I am also same age as you, 37 and single (probably intend to stay so for rest of my life). I left my corporate job last year June, which I was paid quite a high salary of over 10k monthly. Now I am driving PHV, just to pass time and earn some daily income. I am considered barista fire, as also similar to you my high income over the years in the past and investments helps me built a substantial nest egg already and I just want to leave the rat race and enjoy life over earning more $$. Hope you can find your right path too!
Thanks for sharing your story. It’s good that you had the prudence to set aside funds when you were drawing a high income and therefore able to barista FIRE now. Quite often I see higher earners spend a lot as well which just feels so high risk to me. Appreciate the candid sharing and well wishes!
Take this time to re organize your next chapter, just like when we go to firing range ,we need to zero our rifle, wish you the best in ur next journey, don't rush ,smell the roses before u start the madness of wkg life..cheers!!
I am same age as you and also going to left my corporate job end of Feb. 😄Probably at least in this few months, I will like to spend more time with family, considering barista fire, doing some skill upgrade, attend course, doing things I like and maybe some side hustle and doing some content. If things don't work out well, will keep a lookout and back to corporate job haha
You should probably go for the interview if that’s your wish. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with the firm and the reasons for leaving are a lot more about me 🥲
You are the same age as me. I have a professional degree (FCCA), it is so specialized in that particular field which made me handicap after I was unemployed at the age of 35. I am self employed in a totally different industry now and I am really glad that I've left corporate life as I finally realized that money cannot buy time and being self employed means you have control of your own time and income. All the best to you!
Hey thanks for sharing your experience. Glad that you have found something that makes you happy outside of corporate life! I’m indeed looking forward to being self-employed again 😄 Thanks for the comment and well wishes, all the best to you too!
Hello 👋 I’m curious why do you leave Provident? How about joining FA? I also did a career change last year to FA from accounting and also doing tuition full time and teaching in school too
I have spent at least a decade in both FA and tuition 😅 Will probably do a video on the reasons why I left if there is enough demand for it. Thanks for the comment!
oh i thought u are around 25. i like your contents. very insightful . you are one of my fav financial influencer. wish u all the best for next chapter.
Regardless of what path you chose you take from this point onwards, it's probably a good good opportunity reset from your routine and a good chance to get a better hold on what's gonna be more important to you for the next stage of your life. I think many people got the feeling that their work is no longer fulfilling for them but they simply don't have the courage to step away and start anew. It's also a privilege that you have the financial stability to have a choice going forward (i.e. don't have to immediately start another full-time job to put food on the table). That's all results of good financial planning you've done in the last decade of your working life. I think it's also a good lesson for all of us in a way :) Goodluck going forward bro, whatever you choose to pursue.
Hi there, first of all I want to thank you for the very thoughtful comment. I did not expect to get such a considered response to my yapping 😅 Appreciate your kind words and best of luck to you too 🙏
We were trying to find something mutually beneficial but I guess some things are not meant to be. But while the paths split I don’t think they will diverge very much. I guess this has to be more elaborated in a full video on its own 😅 Thanks for the comment
if you do choose the driving option, please document it! It's such a struggle going through the school route cos it's almost impossible to book lesson slots...
I opine that it will be better to go through the private driving instructor route though the number of such instructors is dwindling and even becomes extinct.
Actually you might be able to take more jobs like going for finance related events since you are now working full time with content creation. As for mid career support for taking degree or diploma, you can work it out with SSG on how you can get support given that you are slightly below 40 yo.
Haha yeah I definitely will have more time and energy to focus on my finfluencer side of things! For SSG, I don’t think can appeal la. But I wil look into it. Thanks for the comment!
Hahah funnily enough I have been self employed for like 13 years until I got this full-time job. But yeah excited to be back to self employment! Thanks for the nice words!

When you first did the video with Chris, I felt that you weren’t a suitable match this role. It’s good you both have moved on. All the best for your career ahead.
@ from a management perspective, having a YT channel aka side hustles with a full time job (commitment with Providend), do not seem to gel. I’m sure you are aware of Christopher’s goals for the company. I would say he needs someone with that fervor and commitment. Just my observation but I may be wrong. You need to know what you want in life first.
Yeah I can see why it doesn’t seem to gel. But the company is openminded enough to see whether it would work out which is why they offered me the job after watching my video. I think I would have fit nicely in another role within the company but it is unfortunately occupied. Such is life. Thanks for the elaboration.
