I've watched a bunch of your videos, but never commented. Tyler, your peaceful demeanor and gentle ways are what keep me coming back. You also really know your stuff and I enjoy watching your farming and welding, etc. Keep it up, man!
Good Morning, Tyler! I’m slowly catching up on old videos! The Mud! I notice the difference in the quality from earlier to later videos! First Load to Winter Pasture! Second Load! Third load! 20 cows taken to Winter Pasture! Great older video! Thank-you! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great video tyler. I think the key to wprming cows especially by yourself is patients. Nothing makes wprking cows go south is that one guy thats starts yelling and screaming and getting whip happy. Thanks for sharing
That is so true Kory. I guess that’s why I prefer to work them either alone, with my wife, or with one particular friend of mine who totally gets that concept.
You been doing a excellent job with those healthy animals and beautiful ranch. Your lovely family, keep up the good work. Happy Holidays to the Farmer Tyler Ranch I enjoy all of your videos. I see you didn't have any trouble,I can't believe that ,maybe with your number twenty .
I grew up on a dairy when I was a teenager and early 20’s. In my early 40’s my foot started hurting so I went to the foot doctor and he said where I broke my foot did not heal back correctly. I said I’ve never broken that foot and he said I’ve broken it twice. I know how much a full grown Holstein weighs when she standing on top of your foot so I felt your pain. Thanks for your vids, I drink my morning coffee with them.
Shalom! Hello Farmer Tyler, I really enjoy learning from your experience and knowledge as a Rancher. I always share your videos with my son and grandsons so that they may gleem from you. I also wanted to mention that you really have great camera techniques and you are a great director. Thank you and your wife so very much and blessings to you and yours!
Great video-good way to start the new year! Folks who’ve never worked with 1500 lb animals don’t realize how dangerous even a docile-looking animal can be. A cow with a mind of its own is a formidable critter. I never got kicked by a cow, but I got my foot stepped on by a horse. All it takes is once to learn to not let your mind wander when working with big animals!
Nice to see the process of caring for the cows & sorting them out for the winter pasture. I still tend to get a little nervous watching work the cows by yourself. Especially when working them to the shoot. As always, thanks for sharing & stay safe.
Thanks for taking us along with you today, Great video, your cows for the majority are all pretty calm and handle easily but you are pretty calm around them as well. Have a great day & God Bless.
@@gregorycross612 yes sir, Tyler always is like this when he is working with his stock, he never uses a shock wand either, always treats them with respect as well. He will go far this year on Subs because of that. have a great day. ~God Bless~
Another great video. I’ve had to work cattle myself as well. At least you have a nice facility to work them in. Can be a little dangerous in that thick mud. Good job.
You definitely make it look easy working cows by yourself. But it helps how patience u are. You know the pressure point of cattle very well. Don't need to tell and carry on like a wild man to work cattle. Great videos.
Excellent video Tyler. Cow's have their own personality and their attitude can change on a whim. You may work cattle and all goes great no issues then the next time you work them it's like dang what else is going to go wrong.
This is a great video for anyone learning to handle cattle... slow, calm, no yelling, no shocker. We preg checked 45 last night in 1hour and 20 min. Had 1 bad group of cows that slowed us down. Always a good day when no one gets hurt!
great job, you make everything look so easy,I was kicked in the middle of my back once and I was leery never help load cattle again ,I thank Jesus I didnt have any injury, being 16 helped, you and yours have a blessed week
Cool video, and YES , if I got kick in stomach from one of those cows, I too would remember it the rest of my life and it would never happen again !!! Thanks again for your time and video !!
Tyler , looks like your Grand father had a pretty good set up going to handle these beasts. You certainly learned how to handle them I’m sure from him. Good job .
Every herd has that number 20 cow. Was working a group a few weeks ago and turned around in the pen. Wasn’t real close to the cows but one decided to ease on over to me and kicked me in the leg. Luckily it was in the muscle and wasn’t a solid shot. Keep up the good work!
WOW....40 by yourself...and the mud...You definitely are organized...Clearly not your first time..LOL This was definitely a full day for you, starting in the fog and sunny when you finished. Great job Tyler!! Was wondering when you bring them back from the winter pastures, do you have corrals or use panels...Help? You definitely know your herd behavior...I guess you always remember the problem kids....I sure do...lol You take good care of your cows Tyler!
As a country boy I grew up milking. One of the first things I learned was, “ A cow has to cock it leg to kick you.” Literally a cow’s leg Must travel forward to kick backwards. Still I received numerous kicks through the years. I just always hoped it would be by the Hoover and not the dew claw. Those dew claws can and do skin you upp, often through a pair of jeans. Another Great video Tyler, keep them coming.
Tyler, just subscribed to your channel. Great video, just curious if you have a drone could you get a shot of your corral, round pen and head gate setup from above? It looks like a pretty easygoing setup, especially for the cows. Thanks
