If you serve only those who pay you, then ultimately you are making its easy for ruling party, because less people will pay, and even if you are doing good work, you work will reach to minimum people.
Simple example हैं, सुबह शाम "वाहवाही करने वाले so called news channel, Free DTH पे आ रहे हैं, जहाँ भक्ति आरती, cartoons, entertainment के साथ साथ "वाहवाही" के दोहे सुनाए जाते हैं, और आम जनता को तो वही देखने को मिलता हैं, तो वो उसी को सच मान के मतदान करती हैं,
तो कोई ताज्जूब नहीं, के वो कैसे जित जाते हैं ।
और आप अपने "जो pay करेगा उसी को news दिखेगा" वाले जिद्द के चलते, अच्छा काम करने के बावजूद भी परिवर्तन नहीं ला पाते,
जरा दिमाग लगाओ, jio ने market कैसे हथीया लिया, वो देखो, आज jio और बाकी telecom operators करीब करीब same हि charge करते हैं, अगर शुरु में हि jio same tariff rate रखता तो क्या इतने लोग jio में shift होते ? नहीं
तो पहले मुफ्त रखते हैं, फिर नाम मात्रा मूल्य रखते हैं, फिर थोडा बढाते लेकिन सामान्य से कम हि रखते हैं, और जब पर्याप्त मात्रा में ग्राहक हो जाए तब सामान्य दर रखते हैं, ता कि अगर 40% भी ग्राहक pay करने लगे तो भी वो कोई बुरा सौदा नहीं होगा।

My suggestion to Newslaundry is that, don't put content behind pay walls. Instead monetize your UA-cam channel.
I understand, you guys claim to be an ad-free platform but you aren't on TV to be taking Sponsorship from brands and in barter playing their ads.
Yes, you shouldn't take in-program promotions but you can definitely monetize your UA-cam channel. As ads playing on UA-cam are as per Google/UA-cam's AI which features ads to people as per their internet behaviour.
In that case, you aren't under any obligation to any brand or entity.
I say the above because your efforts of neat n clean journalism goes for a toss when you yourself limit your reach by putting videos behind pay wall. You defeat your own purpose. Yes, every organisation needs to earn to survive. So how about you guys monetize your UA-cam channel and earn while your content reaches on a much wider scale too. That will help both, Newslaundry as well as your content consumers who seek some ray of light in the dark era of Godi Media.
