Awesome vid, Nick. We're doing the opposite route. From Magotho Khwai to Chobe Safari Lodge. How long did it take for you to do Kasane to Savuti? And can you advise how long it'll take for Khwai to Kasane? We have two drivers in the car, so we should be able to split driving responsibilities.
What's better than a few dance moves all alone with ur car nd nature? Nice moves by the way. Video very informative. Thanks man. Haven't done that part of the country, hopefully next year
haha thanks Dru! exactly. this route was quite a mystery to me and with a lot of conflicting information became quite a concern. In the end it was fairly easy, keeping in mind I have a decent 4x4 and it is during the dry winter.
This is excellent, many thanks for posting. I have a two-week self drive camping safari in Namibia for October 2022. I hope to do Botswana on August 2023. A special hello from Ireland 🇮🇪
Thnx.very helpful as we are planning similar but reverse order ………. Maun, Moremi, Khwai,,Mbabe Gate, Marsh River Road (in Sept so dry hopefully), Savuti Rest Camp, Savuti Airstrio, West to Linyanti or straiight North to Kachikau & thence to Ihaha Camp……. Kasane etc etc Thoughts …..?
Hello, on the 4th of April I will arrive in Windhoek, rent a 4x4 car and by the end of the day I plan to be in Botswana. Do you think it is possible to go to Kasane using the Maun - Savuti - Kasane route in 3 days? Basicaly one night sleeping around Savuti, because for the first night I will sleep most certine somwere close to the border between Namibia and Botswana (my airplani is landing arount 10 AM). Thank you
if you land at 10am, you will probably leave between 12-1. If I was you I would add a night and for me that would still too fast. I would stay Ghanzi, Maun, Khwai, Savuti and then Kasane. the distances arent long but the roads can be difficult and slow
@@NickfrNamibia Thank you very much, I believe I planned to see too many places for my small vacation of only two weeks..... Windhoek - Maun - Savuti - Kasane - VicFalls - Kasane - Rundu - Etosha - Epupa - Skeleton Coast - Swakopmund - Sossusvlei - Windhoek.....
Hi David. I drove it in 2 parts. From Kasane to Mwandi View camp. That was about an hour on a tar road. The next day I travelled through Kachikau and on to Savuti. About 5 hours for that section, keeping in mind that I make regular stops and take time for filming. The road conditions I faced was fairly straightforward and I was able to probably average around 40km/h. Like I mentioned in the video, this is during the dry winter.
Yip, as soon as you leave the tar road at Kachikau you are in it🙂 I usually start fairly high 1.8 (everyone has their preference) then reduce more if needed. If I remember correctly I only reduced again for the sand ridge between Savute and the gate that takes you to Khwai.
@@NickfrNamibia Thanks, we're going all the way to Khwai immediately, but 1,8 is advised for deep sand on our car anyway. First time doing 4x4 like this, but gotten more used to the car as we have it for a week now
Damn I cant remember, did I not show the name? there is a better one, thinks its no4/leopard view...but always booked. The one I had was right at the end with a river view
Distances:
Kasane to Kachikau is about 90km, a tar road.
Kachikau to Savuti is about 70km, heavy sand.
You will need a 4x4 for this one.

Put a big smile on my face again! Thanks again and your moves are great.

Nick the dancing is abit rusty maybe its cause of the long hours of driving.🤣🤣
Glad you out there having fun
🙈😂😂😂 in my defence the music I am dancing to is completely different from that in the video (due to copyright)... as if that makes a difference😂

How long did the drive from Kasane to Savuti camp actually take you?

Great video! So you would advise to drop tire pressure right when you leave the tar? Any adjustments needed later?
