    For a pico tank where you can't hang the black box this might make sense, but even a standard 10 gallon I think you are better off with any black box. How long have you used the lighttimetunnel ones? Sorry for the slightly off topic question, but I'm thinking about adding one to my frag tank. They're so cheap on amazon.

    • @Emanna81
      @Emanna81  6 років тому

      True with the black box over a 10 gal, but a 10 gal. IM Tank has different demensions and the black box over hangs it. Not to mention 30 watts vs 165 watts. Its like having a Ferrari on a park way..sure you can do over 200 mph...but should you? Lol I guess over kill is where im getting at. Lol I have been using the black box now for over a year now. I have 4 of them. Only one fan was makong a loud noise after 3 months. I just ordered a fan on Amazon for about $8( I think it was the price.) and installed it in about 30 min. It's been fine ever since. It has a great color spectrum which is adjustable with the knobs. For the price I really can't complain. I had pretty good growth as well.

    Hey EZreefing, I am a true newbie. I have the Fluval EVO 13.5 Gallon. I have upgraded the Water Pump for more flow, bought the Fluval Skimmer for it. And now I want to upgrade the light. I have a two fish, a Shrimp, couple crabs, Feather duster, and a bunch of little frags. The frags have been "OK", they haven't died, but they haven't grown either. So my question is, would the Hipargero light, be a good choice for my tank. I do not want to spend a lot of money and I see that you take this very seriously. Any feedback, would be greatly appreciated

      @@shaun11787able , You are on the right track. I would def. Upgrade from the stock light. I would also check your ALK. An hour after a water change then again 4 days later to see if your alk is dropping and if you might need to start dosing. On smaller tanks they have less available buffer and elements to supply your coral. So it may get used up before the next water change and need to be supplemented. For me when I was doing the nano challenge, the alk. Was the main reason I feel for the lack of growth.

    Would 2 of these work on a standard 29 gallon with soft corals?

    • @Emanna81
      @Emanna81  6 років тому +1

      It could work. Each light is 8.5 inches long. You would have to be smart about placement. 3 lights would even fit across the back if you don't have any thing else on it. Keep in mind the thickness of the brace as well. The bracket is 3/4 of an inch wide plus the screw leaving room for only 1/2 inch about, so you might need to cut the bracket on the tank. The one prob. I see is the depth. The light might need to run at or close to 100%, which will leave you with a 10k (white light) to get the PAR needed. A LOT of people perfer the 12k (ice blue ) look. 2 on a 20 gallon would be a better choice. My personal opinion I would just get 2 black boxes for a tank that size. I have 3 over a 210 gallon and have had great sucess the last 2 years with growth, color and corals at all depths. I have a bubble tip under the first section of my tank 3 feet down and it hasn't moved and split into 2. I have them on 90% blue and 30% white. 12k (ish) lol I'm just being honest with you and it's my personal opinion.The tank you see in this video is a 29 gallon cube at one time I had a reef with softies,lps, and sps under it with only 1 black box (lightime tunnel brand) and it was successful. I hope it helps.

      @Emanna81  5 років тому

      Just looked. 24 x 15 x 13. ..what kind of coral do you plan on keeping in there? The good thing about the light is that it has 3 pucks. Which add multiple points of light to help eliminate shadowing. I would def. Use 2 of them. The light is only 30 watts. Build the reef and set corals to there light requirements. Sps on top under lights unless its a lepto. Or other low light sps. Brains, leptos, certain mushrooms, etc on the bottom. The light worked great on my IM FUSION 10 GALLON. So 2 on a 20 should be fine. Just watch your Alk. In the tank. Smaller tanks are not as stable as the bigger tanks..BUT STILL FUN!! Good luck!

      Thank you very much, I'll admit sps I will be avoiding because it's intimidating at the moment, started with a smaller tank thinking it would be a great intro to the hobbie. • @Emanna81

      Posts to Potato, You could if you want to, but remember at 100% its more of a 10k (white) light. It doesn't allow for the pigment to "pop" as much. Which dulls the nems. Color down greatly. You would want a little bit more powerful light so you can at least change the spectrum to a "ice blue" or a 12k look which will be more appealing to the eye. Hope this helps you out.

    • @Emanna81
      @Emanna81  6 років тому

      Chris Agsalog , the 25 lagoons demensions are 24x20x12 and each light is 8.7 inches long so I don't see why it wouldn't be.They are surprisingly strong lights. You should have plenty of light with 2 of them. Just make sure the brackets don't interfere with the built in filter on the back wall. Mine mounts fine on the IM 10 GALLON. So the 25 SHOULD be just as easy. Its a small bracket for the arm which is a big help. Thanks for watching. I hope my reply helped.

    I am trying to see what setting to keep my hypagero at to make my zoas most happy I have a 10g that is 20" long and 13" height, my zoas are kinda all over the place with some being 4" below the surface and the hypagero 3" 1/2 above the water.

    • @Emanna81
      @Emanna81  5 років тому

      I would try to keep the zoas lower in the tank. Mine was set at 2 clicks down from high on the blue and 8 clicks down from high on white channel. The zoas and acans were happy on the bottom and mid tank. All zoas are the not the same. Certain species do fine in brighter light others tend to do not so well. If they are not opening or hiding there "skirts" it might be the light is to strong. Move them or turn the light down. If moved and won't open look for pests.

      It worked great on the 10 gallon IM FUSION (more of a cube shape). The arm is a little long for a standard 10 gallon tank so it will not be centered if you hang it on the back it will be more towards the front. and the rim of it may need to be adressed, It is for a more rimless design tank although not impossible to mount on a SMALL rimmed tank. • @Emanna81
      @Emanna81  3 роки тому

      What are the dimensions if the tank. The Nicrew hyper reef 100 watt led light is pretty good, but caution with mounting brace if the tank has a rim. You can hang the light from the ceiling. It is just a little to heavy for the arm mount on smaller tanks with thinner glass. I would be concerned with the pressure of the arm. I was getting 500 PAR on the bottom of a 10 gallon tank on full blast. So I would think it would be fine with a 20 gallon high. Look it up on Amazon. It worked great for me over a 10 gallon frag tank. I had to actually turn it down to half power and was able to get an appealing to the eye light spectrum. Hope this helps. It's just a suggestion so take it for what its worth.
