I don’t thin’ this technically applies here. It talks about how a someone has survived for a long time in a job where people die young. These old guys have been in the army just as long as the younger guys.
Since nobody has mentioned this yet, Ernie Pyle was a journalist during WW2 who traveled around with the military, telling stories about the everyday, American soldiers and their day to day lives.
he even missed 4 Awards here. they also got 4 Air Medals. those are awarded for "single acts of heroism or meritiousachievement while participating in aerial flight". A fucking INFANTRY division got 4 air medals.
It's hilarious that he mentioned "there's far more information about nutrition and stuff to help men fight". Yes and most all that information came from what they did to the 77th. An not even realizing it
The reason the Japanese did not know that the bay was occupied by the 77th was because the people who would have informed them were dead or running from being attacked. By the time their command found out about it, that ship was already on the way and nobody had bothered to let them know en-route. Losing your supply point is a huge deal so they were busy with trying to figure out how reestablish their logistics and werent thinking in the lines of “oh we have a ship en-route”.
My 34 yo Irish 11C roommate from Boston, did slate roofing; would mock the leadership, butter bars and ncos. When dropped he'd start off 2 hand, switch to 1, then ask if they wanted the other and finish with that. Our mortar was 700lb. Best fu ever. Cheers Spc McNeill💪🍻☘️🤣i have pics🤫
The much older movie you were thinking of was Heartbreak Ridge, which starred Clint Eastwood and was about the conflict in Grenada many years after WW2.
u also have to remember most of those men had to hunt through the great depression wich happened between ww1 and ww2 so they had tons of practice with marksmanship.
On the start of Video....Russians like to brag about their larger part in the European Theater. I ask you how far would the Russian army have gotten without American Ammo, Arms, clothing, and equipment. Same goes for all other allies. We were the Allied manufacturers, and logistics..and logistics won that war.
Ahah yeah. Imagine a situation regardless of scenario or country, where you would need to draft older guys. And then guys like Cristiano Ronaldo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and that guy you see at your gym show up. They are already halfway ready to an epic ass whooping
I think hitlers thinking for us is a classic case of hi dsight being 2020. The only argument for a partial rationalization was that America was already funding them so heavily, and they couldn't sink enough conveys without deciding to go all out. No one could have conceptualized what America would become by the end of 1945. But I'm not sure how much credence I'd give. It was just a overall bad idea but I'm curious just how much Hitler knew before
Theres a few sources that say that hitler thought of us as weak and could be ignored, but at the same time he did not want to involve us yet because he knew he would not win a war being pinched by the USA and USSR. They also never expected the might that the usa would respond with
To ask your questions about Korean Vietnam and why we didn't have so much.During desert storm and iraqi freedom they did away with the draft in nineteen seventy four
So a 9:12, you were mentioning Portugal being a colonial power but i fear the larger point was being missed. According to records, america had a population of about 133.1 million people in comparison to Portugal's 7.6 million people. That's (if my math it right) about a ratio of 17 to 1. Meaning for every 17 americans there was 1 person from portgual even adding their colonies might knock it down to maybe a 15 to 1 ratio. Despite population size (in just raw numbers mind you, not refined to just people eligible for military service) Portugal had a larger (by number of active personnel in the military) active standing military.
I’m only 104 lb and 5 ft 1 I would probably be the only one in my class and get participation awards if I did wrestling. Funny thought really, Wrestling air. However I dont know how the classes are done so if one of you UFC fans can tell me that would be great.
Wrestling and MMA have different weight classes. MMA is 105, 115, 125, 135, 145, 155, 170, 185, 205, 265 and then Unlitimited. Wrestling is 125, 143, 163, 189, 213, and 275. But if you're still in highschool they'll have lower weight classes for wrestling as well. One of the guys on my team in highschool wrestled at an 89lbs weight class.
Big fan of watching you reacting to these stories. On the last few, I noticed that your microphone was working fine but it seems like the actual video audio was a bit low. Just letting you know
"Never mess with an old man in a profession where men die young"
The only thing you can assume about a broken down old man, is he's a survivor. James Caan Way of The Gun. The shit I survived is crazy💪

God Bless the 77th "Statue Of Liberty" Infantry Division! 🇺🇲
'What was going through HItler's head?"
I believe it was a 7.65 from a Walther PPK. . . . . . Or maybe that was a little later
At the point he made that decision it was probably meth and cocaine.

Grandfather was in the 4th Marine Regiment and fought alongside them on Okinawa. He was a raider.
Good old boys knowing guns before joining the military at 30!!!!! Duh they are good ol boys

Nick is the best storyteller of our time. If I had teachers like him I might have learned more in school rather than on my own.
Fun fact of this concept ukraine has a minimum draft age of 25. So they legit have "the old bastards" army.
This story seems so oddly American, the tricks and tomfoolery these guys were pulling would make a clown look like a serious business

19:35 That was my thought as well, but it turns out they were mostly from the East Coast, which is the least rural part of the country.
which states have the most medal of honors in order
1.New York: 676.
2.Pennsylvania: 380.
3.Massachusetts: 264
There's still plenty of rural areas on the East Coast. Virginia, upstate New York, Maine...plenty of rural areas even today.
To ask your questions about Korean Vietnam and why we didn't have so much.During desert storm and iraqi freedom they did away with the draft in nineteen seventy four
