I just wanted to jump on here to clarify something. I deal with patients with hair loss on a daily basis and I am always looking for tricks to help with the illusion. Just wanted to explain medications. Rogaine is an over the counter topical application that changes the cycle of your hair. So it does not regrow hair that is gone. It takes hair that is sleeping and wakes it up. It is not a cure so if you stop using it then you again change the growth cycle and that hair will quickly shed. If you have not seen a specialist in female pattern balding, there are medications that can help you inhibit more loss. There are treatments such as PRP or Stem Cell therapy that can help thicken hair that is still there but miniaturizing but again not a permanent cure. A hair transplant will move hair permanently but it does nothing to stop loss of the native hair so it is combining things that can give true long lasting results.

I’ve wanted to shave my head almost bald but I have a lot of scars and little random dents from picking at these bumps I get the from my doctor curing open a cyst and packing it and draining over and over so I don’t think my head almost bald will look good 😢

I feel EXACTLY the same way. In fact, I don't comb my hair unless I've just washed it and need to. It's very very scary. It takes me quite a long time to gently pick thru my hair. In fact, this is the reason I have not had my hair cut for more than a year. It's getting to the point now, however, that I fear the length of my hair is causing more hair loss. I'm biting the bullet today and getting it cut.

You are so right and it is emotionally devastating!! I am thinking you are in your 30's also. Look into a really good wig! That is what I am doing even though I am not at the age with this that everyone figures I should not care. But it sure messed with my singing career and performing in my 40's and up to 60. I have extreme hairfall like way too extreme and this was because of stress and iron defeciency my haemoglobin was low and through these I went through alot of hairfall and now my hair is. Very thin very thin I have bald spots quite but I try to hide it and I can't tie ponny tails neither a bun because if I tie pony it looks very thin and my bun also looks very small I used have my hair very thick and pretty and my bun would be Soo big but now I can't tie anything except a braid (single braid) even though my hair fall has stopped quite alot like j loose only less than 100 hairs nowadays but waiting for hair growth
      So what I did was
I started eating banana which have biotin and orange with have vitamin c that helps in absorption of iron and also 4 dates per day ( 4 dates per day are good to go)
      I wash my hair 2 a week
Once I oil and shampoo conditioner it and do a black tea hair rinse
Second time I mask my hair shampoo conditioner and then followed by a rice water hair rinse
I hope this helps u out and also pls forgive me for spelling mistakes

I have been receiving Rituximab infusions for over a year and half and am swapping to Imuran & methotrexate- all to make my lupus pretend to dissipate. I’ve been looking at videos and such about hair systems and what to do when I lose all of my hair- I’m middle eastern and used to have very, very thick and long dark hair. I just watched your video and I want to tell you that you are quite possibly the most beautiful human I have ever seen. You’re lovely on the outside and the inside!! Don’t you let it bother you one bit that you must cover the thinning spots- you’d be gorgeous bald, thick hair, long or short. It’s YOU. Just a darling woman. I tried this and liked it but it made my hair sooo dry that it was breaking even more. I feel stupid for letting my hair rule my life so much but I really struggle at 28. I remember when I was 16 a classmate asking me if I was going bald and another nodding in agreement, I'd never noticed (even though soon it would have been very obvious) but immediately after that I stared at myself and analysed my hair and from then on I was very aware and sensitive about it. My scalp is also very greasy so worst of both worlds, I try not to wash it too much but if I don't wash it every day then I have to wear a hat even though I've heard that's also bad for hair. Sometimes you just can't win. I considered things like a wig but I'm at an age where my friend group are the same people and it would be incredibly obvious, I think they'd support me but it's me who can't bear the thought of everyone I know knowing I'm wearing a wig... Also the idea of meeting someone interested in you and feeling like a fraud and knowing you have to show them. Sometimes I want to shave it but I know that I'm so bald that as it grows back it would look even more awful. Also I can't talk about it ever because noone around me has anything like it (of course there are worse things..) and if I mention my self esteem problems to my mum she cries because she has a full head of thick hair at 60 and feels guilty and I hate making her feel that way. Recently my mum showed me a picture of when I was 16 because she found it, I remember thinking I had no hair and feeling really bad but I actually had two thick plaits and it made me burst in to tears for my past self feeling that way and also in loss. Which sounds stupid because it's only hair, but hopefully you know what I mean by that.

I empathize completely given I’m in a very similar situation. I began thinning at 15, now I’m 23 and this week was actually the first time I spoke to someone outside of my immediate family about it. For years I hid it, felt unworthy, ashamed. But after opening up to my boyfriend about it (and he didn’t even mind which was such a relief) I realized how badly our minds trick us. I assure you the weight you feel is because of a negative narrative your mind is feeding you. The moment you accept that your flaws are a part of you and you face that and share your struggles with others is the moment those flaws lose all their power, almost in an instant. It’s easier said than done for sure but just know you’re not alone and acceptance is on the other side of fear. I believe in you!

