    The star Mira (Omicron Ceti) has kept a stunning secret that scientists have only just discovered in the glow of ultraviolet light.
    This is the Hidden Universe of the Spitzer Space Telescope, exploring the mysteries of infrared astronomy with your host Dr. Robert Hurt.

    When people say they see a shooting star after noticing a momentary streak of light in the night sky, what they really see are meteors burning up as they enter the Earths atmosphere-nothing to do with stars at all.
    However, Mira, the star in this video, really is a shooting star-traveling at supersonic speed and trailing a glowing tail. Go ahead make a wish. You have some time to come up with a good one. The length of the tail and the speed of the star means it has been doing this for at least 30,000 years.
    Mira (pronounced my-rah) is also known as Omicron Ceti. Mira is the only normal star known to have a tail. You cant even see Mira very well in the image because it is tiny compared to the tail. Mira is 350 lightyears from Earth. If you could see the star and its tail with your naked eyes, it would be as long as the width of four full Moons! The tail stretches an astonishing 13 light-years. If our Sun had a tail like this, it would reach far beyond the edge of the solar system and extend nearly three times further than Proxima Centauri, the closest star to the Sun. In fact, the 20 nearest stars to the Sun are closer than the length of Miras tail.

    What you apparently fail to realize is that gases do not collapse under their own weight, so there is no "collapse" if the sun is gaseous. The sun is a rock, lit by electric discharge, not a self-compressing ball of gas.

    Why is it pronounced (MY-rah) when the name of the same spelling is pronounced (MEE-rah)? Also, from my brief Latin studies, I have gathered that Mira, meaning wonderful, is pronounced (MEE-rah) also. Was it somehow changed for the naming of omicron ceti?

    You're confused about the explanation presented in the video because it makes no sense. This phenomenon is caused by electric discharge in plasma, not "bow shock" of a star plowing through "gas". That's not a smoke trail it's leaving behind, it's illuminated plasma in glow discharge mode. That's the reason it can remain coherent over such vast distances. It's a birkeland current.

    All of space where we've sent probes capable of detecting it, we discover plasma. If observable reality is to be believed, well over 99% of the universe is plasma. This is one of the observations noted by Peratt in his "plasma universe" presentation, which you can find online easily. i'm not familiar with "Velokovsky", maybe you could post a video about it.

    This star exhibits cometary behaviour for the same reasons that comets do. It is the focus of a massive electric discharge. In the case of comets, the electricity comes from the massive, radial electric field powering the sun. A star exhibiting the same behaviour means a much more massive electric field. This behaviour is only a "mystery" to people who believe in self-compressing gas ball stellar fusion models. Electric universe proponents expected these sorts of discoveries ages ago.

    If you were modeling those stars assuming they are fusing hydrogen into helium, you're dead wrong. Stars are lit by electric discharge, not fusion. I'm afraid it's you who's got the anachronistic and falsified hypothesis.
    Spectra of stars is based on current density at the surface, not heat, many stars have no hydrogen line.

    The UV radiation coming from the "tail" of that comet-like star is to be expected if you understand that the "tail" is a massive birkeland current, which is conducting electricity to the star. UV radiation is common for electric discharges in plasma. We observe this in the lab, and in space. Many comets emit UV radiation, in defiance of "dirty snowball" or "snowy dirtball" hypotheses. Comets and stars are electrically driven.

    Yes, the matter in the sun is plasma, and the surface of the sun is very rigid, since it's composed of calcium-rich and iron-rich rock. What is it you're complaining about here? I haven't said anything other than this and the sources I've cited support my claims. Also, peer review is not part of the scientific process, no matter what you or other idiots might think.

    The "tail" of this star is not a trail of smoke, it's a trail of energized plasma being powered into diffuse glow discharge mode by electric currents powering the star and forming the "double layer" around the star. These effects are well-known and have been modeled precisely in the lab. There is no "bow shock" and the "tail" of this object is in fact a birkeland current.

  • @fertilizerspike

    Any time objects from different regions of the solar system come in contact, their charge equalizes. We see the same behaviour in so-called "static electricity" effects. When the mass difference between the two objects is vast, the amount of current transferred to or from the smaller object is equally vast, relatively to the object's size. This is why meteorites flare up. This is why comets flare up. This is the force that powers the sun, it's the electric force, it's well understood.

  • @fertilizerspike
    @fertilizerspike 14 років тому

    @superdau
    The idea that photons take thousands of years to "leave the sun" is idiotic. Photons coming from the sun are a result of glow and arc discharges, electric phenomenon, and the photons aren't produced inside the sun, they're produced at the surface. The sun is solid, not a ball of self-compressing gas. Gases don't self-compress, they expand to fill available space. That's elementary chemistry there.