Nice set up. I recently got an old squeeze chute and repaired it for my use. Now I get to sort of copy your setup to get them in the chute by myself. I only have 10 cows on my hobby farm but it is going to be a lot easier and safer in the future
I love how calm you are around the cattle. A tough skill for some to learn. My 2 cents? Life’s too short for big wild cows. If they can’t be trusted in a pasture, get rid of em. Buy some smaller, more gentle replacements. 1000lbs is plenty big enough for a cow.
Good morning to Farmer Tyler Ranch 😊,I see how wet it is. Like you said them cows will go through that mud fast. If I try I will fall and get stuck they will run over me. I hope it don't happen to you. They are healthy and pretty, with all that good beef.
Always like your videos, great camera work lots of different shots. Nice working chute for small to medium size farms or ranches. I like how you explain what and why you do what you are doing. Keep em up.
Really liked the aerial view towards the end...gives me some ideas how to build something similar.. I think you built your tub and chute system didn't you? Any video of it ? Thanks again FTR!!👏👍
Thanks BTO yes I did build it but that was just before my UA-cam career started! Too bad too, that would have given me a ton of videos. Corral design is tough! I planned that out for over a year and there’s already a few things that I want to change!
I just worked mine a couple days ago,Only 17 but i preg the cows so its a job.I put up a video of them on the stalk pasture yesterday!Nice looking girls you have!
With exception of the mud in the pen your setup beats what we had to death. Got kicked by a brown swiss at a dairy I worked at. I took to pre milk cleaning her from the next stall with a metal pipe barn loft support between her foot and my body. She tried for a really hard kick that made the pipe ring. That cow did limp a few days but never tried to kick me again.
How you doing I from La i love your shows you like me I do my farm my self my working pen is fixed far me i don't run my cows I take a white bucket and put a hand full of rocks in and just Shack it and they are coming I take my time the last 4 years my grandson helps me out a little I have stage 4 Lung Cancer and I not like I was but this is what keeps me going is working with my cows But get back to you keep putting some good stuff on you reminded me of the way I started I had over 135 head wine igot sick I cut back to 45 Head you never know what to look for when you wake up now I live from DayToDay You be Safe out With the cows Amen 👍👍🐂🐂🐂🙏🙏
I also work cows by myself. Loading gets my heart pumping, too. I always seem to have one turn around and try to come back on me. Then it’s a game of “chicken” to see who turns first. I need to invest in a nicer handling setup like you’ve got. I recently moved about 50 beef cows 1000 miles. I sold all the girls with a bad attitude and those hard on fences before the move.
Omg lol 👍😁 got me 😀😁👍 new scriber!!! Just watched the video working 40 cows your self?👍 Impressive . After the girls get back from winter pasture mabey there will be new baby’s soon 🙏🏻😀👍
Hi, Tyler Yes #20 very tough. The one behind #20 know joke. You look like u really enjoy working with those cows please be careful. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your day. Be Blessed
Thanks Jacky me too! Yes I built the tub with a Harbor Freight tube roller to get the radius on the tube. It was a lot of work but came out really nice. Smooth bends!
A friend got kicked in the thigh by a 6 to 9 mos old calf and the doctors told him he was LUCKY, it just bruised the femur. It took 6 mos to heal from that. We thought for sure his leg was shattered. I can't say I blame you for the flash backs....lol Keep up the good work!
Number 29 cracks me up! She was steaming even before it was her turn in the shoot. LOL And she sure would have rammed you hard if she wasn't stuck. Mean ole bitty she is.
As someone just getting started with cattle, I'm curious - how many hours a day of your time (on average) do these 40 cows take up? I'm getting 15 next week and still have a full time job, although I work from home and have pretty flexible hours.
Fence breakers and mean cows go to our winter pasture, the sale yard. Cattle are just like us, for the most part pretty docile but crowd their personal space or make them go where they don't know where they are going, they can become very dangerous. The number 20 shown is like one of our calm cows as we have had cows hit the squeeze chute so hard, we worried about the welds holding.
Yeah that didn’t really make it on camera. Out of the chute there is a gate that either puts them out to the corral when open or sends them to the trailer if it’s closed. It’s all temporary now hope to build it permanent soon

Looks like your pen could use a scrape to get the abundant manure out and then a few loads of DG to build it up.
Glad you got your phone back going. I like your setup. Did you build your tub? The cows look good. Have a good one

It's cool how you know some of the cows individually.

Thanks Dayspring Farm. I really like having a full squeeze chute but you can do a lot with a GOOD head gate.

Cows can turn on anyone in a heartbeat
I dreaded seeing the cow branded but it looked like she never felt it.
Some handle it better than others. She handled it good

It looked like overall, everything went pretty smoothly, at least from my angle over here. How many cows did you keep back?
Thanks Patrice! Yeah it wasn’t too bad. 20 went to the new pasture and 15 stayed here. So I guess the title is wrong, should have said 35 cows not 40
