I saw stampede is theaters The audio was off for the first minute, the lights didn’t turn off until 3 minutes in, and I cackled like a maniac when Ace appeared at Sabo’s fire fist.
I like Stampede but yeah I dislike how much of a waste of potential it was. I just don’t know if the filmmakers really cared or understand what made One Piece great. Douglas Bullet: A character with a legitimately unfortunate backstory that informs his mindset in the film...which you’d only know if you read the pamphlet that I think was only available to Japanese theater goers. Otherwise they just briefly touch on it in within the actual film. The island and festival: A giant race/ battle royale between a bunch of characters new and old. Sounds awesome and fun. They speed run it within the first 1/3(if even that) and the rest of the movie is one prolonged fight. The intrigue: There was a mystery element to this story with the main villains motive. But they skip over it with Law just solving the mystery on his own offscreen. Lucci, Sabo, And Crocodile are also there, but their involvement is overall minimal at absolute best. Character interactions: Characters do just show up, fight fodder, and leave. The Supernovas can’t do anything meaningful because the manga hasn’t fleshed them out so they disappear after a fight that’ll likely look tame once we know what they can do. Mihawk just dips because he could probably end this movie in under a minute. And also the manga hasn’t developed him a lot yet. Lucci And Crocodile are just there because the manga hasn’t developed them a lot yet. Oh yeah and Sabo barely talks to Luffy. That isn’t a manga thing but they didn’t do it so I think they really just didn’t care. Overall a fun movie if you like One Piece. Heck, I don’t even think the most intellectual OP fan will finish watching without having a LITTLE bit of fun. But once you really think about it this movie, it really misses a lot of the charm, character dynamics, adventurous, fun loving, and mysterious aspects of the series in favor of fights that’ll have feats that won’t measure up come a few years. So even powerscalers will just tear each other apart with no real progress.
When my buddy asked what omatsuri was about I told him “think one piece meets Akita” That was a TERRIBLE description apparently cuz he was absolutely turned away from it. But after watching it with me he told me that was probably the most accurate description I could’ve given 😂
Flim Gold is my favorite movie,the biggest problem I have with Flim z is the fact that the powerscaling is a mess (I love Stampede is because it's just fun,but I already was spoiled about the fights so that's the reason it's not my favorite)
The movies have never been canon so I couldn’t care less if they had questionable scaling decisions. They might as well just do whatever they want for the most part.
Almost fell asleep during Stampede. Makes me hate fanboys and fansevice Z is my favorite. Excellent antagonist and I have no problem with the locations Baron Omatsuri is also great. Creepy as hell and very visceral with the crew arguing (for once it isn’t comic relief) Also like the DKCTF music (underrated as hell but one of the best in gaming imo)
pretty wild how the movie that is tonally different from one piece is also the best one piece movie. like movie 6 is scary bro, the manga ain’t about that
13:49 If I HAD to erase 3 straw hats, I'd probably pick Sanji, Chopper and Brook cuz I love the other characters far too much. Franky and Jimbei are some of my favorite characters. It's not related to the video but since you said it, I was pondering that question. Edit: However, I do agree that Baron Omasturi is my favorite One Piece film. Incredible, emotional, and beautifully animated film. Even though I love the animation direction of One Piece now and I didn't mind the dragon ball-like elements at all in Stampede and Wano, I still loved the look of this film. The looser designs and simpler art style. It's reminiscent of a Ghibli movie character.
Haven’t seen it so I can’t really tell you. Kind of annoying that the movies still wanna tease fans with “le epic connection to canon material!”. But it could be nice.

Omatsuri is a great movie indeed. The big black flower on top of the mountain is super creepy. Even creepier than the flower on the baron's shoulder.
You wouldn't believe how many times Luffy vs The Baron was used in AMVs back in the day. Movie really has that edge factor.

The jazz soundtrack in Straw Hat Chase was my favorite, I remember listening to it on repeat after I first saw the movie.
My favorite movie is Strong World, loved everything about it from the animals the clothes they used and the fights

I always enjoy the Straw Hat chase. It's shorter and looks questionable at first glance, but I had a real fun time watching it.
