John Deere 35D Excavator: Greasing The Entire Machine

- Опубліковано 29 бер 2023
- In this video I bring you along as I service out a new to me 2012 John Deere 35D Excavator. In this video I do the necessary task of greasing the machine. A lock n lube connector on your grease gun is fantastic for jobs like this.
-Enjoy!
You may notice that I didn't show greasing the joint between the boom and the stick. However, rest assured it got done 😉 Also on a plus note, there is only one more service video after this one where I service the radiator and hydraulics. After that we get to see me break ground for the first time 😊 It sure was a lot of fun.
Enjoy!
Tools Used In This Video:
*John Deere HD Moly Grease Case TY6333 OEM (10 Pack)* - amzn.to/3G8sPVR
*LockNLube Heavy Duty Pistol-Grip Grease Gun-* amzn.to/3ZthRkH
I was hoping for all new pins on the boom lol
I did it yesterday at my new work/job I went from cars to stuff like this. Luckily the shop has a electric grease gun. But as always to have good tools is necessary to get the job done and don't waste time with searching for it
After greasing equipment all day there’s nothing better then coming home and watching Eric grease equipment
I could tell by Eric's demeanor he was enjoying this! If anyone deserves a new toy to have some fun with ,it's him.
I'm old enough to remember cars and trucks having greased suspension components.
I don't even have a tractor and I love following your service videos.
Years ago I found rainman by watching him change blades on a lawn tractor and I don't have a lawn mower.
I bought a Milwaukee battery powered grease gun for doing my tractor, it's a game changer!
I cringed when the bucket came around. "Oooh don't hit that nice Tundra!" :-)
Looking forward to you posting your 1/4 Mile times with this!
I was waiting for major damage to the Tundra's roof. Glad to see that you have some iron to play with and it is obvious you are enjoying it.
Time for a battery powered grease gun for that machine, Eric !!!
LOL - no kidding - I was also going to comment that this is why mechanics/etc have forearm muscles the size of watermelons - LOL
Bet he gets one after this….
For that many grease points I'd say yes, for my small tractor it only takes a couple pumps of grease at each grease point, and takes maybe 10 minutes to do, so for me its not that big of a deal with a regular grease gun every 10-20 hours of use....but larger equipment like that excavator a battery powered or air powered grease gun would be great.
@@lqueryvg666 eh, arthritic/worn out joints is what happens
Greasegun ASMR noise is a thing now? I have forgotten how satisfying a noise that can be. Thanks man, you rock!
After working on my mini farm for a few years now I’ve decided I need one of these. A digger and skid steer are almost essential! Enjoy your new toy!
I am willing to bet you take better care of your equipment than 99% of owners do.
Are you going to take it out for a 'shake around town' along the the brake check route and the four wheel drive area (love that crow hopping) or even the hill of power check?
When I drove manual cars I used to lift the boot at the bottom of the gearstick and copiously grease the mechanism. It made gear shifts much smoother and the stick never got any slop in it.
Memaw will be proud of you for fixing up her excavator. She taught you so much!
Great series of videos Eric. Thanks for bringing us along
Can’t wait to see you put this thing through its paces
Can't wait to see you put it to work Eric!
You have a beautiful family there, Mr. O. Thanks for sharing!
Cool videos and a great picture of you, Vanessa and the children especially Trinity. It's amazing how much she's grown over the time of your videos.
That machine has never been shown so much love!
Just a tip on greasing, not an absolute got to, but whenever possible grease your pins with little or no pressure on them, meaning don’t lift the machine with the blade, and then grease the blade pins also, check the torque on your swing bearing bolts, “the one between the car and the cab” also, don’t forget to check the gear lube in the planetary’s below the rotation motor.😎
I spent the first half hour to 45 min of every day greasing every machine! Not every single fitting ,but all the ones that got in the dirt! Everything looked new and ran like new all the time! The boss always said,he wouldnt neglect a 300k excavator over $10 in grease.
Maintenance is cheap, downtime due to repairs, and the repair costs are a heck of a lot more expensive.
Interesting look at this monster, more maintenance then I thought!
Awesome, these are cool. And congrats on the mini excavator.
Lock N Lube, made in the USA, worth it. I've been using for a few years now, have the 90º attachment and the 3" one too, I can get grease in the most stubborn zerks. Great video Eric.
I definitely need the 90!
We used to go through grease like nobody's business back when I was in the Army. Self propelled howitzer and ammo carrier had a least a gazillion grease fittings.😂
The M1A1 Abrams tanks weren't as bad, most grease that got used for them was when doing track tension, replacing tracks, or putting tracks back on after they fell off...usually in the worst places...mud holes LOL.
