Hello brother, thanks for the nice video, I have a question, once Ubuntu is successfully installed, It becomes the default Operating system. how can I configure that so that I get prompted with both two options to choose one, either ubuntu or Mac os?
Models with Apple's NVMe controller (MacBookPro13,1, MacBookPro13,2, MacBookPro14,1 and MacBookPro14,2) require disabling the d3cold PCIe power state for the NVMe controller to successfully wake up again: echo 0 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:01\:00.0/d3cold_allowed. This command must be executed from root, and ideally on startup, since the file is rewritten to '1' on startup. Even then resume is incredible slow and takes up to a minute, probably due to additional bugs. For the 15" models with additional AMD GPU resume only works when using the internal Intel GPU.

If your Mac does have a T2 chip, you will need to take an additional step before installing Ubuntu. Specifically, you will need to disable a feature that prevents the Ubuntu installer from booting from external media. To enable external booting on a Mac with T2 Chip, first, restart your Mac and hold the Command + R keys to boot into recovery mode. From the menu bar, choose Utilities, then Startup Security Utility. In the Startup Utility, select the option to allow booting from external media to successfully install Ubuntu on your Mac.

Hi, many thanks!! Very helpful and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is a nice system!
Everything went smooth, I feel like having a brand new computer !! Thanks a thousand times :)
Yes it is.
This is like next level hackintoshing
haha
Hello, Thanks for your video. But i get my trackpad and keyboard unresponsive after Ubuntu loading! I can not complete the Ubuntu setup. Any fix for this problem? mac 15" 2018. Ubuntu20.04
I understand the problem, Mac with T2 ship has some issues. Do one thing, if you have bluetooth keyboard / mouse connect it to Mac to see if that helps. If it works install ubuntu .
Then try this driver - github.com/roadrunner2/macbook12-spi-driver
@@kskroyaltechFirst, would like to thank you Soooooo much for this video, I have been trying to install ubuntu on my intel mac for about 10 days and have watched a lot of videos but all gave a GRub error., I have managed to connect the external keyboard and mouse and all worked just fine EXCEPT the most important thing. WIFI :( I looked around a lot and could not find a fix. MY mac Is a Macbookpro 2018 A1990 and I have checked oireg -l | grep requested files and i think I have Broadcom c-4364. Any ideas on how can install the wifi drive without an Ethernet connection? thanks in advance.

Thank you, i was going crazy trying to install Linux on my macbook😂
No worries!
Super!!🎉 Thnx Subscribed!
Ubuntu 24.04 doesn't give you the option to select EFI for the boot partition.
Choose the macOS EFI...

