Here is an old DLR Guard seminar, from 2014 that we never had a chance to post. We have updated our DLR system since then, but a lot of the info is still pretty valid, especially the general guard principles. Thanks to the guys at Van Isle BJJ for hosting!
THIS IS FUCKING BRILLAINT! THE FIRST 10 mins is gold for beginners or anyone trying to understand jiujitsu
Thanks so much for the amazing compliment! If you want more of this style of conceptual instruction, please check out my BJJ Formula Apps, available here www.grapplearts.com/bjj-formula-apps/
I totally agree. Fucking brilliant. So now why isn't it taught this way everywhere? Let's hope this takes over.
Thank you for posting an entire seminar of info for us. Awesome instruction. Very much appreciated!
You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed it!
very technical instructions - love it when people can clearly breakdown simple things

Man This is Amazing! im sure this will help us a lot! Thanks and cheers from Cyprus..
You're very welcome! Thanks for the kind words!
7:21 Best explanation yet of Jiu Jitsu. Frames and levers. The body is a box with 4 levers. Explanation follows.
AWESOME STYLE OF TEACHING!!
7:05 Formula: "So if every movement you approach has that formula, your success rate for [everything], whether it's a submission or a pass or a sweep, will go through the roof because you're doing things at the right time and putting them in the right context." ~ Rob Biernacki
7:59 = Lever example. 8:06 BEST example of turning a frame into a lever!
4:58 Checklist: "Do I have Posture, Structure and Base? If I do great, I can advance. If I don't, then I can't do anything. I am not going to attack. I don't attack my opponent if he has all three things."
This is exactly what jiujitsu videos should be all about. It is so stupid that high level world champions make all the time videos about new tricks and techniques, what i believe is pretty naive way of learning jiujitsu, i'd like to see much more great competitors doing videos about principles and ideas and minor details about fundamental techniques, and not new tricks and positions all the time...
Thanks for the kind words! If you like this approach please check out our BJJ Formula series available here www.grapplearts.com/bjj-formula-apps/ it covers a ton of concepts and principles to help create a fundamental framework for BJJ.
8:15 "So if you build Jiu Jitsu down to Posture, Structure, Base, and Frames & Levers, everything will be in the correct context and you won't ever try to plug a move in to where it doesn't really work." ~ Rob Biernacki
Thanks so much for your generous knowledge Rob because my instructors(and I have had many of them) never explain the details and concepts that will help prevent the pass. All they do is show you some dumb sweep that never works because you instantly get your guard passed. No wonder it takes "10" years to get a black belt in Bjj. You aren't ever taught anything worth a darn. For all you instructors out there who want to hold back your knowledge stop doing it and show your students the good stuff too.
I wish more instructors would recognize how limiting that attitude is. Thanks for the kind words.
this whole thing is money
Thanks, really glad you're digging the material.