@@wildbill23c my M110A2 and M548 were old school..and that makes me feel old. I served on them in Nuremberg Germany in 86-88.
Sweetie little machine to tool around the property.
love these! .... when I buy a new toy it might be a socket set... Eric buys an excavator! Good for you Mr O..... Well deserved!!!
I will most likely never own an excavator in my life, but i'll watch what you upload, i always learn something.
Eric, that was “slick”!
I know almost nothing about heavy equipment. Learned most of what I do know from this series lol.
Yet I watched this man pump grease for 10 straight minutes.
Can't wait to see this ol' girl in action Eric.
You are going to have so much fun with that thumb. Just like the grapple I have for my loader you'll find all sorts of things that just have to be picked up and moved. Enjoy your machine and be safe.
So many things you can do with this machine. I wish I had one to help with cutting wood of all things. Would make life so much easier.
Well if the auto repair business goes haywire, you've got a backup gig!! Nice work all the way around!
Can't wait to see Sunday funday friendly competition with Mrs o
Thats great it has a quick coupler for the bucket
Yeah I have three buckets for it too :)
That thing is cool, and it sounds cool
DeWalt makes a very nice grease gun I have one to grease our 938k. And JCB 535
Eric Deep Down Greasemonkey Came Out Well Done 👏
Eric love the vids watch them weekly. I have been operating excavators for 40 years. I have owned close to 60 of them And no one greases the turret on the 90 degree increments. And I have never had a center swing gear/bearing failure. Most people just grease those 2 zerks which the machine spun opposite of the blade. Do it however it suits you. But I wouldn’t sweat it. Nice little machine I have a 50 g for my personal use in my ranch.
Hi Eric i purchased the pneumatic otc continuous grease gun works pretty well just for my truck and trailer thanks
Time for a nice little detailing brush Eric, after all that pampering. You know you want to do it....
Good luck with your excavator. I have soent a bunch of hours operating them, from about the size of yours up to ones with 4 cuyd buckets. A lot of fun.
I agree with you on the lock-n-lube. It's the only way I can get grease into my Yamaha Wolverine's rear knuckles.
That LubeLocker Rocks! Power guns are great, but they don't give you as much of a workout! 😆👍
That Thumb is great for moving, sawing downed trees on your wood lot. Can also do some field tile drainage to eliminate those wet spots in the fields. 🗽🇺🇸. Cut & pile brush for the burn pile, make some new bike trails, excavators make efficient stump removers. Can even level trails that occur on a sideway slope. The list of tasks to undertake, are endless, but excludes actual "undertaking" . But you could open your own cemetery ❓
Happy machine happy mechanic !! 😀😀😀😀😀😀
That’s gonna be one well maintained machine! Throughout history tho, you haven’t done that on Mrs. O’s cars!
Mr. O wow that grease gun is a relic don't know when the last time I used one now that nothing on my car has greaseable fitting anymore. And there's no dust built up on yours impressive.
He said he pressure washed it first, which is why everything is clean LOL....equipment like that ends up with grease everywhere...the loader on my tractor does as well.
DeWalt grease gun! Works wonders
Get yourself a grading bucket you will love it
Fine job service down to a T
After owning several pieces of equipment, I started buying grease cartridges by the case, you always find yet ANOTHER fitting, just as you run out of grease. I finally bought a battery powered grease gun, as some of the fittings require you to become a contortionist. And trying to operate a manual grease gun in some of those positions is impossible.
Ok MrO it’s time to invest in the Dewalt 20v grease gun 👍🏻👍🏻
Eric need to start hinting for Father's Day you want a electric grease gun.
It’s worth noting that these grease fittings are only compatible with John Deere green grease guns
...and John Deere Green Grease.
I puckered up when you swung past the tundra the camera angle made it look like you had inches once you settled in and I saw the foot foot and a half I went oh goody no damage!!
Now this is must see TV.
Hi from Cali again.... Time to scoop up some hot fudge for your big scoop of ice cream.
If I were an excavator, I'd certainly wish to be owned by Eric O. This machine must feel like it has gotten in excavator's heaven:)
Lubrication , a past tense when it comes to automotive. That's why components don't last.
It thanks my back to the days when I use to help my dad Greece all the Points on is car back in the 60s
I work on heavy equipment and trucks all day, and I don't know what I would do without my milwaukee m18 electric grease gun.