Help me please! I installed Ubuntu on my 2009 Mac and it shows 4 windows at once on the monitor and the same thing is mirrored everywhere. How to make one desktop, and not 4 at the same time?
Successfully installed Ubuntu 24.04 LTS alongside macOS on my mid 2012 MacBook Pro. No issues with wifi. Thanks!
Awesome
It’s not removing Ubuntu with that trick says drive is in use
Hey, can I install both ubuntu and windows following this video? I will do actions for ubuntu, and then the same for windows, will it work without issues?
On Mac it's tedious to do Ubuntu and windows at the same time.
How to make mac os automatically be the os that gets booted
Boot into MacOS. Then open spotlight search and type Start Up disk utility, choose ubuntu and restart. Thats it when ever your system boots up it will load ubuntu.
i did this because my mac was software bricked by the previous owner. i would like to remove ubuntu and get some sort of macos back onto my imac. is that possible?
Has anyone achieve this on iMAC 2020? Dual boot or straight Ubuntu?
Macbook pro and ventura os doesn't work... it get freeze in the install menu
Can I use same usb drive to run ubuntu on windows?
Nope it wont work . On windows you need to recreate the Ubuntu bootable USB..
Wonderful. Thank You.
so this tutorial made my mac vanish and now i lost all my items
Do you still need the t2 specific ISO's? I know t2 Linux has them. Has the driver situation improved for say, a 2018 MBA?
Successfully dual booted but after using macos again I can’t get back to linux its just giving the non entry sign
Can you shutdown your Mac !! Then Hold Power + OPTION until you see boot options. Choose ubuntu.
I keep freezing at language select, no keyboard or mouse movement but my trackpad is still powered on. Help pls! 🫶🏻✨
Try to pass a kernel argument named *nomodeset* and install ubuntu. See this video: ua-cam.com/video/ZzC4xCMBe1Y/v-deo.html
My mouse and keyboard are not recognised when I'm at 6:30 neither my wifi is detected
Did u try connecting wired or wireless USB mouse / keyboard ?!
I was able to connect with wired mouse and keyboard for installation, but what to do after it? I mean I’m not able to connect to wifi as well, I think drivers are missing
Thank you so much, I was trying to do this on different versions of linux but you showed me where i was going wrong. I'm not an Ubuntu fan so will try my flavor of linux first. if it fails i'll give ubuntu a go. thanks so much!
Hey :)
Is it possible to encryp the partion used for ubuntu at the installation? So instead of choosing ext 4 I would choose physicsl volume for encryption. Do you think it might work or do I habe to add some other things as well?
Thanks so much in advance!
Do encrypt any linux partitions especially on Mac hardware.. I cannot say exact reasons. Just don't. BUt... You can use chmod or chown to lock the home folder after installation.
After i select start up security utility the only option i get is to turn on firmware passowrd how do i reach the strtup security screen?
NO need to worry just follow the tutorial straight up .
I tried it with Zorin and partitioned my 500 gb disk, giving Linux 200 gb, and macos 300 gb
How was the experience ?
@@kskroyaltech it went smooth, also was successful, which was what I had some anxiety about
@@kskroyaltechwait how do you remove it? I now want linux gone
Actually nevermind
Will you make the one with external ssd?
Testing bro, currently Rufus is having an issues.
Hey Great Video, but I'm having issues with my Macbook Pro mid 2014, with Big sur version 11.7.6 (20G1231)
When I boot with alt (option) the usb it's not being recognized, I only see the main SSD and it kinda freezes. I tried with Balena and also tried with DD command line to create the flash drive. Could you help me out please?
My keyboard and trackpad dosent work when i launch linux, what can i do to resolvet?
Install it using any USB mouse or Keyboard. While installing choose to download all drivers.
Hi, you are really help me, I was close to delete my macOS, you are save me from this mistake 😅
Happy to help
Thank you, bro.
Anyway, did anyone ever mention you sound like Donald Trump? :)
You are welcome .
Yes many told I sound like him
the usb storage is not recognised in the boot menu any solution?
If your Mac does have a T2 chip, you will need to take an additional step before installing Ubuntu. Specifically, you will need to disable a feature that prevents the Ubuntu installer from booting from external media.
To enable external booting on a Mac with T2 Chip, first, restart your Mac and hold the Command + R keys to boot into recovery mode. From the menu bar, choose Utilities, then Startup Security Utility. In the Startup Utility, select the option to allow booting from external media to successfully install Ubuntu on your Mac.
@@kskroyaltechhow about the driver issues?
10:23 I have a question what if you wanted to add another distro after you did this one would you have to do the exact same thing with the other distro.
almost same, you just need to leave some free space for other distros.
@@kskroyaltech Thanks
Have you had a chance to fix issue with suffering from Sleep/Wake?
I tried but no proper drivers yet.
mac os its just like ubuntu so why do u need to switch to ubuntu?
Cause it's open source.
@kskroyaltech ohh yeaaah I forgot about that shit
For some reason when I boot I cannot seem to move my mouse or keyboard doesn't function, I am using MacBook Air (intel). I get to screen where it says welcome and to install ubuntu but then I can't move my mouse. Any suggestion
Use mouse and Keyboard to install ubuntu. After the installation your keyboard and mouse will work.
Make sure while installing Ubuntu you need to tick the two options that says download updates while installing (REQUIRES INTERNET) and install drivers.
@@kskroyaltech will it always boot ubuntu first? is there a way to priotize mac os ?

Hey man! I was able to bott Ubuntu all thanks to you. But my trackpad and keyboard aren't doing anything. Any ideas on how to deal with that?
Would you mind If I tell You to check GitHub repos , I cannot tell specific driver to install. It depends on the model. For your reference see this repo: github.com/Dunedan/mbp-2016-linux#keyboard--touchpad
Awesome thank you very much @kskroyaltech
Dang! Installation was going great and then ‘Failed to create a file system. The ext4 file system creation in partition #4 of SCSI1(0,0,0)(sda)failed.’ HELP please!!!
Maybe get 23.04 it's WAY simpler and I'll tell you the steps for 23.04
So once you get to where you want to install it, click sda 3 and click minus
Then click on 'free space' and click the plus
Leave all settings as they are
At the bottom click the dropdown and click /
Click the 'free space' drive and click next
For 23.04 that should solve your problem