This is so emotional for me, I have had the most hair loss at the front center, I barely have any hair for a hairline. I used to this product but it's just not enough anymore. I appreciate your confidence and am still working on mine but it's a struggle everyday. People who don't deal with this may not understand how devastating it can be. I've gone to dermatologists, taken oral medicine, used topical medicine, tried topper wigs. I know this sounds selfish but I am grateful that I can work a few days a week from home right now. For the money I spend on covering my bald (that's what I refer to mine as too) I am actually thinking of hair transplant. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I'm in this same situation and it felt really good to hear you talking about all the things I go through and think about. For a long time I was scared to touch my hair or mess with it at all. It got so thin and finally I decided there's no point in keeping it long. I cut it off to right below my ears and I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Not only does the shorter length give it body by removing the extra weight but now that I'm not constantly putting it up it doesn't come out as much. I didn't realize how much tension was being put on it just by always keeping it up. I still have to use a spray like what you use but I'm hopeful that it'll start recovering a bit now that I can just leave it down.

I have been battling gradual hair thinning and hair loss for the past 4 years, a little less of my scalp was visible compared to yours. I noticed using Batiste/dry shampoo was one of the biggest contributors after I cut it out and had better consistent growth after a couple of months that I couldn't get from hair growth shampoos or vitamins or anything else I tried. I looked it up and saw that other women have had the same issues with hair loss from this product and that dry shampoo actually smothers the hair follicle and scalp which leads to weak hair that breaks off and clogged pores that prevent new growth. It's only supposed to be used once or twice a week max and then rinsed out by the end of the day and I know I was using it daily to cover my spots for the past couple of years. Best of luck on your hair journey!

This hit home for me, hard! I feel you girl!!! I could cry when I look at old pictures of myself with my thick pretty curly hair. Now I do the same thing sort of. I am 2 years out from gastric sleeve and have lost almost the same amount of weight. I am also a decade older than you are. I wear my hair the same way most of the time because of the horrible balding. I do have curly hair so I tease mine a bit while the dry shampoo is still "wet" then I use a freeze hair spray on it and comb it up to give it volume. I have no clue how to make a video on here or to show pictures but this technique is what I have been doing for over a year. I take vitamins and followed all the rules with getting my protein in but my hair is still thinning. I do have wigs in several styles and colors but most days I do just what you are doing. There is another type of dry shampoo that you can use called "not your mothers dry shampoo" or something and that works really good too. I got it at CVS on sale. You can contact me on facebook and see my pictures or whatever if you want to. Keep rocking ladies!! This is not easy to even share but for some reason your video hit me in the feels tonight!!

I'm so glad that I came across your video, my hair looks so much like yours. I've found that same brand of dry shampoo that you use and it sure has made a huge difference. For my edges I use Castor oil mixed with either coconut oil or rosemary oil, that has been great to help with new hair growth. My little bald spots are filling in with baby hair. Thank you for sharing your challenge with us who can relate. It's good to know that I'm not the only person who is going though hair loss. I've found a great support system here in the comments. Thank you for being so up beat and positive.

Amazing empowerment for other woman. It might sound crazy but try to change your eating habits to grow your hair. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, there was a point in time where it happened to me just a little corner on the side of my left head. I changed my eating habits and eventually gotten my hair back and it has never been more healthy. Trust it changed my life.

You're right about eating. I went through a period when I lost my older brother to cirrohsis and I stopped eating, I was so depressed I had no idea I was balding up front nor did it matter to me. After my brothers funeral my best friend/sister force fed me, we ate 4 meals plus healthy snacks in between. My hair literally started growing back almost instantly! Years later my hair just started falling out again.. Went to the dermatologist and he said it was genetics. I'm so sad and embarrassed by my scalp now I need to use wigs. Using with isn't embarrassing - it's fun! Anyways sorry for blabbing, I just wanted to share. Have a great day 🙂

    • @janeevanz

Leilani Leilani oh wow, I’m sorry for your loss❤️, I understand. Doctors always say it’s Genetics however, we have a lot of daily stresses in our lives also. Don’t always trust in their words cuz sometimes with a little research and understanding about health it can change us. It doesn’t help with all our fast paced life either and our bodies have to adapt to it and take some minor toll. My "Doctor" prescribed some vitamin pills that had unnecessary ingredients and was un-beneficial & made me start vomiting and not wanting to eat which created stress hormones in my body, my hair would fall out. Be careful with those.
Eventually I started eating healthier on a Vegan diet for a while, mind you I eat meat but I cut it out and started producing more growth, trust me, I’ve never been more astonished to a simple thing by eating healthier.
You are definitely a strong willed beautiful woman! Keep being positive and ignore the haters. We all go through different things and I appreciate you sharing a piece of your life.

