Album from Chet Baker Quartet Live. Vol. 2(1954) Chet Baker (tp) Russ Freeman (pf) Carson Smith (ba) Bob Neel (dr) #Transcription #trumpet #ChetBaker #jazz
Chet didn’t have virtuosic range on the trumpet, but he had virtuosic dexterity. Look up any video of him playing an up tempo bebop tune. His fast lines rival any of the greats of the era like Clifford, Blue Mitchell, Clark Terry etc.. he just didn’t have much range beyond a D two lines above the treble clef.
Beautiful, really good transcribing!!!
Chet had an amazing jazz vocabulary and it just sounds great. Too bad he wasn’t the most virtuosic jazz legend.
He was virtuosic but he wasn’t flashy. His forged his own style with brilliant variation and melodic sense.

Where can I purchase a copy of this transcription?
Chet not at his best here but there's no telling the circumstances at the time of this recording.