    There's no mystery here. The "tail" of this star is kept coherent because it's a manifestation of an electric discharge in plasma, the discharge that is generating the plasma "double layer" around the star itself. These phenomenon are perfectly reasonable to expect in an electric universe, yet they baffle gravity modelers and big bang/black hold/dark matter/dark energy devotees.

    To all the people whining about the clips of Mira being CGI: -----> The animation is simply speeding up the process that Mira has undergone by tens of thousands of years per second. It technically would've been more accurate if they had the color & size of the star change during the clip to indicate that it's burning different elements in it's lifetime...
    They literally explain in the video that the trail of the star is literally a timeline, a history of the star and the chemicals it produced billions of years into the past. The Hydrogen gas closer to the star is newer. Hydrogen gas further away from the star is older and was released thousands of years ago.. It's a supergiant. It's a pretty old star. It's been around for a while.
    Think of this star as though it were a tree. You don't have to stare at a tree for 20 years in order to have evidence that the tree grew. Same goes here...The ultraviolet photo of Mira was taken in 2007, about 3 years before this video was made. You can't forget that, in space, we're taking thousands, millions, and billions of years. 3 years is practically NOTHING against the timescale of the universe. Even if we do somehow compile footage of Mira moving, you won't see that footage in your lifetime.

    • @kimmykimko

    All bodies in space share dissimilar charges. Generally speaking, the more similar their distance from the sun, the more similar their electric charge. The radial electric field powering the sun drops off sharply with distance from the sun. By the time you're at the orbits of the planets the field is much weaker but spread over a much larger area. The planets are pushed around the sun by these currents.

    Gravity is mooted in most of the universe. Any time you have charged bodies able to interact electrically through a plasma, gravity is mooted, because electric and magnetic forces affect charged bodies in such circumstances forty orders of magnitude more strongly than "gravity". Most of the universe ignores "gravity". Even our planets moving around the solar system are not driven by "gravity", they are driven like clockwork around our star by electric and magnetic forces.

    I think,, the star is not a shooting star or moving like a comet. If it is a star...i believe it has to put the left behind matter, which is like the tail here in its gravitational force. I think the tail is formed because of heavy force (imaginary, could be Magnetic or other) / like the Wind on earth which can force a smoke on a fire ball to the wind direction. In the same manner some Force has drifted away the atmosphere of the Star making the driven away matter as a tail.

    • @Czekou
      @Czekou 9 років тому

      Like the scientist said in the video: When someone says they see a shooting star, they don't mean an actual star, but instead what you are seeing is a meteor entering our atmosphere.
      When a meteor enters our atmosphere, it goes from traveling in space where there is nothing around it to being surrounded by air. It is already traveling at thousands of miles per hour. This causes the meteor to quickly compress the air around it (when air is compressed it is much hotter). This causes the meteor to heat up so fast that you can see it glowing. The meteor burns until there is nothing left, which only takes a few seconds (depending on size of meteor) before it is gone.

    I bet you can convince 2nd graders that there are only eight planets. How many planets were there when your parents were in 2nd grade? It's easy to pump false information into a child's head, schools do it routinely.

    Yes the used a CGI image to explain the concept. That's not lying that Graphic Illustration. It's big industry.
    I mean really if I Illustrate a CGI Chicken based on a Image of a Chicken is it a Lie?
    The CGI is a Armature Illustrated Representation based on know information which was shown as still images. Of which they took many. See as a Illustrator I can explain how this works. You take multiple still images, you examine those images to figure out what is real and what is artifact, (lens flair, reflections...) then you LIE or Illustrate the logical and obvious motion gaps of the objects that the stills can't show. Sure the Illustrator could arguably have toned down their effects to better match the Low-res Stills. Hell I might have done it that way my self for a Test Reel so such footage may exist and I'd like to see that if it does. But Illustration is part Representation and part Inspiration

    Awesome! . . . Awesome cartoons! Only problem is I stopped watching cartoons when I was a teenager. Why is it there are ZERO photos? just CGI and drawings.
    And I don't care what excuses people have. We've all heard the saying "Photos or it didn't happen." The only problem with photos from NASA though is that I also don't accept "truth" from proven liars and hoaxters. Isn't it funny that if someone is scammed and defrauded out of their money, they never trust the scammer again. But if the same man is defrauded intellectually, he keeps going back to the scammer again, and again, and again. . .
    Sorry, I don't believe cartoons, no matter how good the STORY TELLING is.

    People are stupid af. Normal shooting star that fly across the sky with extremely fast speed is only just meteor crushing into earth atmosphere. This video show that the star itself fly through space, leaving ultraviolet dust, and forming a shooting star, with the real sized, really large, really hot, really bright star.

    I'm sure I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm not really interested in your "chi-energy" hypothesis, I'm talking about real, verified forces in the universe, electric and magnetic forces. They appear to dominate the universe on every scale. The universe is electric and fractal. The universe as a whole largely ignores gravity.