I have to use before makeup, bcuz it can leave splatter marks on your face, ears, etc. Also, if I were you, I would HIGHLY consider cutting your hair at least above the shoulders or even a little longer. I am telling you, it makes a HUGE difference!!! It awakens your hair, hair seems healthier, it LOOKS healthier and fuller and so much more. You look beautiful!!!!

I so admire you for sharing this video. I am getting female pattern baldness and right now I have enough bangs in the front to tease up and then wear a fall in the back. Wig companies truly make wonderful hair toppers (all different varieties), wigs, falls, etc. that are lightweight and realistic. I get so many compliments on my hair and it sure does save me a lot of time. I get that a lot of women are reluctant to wear a wig but I went into a few wig shops and tried a few on and I have never looked back. But, I love your attitude and spunkiness and I think you look beautiful.

Funny how this video finds me today, I'm 36 and got my head, full of thick dense hair, shaved today morning. There are two reasons for it, one I'd treated my hair multiple times in the past and they just didn't feel like quality hair and the other reason is the magic potion that I'd be applying to check how fast is the growth going to be!!
Magic potion can be a quick DIY: Boil curry leaves in water, once it cools down, optional to add a vitamin E oil (1 capsule) and 1 tbsp aloevera gel. Apply this potion on the hair or patches, it's a leave in. You may rinse it off too. Either way works. You'll notice baby hair sprouting back, irrespective the age!
    Give it a go 💓

Your hair loss pattern is ideal for a hair topper, not extensions or wigs. Get a topper with a wide enough cap. And you brush the length into your own length. They can't be worn straight out of box, you need to wear at home and give it time to shape itself. Then wear it to a salon so they can cut it in a way to blend better with your hair and style how you like.

Thanks for the brave videos! You have such grace. My hair loss started the same way..the crown. It has been severe and relentless for me too. After ruling out all the big stuff, I found keeping my ferritin levels up (desiccated liver or yellow dock) and my vitamin D levels up helped a great deal. I also tested positive for heavy metal poisoning. Hope these are some new ideas. Bob haircuts hide a multitude of thinning and evils. I have the bottom cut to be blunt bottomed. Then I part in the most favorable way. I will also do highlights to keep the hair coast to my scalp looking lighter in color which is less contrast to white scalp! It also gives the illusion of depth that isn't there. Hugs to you and all readers similarly afflicted.

I finally found a way to put my hair up (for work) that doesn't make me look bald. So if you take the front 3ish inches, pull the rest back, out of the way, and part down the middle. Then you'll take the front right section, put it in a little pony tail, do the same for the left. Take both of those and make one pony tail. Flip to the front door now. Take the back and put it in a pony. Pull the scrunchie down just a little. You'll take the front pony that you combined earlier and hold it above your head. Tuck the end of that pony into itself front to back. It will give you some volume. Then take that same front pony and tuck it in between a parted back pony tail and tada! You can find this on Pinterest too.

My heart is breaking for you. Please give yourself a hug, and a break. You said you’d had a gastric sleeve procedure a year ago. A HUGE metabolism shift. Then you did probably the only thing that could be more of a metabolic change, you had a baby! Hon, you created life! Are you nursing your little one? All of that will take a while to settle down and let you get to your new normal. Maybe your hair issue will improve, maybe not, but you are a strong resilient woman. You will continue to cope with it and live a rich and fulfilling life either way. Give yourself some time. By the way, my hair is thinning too, that’s why I wanted to watch your video, and my current method to disguise it is with eye shadow. You can get pretty cheap ones, in most any color add a coat of hair spray to make it stay put, and you’re good to go! Love and hugs. (PS just so we’re clear, I’m not saying you are responsible for what is going on. You made good decisions to improve your life! Celebrate 🎉)

Thank you! That is wonderful! I can't wait to try that. I am going to do that forever. I always wear my hair up bc it is so hot here in Austin and I also have to wear it up for work. I am so afraid of losing more hair from pulling that I always wear it right on top of my head, not back where your pony is. Plus, tension headaches suck. Like where Ariana Grande puts hers up top but not pulled back so sleek and maybe an inch closer to my forehead. I also try to loosen it slightly in the very front to drape it slightly forward on my forehead to hide my receding hairline some like Melania does hers. You look great! I love your attitude! I am so glad you have found a working solution and are getting out there and enjoying your life. I know we can spend so much time worrying in front of our mirror that we can start to hideout. I know I'm late to the convo, but about five years ago I discovered this product was great for extending time between shampoos (have fine, fragile hair)-- and it worked *so* well, that it took me an extra year or two to realize my hair was thinning *significantly*. Since then I've upped my usage, and not only is it my go-to for hiding my growing thin spots, it is so validating to see someone else as thrilled over this product as I am😊. I do wish there were a brunette product that was less ashy/had more shine, but what with the nature of the product being to cut oiliness and all I know I'm asking for too much. Anyways, your video is lovely; looking forward to finding more since you're relatable and funny! And I feel less down about my long dark patchy hair😅