I believe you may be channeling Marty T, the PMing master. 😊 Steve
Out in the field, it's called irrigation greasing. You grease it until the grease oozes out, and that also removes the dirt build up.
Tip on the lock and lube coupler. If it starts leaking and you think it needs rebuilt, just take it apart and separate all the jiggly bits and clean with, you guessed it (brake clean)
The smallest pebble sometimes get stuck inside from getting picked up from debris around the zerk.
I've had the lock and lube since Dewalt came out with a grease gun. LOVE THAT THING.
I'm a heavy equipment operator by trade and do go through a lot of grease. I still have the rebuild kit that came with the original lock and lube coupler inside my Dewalt case. It's been about 9 years now. I don't know if they still send a rebuild kit along with the coupler when you buy one though.
All the ones I've bought come with the kit 👍
Thanks for having me back Mr Eric. Are those run flats? 😅
My 1958 Austin A35 had 21 grease nipples, and you needed to do them often if you didn't want to replace the front suspension. It took me a few years until I realised that you do not pump ball joints until the grease comes out.
Two words Eric o Auto grease👍
I can image people driving by the shop, thinking " I didn`t know he fixed those" . So to follow more Excavators and Tractors and Balers.
Enjoying these excavator vids. Hey Buddy, I got a couple little jobs for your new toy when you get time. 🙂🙂
Now booking for friends/relatives in 2030 & beyond👌
I have a 50G, about all the same grease points. I wish there was a zerk on the back of the swing cylinder but I suppose it really doesn’t move much.
my john deer Excavator is well been used a lot, bet it bugging for a good lube job. i love my, & hope your love your.
Pneumatic grease gun should be a great investment
Thanks to Eric I have become a FluidFilm believer. I know this doesn't fit here but I just wanted to write a quick shout-out. FluidFilm is amazing.
Nice work. I'd get two grease guns with long hoses put the locking grease zero fitting on both zeros then sit in the captains chair and grease while spinning. Just cuz I'm lazy.
You da man
What batteries you have, that grease gun you will buy.
top tip: Weld the tips/teeth/claws of the bucket with carbide welding rod.
Now my hand is cramping from all that greasing.
Smart using a green grease gun. With the John Deere grease in the green grease gun and you'll always know which gun to use.
I label all my grease guns because all my equipment uses different grease 🤷🏼♀
I was hoping you would have shown the boom angle grease point on the back side of the hydraulic cylinder
I haven't ever had any luck with the lock and lube fittings they don't seem to seal for me and the grease just spluges out the lock and line nozzle instead of being injected good video as always @Eric O - After Hours
Several points on my tractor that those stupid things don't even fit into....that coupler is way too large for several grease points, and I'm sure my tractor model isn't the only one with that problem. Another thing that sounds cool on paper but in reality isn't as useful as they manufacturer pretends it to be....a standard grease zerk coupler works just fine...and I don't have a pneumatic or battery powered grease gun either, only takes maybe 10 minutes to grease the loader & tractor, and if you do it like you should, it should only take a couple pumps of grease at each grease point.
@@wildbill23c I agree I have a electric grease gun and I end up using all my manual grease guns the most they fit in more places
Nice job Eric! I suspect if you were doing this all day every day, you'd probably have a pneumatic, or electric one, haha.
I heard Whistling Diesel dad had a 35D stolen and he’s on the hunt watch out Bro!
😂 I already checked this ones serial number
As an old construction equipment mechanic coming home my wife would as me what was that fragrance. I couldn't say Chanel No. 5, so would say Multi-Lube No. 2.
More evidence that the previous owner DID NOT service this JD as he suggested. Those zerk fittings, most of them, were dry and the surfaces behind them too.
When Mrs O asked how to use it be careful we not see you anymore. Just kidding enjoy and happy digging.
I am enjoying these presentations.
I have to say this, though. Is there that much need for this machine? My thought is you have some project that renting one of those machines is out of the question. I hope you got it for a song and flip it when you're done. The very best to you and yours.
Yeah Eric maybe you should invest in a battery operate grease gun
you need one of those electric grease guns for that thing i can see why farmers buy them with all the grease fittings on their machines not too much on cars anymore.
It sure does take a lot of schluby dube!
I see a Dewalt grease gun in someone’s future!
This video will make you want to buy a power grease gun!!!
Dewalt makes a 20v Grease gun. Highly recommend when servicing equipment like this, I got one and don't want to go back
I see an cordless grease gun in your future 😊
don't forget to grease your joysticks before you fiddle with them ;)
lock n lubes ARE the bees knees!
May need to check for ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm, idler arm, just saying ; )
