Great interview! While I do not personally use a Yonex racquet, I've always had tremendous respect for their product quality and attention to detail; it is something that is engrained in the very heart of Japanese culture. Wishing Ms. Yoneyama all the best in the future.

Yonex used to be QC king, but not so much anymore...

@@cammy142I used to think so too. But I also follow some tennis channels (Tennisnerd among others) and some noted that even Yonex hasn't the be best of QC (or as I call it 'spec consistency') anymore. At least not consistently across the board like they used to.
@@WaltKurtz68 I tend to find the proof is in the pudding! Having used multiple Wilson’s, head, babolat and generally having two of each racquet, the variation when the spec should be the same has always been clear when hitting the ball. Now I’m using 3 Yonex Vcore 98 Tours, I just don’t have that problem. They’re still leagues ahead of other manufacturers

Spec consistency should be the number one priority for every racquet manufacturer.

I refuse to buy anything made in China for multiple reasons whenever possible. It is not surprising that their quality is much superior to Chinese made racquets. Love my Percept 100!
Respecting tradition and legacy could be done via reissuing some of their past models. I for one would like to see the RD Ti-70s... that 88 mid was the best midsize out of all Yonex mids released in the last 30 years IMHO.
Japanese and Germans have the focus on details.
Why can’t Head, Wilson, Babolat and Dunlop make their rackets in Austria, USA, France and Japan respectively? Yonex is a Japanese firm that manufactures in Japan and is still cost effective and high quality. China is cheap but lets see TW visit the Chinese factories and see what they do.
It was a good decision to stay in Japan.
Labor cost in Austria/States/France are quite higher than Japan. That is biggest reason not only craftmanship.

Probably a good idea. I got tennis elbow issues with not one but three (poly strung) VCORE 98s. Same strings in Phantom 93P, 97P and 107G (yes I try and buy many racquets) NO problems! So you have a point!

Have you tried the Percept line, they are less stiff.
Never. I should indeed try the Percept 97H I might like it. Thanks for the tip I totally missed this line of rackets.
