I mean try telling these MR fanboys and whales, about these older games that run and look better.
But they won't listen, until these problems happen to them.
Turns out "cartoony" doesn't mean simple.
Just ask those who work at Pixar.
@@leonfrancis3418 no but cell shading does amount to "simpler graphics"
Thanks for the video. I would like to mention that for a competitive game like this it might be more informative for the average viewer to show off the lower performance presets. Other than turning off the RT, you left most of the settings at ultra, and I feel that the average player would prefer having a higher framerate and might want to see if the lower presets make a big difference. Especially since most people don't have a 4090.
Can u test out the new Indiana Jones game by Machine Games? On the 6700 XT?
I was so disappointed to see that I couldn't run it in 1440p Ultra with 120fps on a freaking 7800xt, it was usually around 80 - 100fps, so glad people caught on.
Hey, Could you tell me why you disable half of the cores of the ryzen 9 to make it a ryzen 7 in your benchmarks ?
I don't know if this still applies, but on release of that CPU, Windows would often use non-X3D cores for gaming, and those are obviously slower for that, therefore by disabling them you would get better performance in most titles. They might have fixed that by now, so maybe he just wants to simulate 7800X3D, which should be significantly more popular than 7950X3D.
It still baffles me how Spider-man remastered is more playable then Marvel Rivals in my rx 580.
4060 USER. got 60 to 70fps on low setttings. Went back to Valorant where Im getting around 180 fps. Game is unplayable if only 60fps. Feels likes turdburger.

The worst thing is that they don't let you disable a lot of those performance heavy settings as if they are baked into the game, same happened with Stalker 2, also UE5. Developers need to realize that the engine is not game ready, it runs awful and just looks pretty.
Bro this game is litteraly a little better than overwatch in terms of graphics
overwatch looks better, any competent dev could easily optimize this to run at 60fps on ps4 tier hardware

“Way too intensive for the way it looks” the story of pretty much every new game being released. This game looks utterly CRAP. To only achieve 70fps on a game that looks this basic on a 4090 is a disgrace. If someone told me this is a tech demo to show off the power of the next iPhone I wouldn’t question it. I have a 7800xt, and to hit my refresh rate of 170hz I need all low settings with balanced fsr 2. That’s insane. I’m on a modern graphics card playing a cartoony game, all low settings should easily be 170 fps without any struggle. There should be no need for fsr 2
OMG, wtf is this performance for the graphics? It looks like Valorant but with more detail and density. Can't believe Valorant is also built on UE (UE4), which shows that optimization but from the programmer is also very important rather than just picking UE can calling it the end of the day.

@@tysopiccaso8711 That's not even the point. Whatever "max" settings they are providing, looks similar to Valorant.

Another unreal engine slop
The performance of dlss performance mode is what I was expecting at 4k native with this overwatch 2 level graphics.
Why the f. do you need ray tracing in a game that's not going for realistic looks??
What kind of question is this lmfao? Ray tracing looks incredible in games with flat cartoony art styles, look at jusant
So we can utilize the RT cores most of us have?

Indiana Jones is clowning on this massively performance wise, and visually.
Unreal Engine 5 is the problem
3700x and 7800xt, 40-80fps at 1080p without lumen 🙃
Everyone should band together to abandon this engine
Do you realize you don't have to run everything at max?
...there's literally nothing wrong with the engine.
It's just bad publishers forcing devs to rush through the optimization phase because 9/10 times it won't effect sales.
If Fortnite can run on a weak arse Nintendo Switch using UE5 then literally any game using that engine can be optimized just as much.
My ps5 hates me it’s always overheating playing Fortnite and now marvels I did switch back from 120 to 60 and that definitely helps but knowing that a pc worth thousands of dollars is having issue running this game idk why ue5 is so hard on systems in general but I do love this game
Facts I have a decent pc and get 120fps on medium low but it legit crashed my gpu randomly 🤦♂️
To be fair, this is easily the best performing UE5 game I've run. With mostly maxed settings (not Lumen) and FSR on Ultra Quality at 3440x1440 I'm averaging 140+ (I have it capped at 142) fps with a 7900 XTX and 5800X3D.
I’m done buying unoptimized games, they can kick rocks.
Ahh yes, the mighty 4090 getting 70ish fps 4k on a 10 year old looking game....whay a time to be alive
Good thing DLSS FG is actually better than No Reflex when you can manage a quite high base framerate. Although if you want to have more accurate and precise hits, Reflex On and No FG is superior. Didn't expect competitive game to be heading this way 🤦♂
Cs2 looks way better while providing 500+ fps in 4k native, LOL
I guess optimization is a thing of a past now, it seems devs assume everyone has crazy rigs lmao.
"Just enable some upscalers", they say
Most games I play on my pc I get good performane. Games that look as realistic as resident evil remakes and no lag whatsoever. But this game is melting my setup and only getting around 30-50 fps in teamfights. It is so hard to tell what is even going on. I was so hyped to play it man
When i saw the recommended gpu was a 2060, and knew this was a very chinese mobile game i was SHOCKED
I found that disabling low latency mode in nvidia control panel and enabling reflex in game instead helps with both fps and frame times
Can you do it with 4060?
I KNEW I WASNT CRAZY, I was running overwatch perfectly fine and somehow got 40 fps on average in this game and single digit when strange's portal is open? What a joke
i was chilling with 4060 high presen "no lumen" 1080p with +- 100 fps and dlss ultra quality, pretty good, frame gen is terrible a lot of stuttering and the latency is insane
I have a rx 5800x3d + rx 7900xt and I play on everything low+performance mode and get between 80-170 fps its really weird
I have a RTX 3060 and am more than satisfied with how it runs. All settings high at 80fps.
This man benchmarks for our sins. 😇
No frame gen
looking forward for the 4060 test :)
Game just came out... give it some time. I'm very happy with the performance of my 5600x + 4070. Also playing at 4k in competitive is not very common at all
This should play on GTX 750 Ti realistically...
