  • Hello everyone, thank you for coming to watch this video. However, if you feel it will be too difficult a watch for you, I do understand. Please look after yourselves first and foremost.
It was a difficult video for me to make, I can't lie. Louis' passing was very unexpected because he showed no signs of even feeling off colour, let alone being so close to the end of his life. He is missed so much and it's still difficult for me to look out of the kitchen window, which I find myself doing, to see if he's sitting in one of his sunny spots that he loved so much.
Louis was an enormous personality wrapped up in a little cat's body and he's left such a huge hole. Even though he wasn't ours officially, he spent an awful lot of time here, especially indoors during Winter and only going outside to do his toilet things. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that I never heard anyone on our street say anything but nice things about him; what a lovely, friendly lad he was, how he was getting on in years, etc.
Any sort of bereavement, whether it be your human or non-human family, is difficult and sad. Please do feel free to share any stories you want to with me down in the Comments and it goes without saying, that we should all be kind and courteous, doesn't it?
I've set this video to "Not for kids", as usual. However, if you want to let younger family members see what it's like to lose a furry family member and you're OK with them seeing me get upset, then let them watch if you want to.
See you in the next video, friends.

Very sorry about this. All livings are temporary, we have to remember it and accept it, always. It's nature.

This is never easy.🥺 Losing a dear pet is a true loss. To be trusted, to be loved by an animal is such an honor and a blessing. It may be something people say we “have to accept,” but that doesn’t make the loss any less painful. You gave Louis a beautiful life and that meant the world to him. He’s watching over you now, from afar🥹💕 Please be well and remember, it’s okay to grieve a pet, it’s a way to find peace. My thoughts are with you. Be well🌈⭐️

Thank you for your lovely words. You're right, it's never easy, even if they were only with us for a short time, we still love them and they still love us. I'm getting there - we're getting there (Louis' passing affected my other half too as he spent a lot of time upstairs with Ian while he worked, squeezing himself into places he shouldn't and keeping Ian on his toes). I don't know if we'll "get" another cat. The Feline Distribution System may deem itself fit to grace us with one of these wonderful little beings again in the future and if that's the case, so be it. I've said for years though that if we physically "get" more, I would like to offer a home to two from the same home that are older and can't be separated, that may be FIV+ and need to be kept indoors and that get overlooked at the shelter (we have a cat shelter in Sheffield, as well as Cat's Protection) because of their age, the fact they need to be kept together and indoors and the fact that they have FIV. FIV doesn't need to be a life-limiting condition and can be treated symptomatically - it isn't the death sentence it used to be years ago (and isn't transmittable to humans).
