As an introvert, I have a fear of dying in a public place and there after my body being handled by strangers. Poor guy, who had to go in such horrible way, scared and being harrassed and abused my a gang. That too in a sacred place like a university. He probably had many dreams, many plans to travel, meet new people, achieve big things and make parents proud. Maybe he had wonderful ideas to bring a change to the society. Had to go like this. Who would have thought? All cause of a gang of filthy, sick people. I hope those people face much much more horrible things done to them. And live with life long traumas. Then the justice will be done.

Indian law is obviously not going to do anything on this. So the parents of the murdered student, yes "murdered" is the right word, need to get together a mob and take revenge on the parents and homes of the criminal seniors. Losing a child is punishment enough, losing him to this kind of evil is just too much to bear.

Unfortunately our generation has been raised to be a mob of soul less people lacking a moral compass. Even when they do have a conscience they will never take a stand. The one who speaks up is labelled 'aggressive' or 'a person who can't take a joke'. This is what we have been raised into- a generation of people-pleasing, mindless fools with no conviction of right and wrong. People nowadays either are the perpetrators or the spectators. There is no hope.
I feel the opposite though, our generation is more accepting of diversity, we have a better sense of boundaries, we acknowledge generational trauma, we call out toxic masculinity toxic femininity, we don't have extreme gender bias, caste bias religion bias even sexual orientation bias. That being said there will always be bad people and a crime against humanity is the worst crime of all.

Such incident in this JU hostel has happened before. More will happen in Future too. No steps were taken before and no steps wl be taken in future. The parents lost their son. The mom is promised of a job in lieu of her son's death by CM Bengal. That's the end of story. That's it!!
There is ample evidence that victims of bullying are scarred for life, especially when they're school and college going kids. In spite of this none of the so-called advanced countries are doing anything about seriously dealing with this menace. Where such actions lead to death, the bullies must be given life sentences. It's depressing to find how popular sitcoms just laugh about bullying instead of calling it out for what it is - and I accuse Seinfeld, FRIENDS, Frasier and other such shows of this neglect. It ought to be mandatory for educational institutions to have anti-bullying policies which the parents and students must be made aware of at the admissions stage.
I’ve only ever cried for serious rape or torture or women and children but this is the first time I’ve felt so much pain for a 17year old teen. The fact that he was just starting out in life, makes this so much worse.
