- Jon Hopkins returns with a typically immersive mix of emotional ambience that acts as a midpoint between the approaches of his last two albums Singularity and Music For Psychedelic Therapy.

"It's a neat concept, and a gorgeous album to be sure, but I miss the bops. I know it wasn’t the point of the record, but I still miss the bops."
- Mic the Snare, on Music for Psychedelic Therapy, an opinion that applies to this just as much for me.
I just started checking out his discography and immunity is by far my favorite album so far.
I know it was ranked in your best albums of 2013.
I went to one of the immersive listening experiences for this, and in that context (dark room, surround sound, fog) it was really incredible. I'm not getting as much from it on headphones, but it's still enjoyable.
Glad to know that Jon is still making music. Ill have to check this out sometime.
Thanks Wonky, i will look forward to listening to this, hopefully tomorrow!
Immunity is still a modern electronic classic for me so i always look forawrd to anything new by him, many thanks as always!👍
Subscribed just from The Orb shirt alone:).
I played this last night for the first time & really enjoyed it. He’s been munching the ayahuasca & I definitely recommend that.
Had this on hard rotation over the weekend. Very enjoyable
Listened to this on release day as the sun was setting; the pink and orange sky on my way home from work couldn’t have accompanied it better. The climax and denouement of the album felt like I was merging with the sky. Also, did you notice the purring cat at the very end of the last track?
This is quite the kind of album I was expecting, especially taking into account that Ishq was involved, but it was pleasant nonetheless. I still look forward to more experimental music from him. It feels like a sincere album, but Jon is capable of making more interesting and unique albums.
Heard it yesterday and wondered if you picked up on it.
Jon is reminding me of what Biosphere did early on.departing from the more driven and intense Microgravity and Patashnik and floating away with Substrata etc..
I think Music For Psychedelic Therapy was a brilliant effort and Ritual does have that build up like the first three Ecuador Cave tracks, but alot more going on.
Jon Hopkins has a good catalogue of strong albums now.
Microgravity for me is a modern Techno Rave Chill classic but also enjoyed some of his Ambient work, like a second rate Aphex Twin but I still enjoy it in case anyone wants to give me grief over that comment😅
He's ready to start composiing soundtracks for Hollywood blockbusters.
I’m not sure what it is about Jon Hopkins, but he seems like coffee table electronic music. Maybe it’s me being a snob because he’s popular. I want to like his stuff, but I can’t seem to get onboard.
Hi can you do like marshmallows discography or the deadmau5 circa 1998-2002 album i would like ig
Loved Music For Psychedelic Therapy, but this one didn't' hit as hard for me for some reason. The songs blend together too seamlessly maybe? By the time I feel like it's getting somewhere it's almost over.
Would be awesome to hear him go back into more grandiose / varied music, and this is coming from a big ambient fan.
This album feels like a psychedelic trip
Hey 👋 came across this and was curious 🧐. I like what you have to say for the most part.
Are you also a sound engineer? Do you make your own material as well? Possibly in same field ? Just curious as I like music critics to be qualified no offence intended.
I do make my own music, yes. you can find it at 256pi.bandcamp.com
Zedd telos plsss 😃😃😃😉😉😉
think that's gonna be in the next SSIM, literally writing the review segment on it right now lol
Check out ishq, they are amazing.
already pretty familiar with Ishq, first found out about them through the collabs with Lee Norris (Ishqmatics / Plank & Ishq). lot of good stuff there
I scrubbed through and it sounded like a nothing burger.
This album honestly sucks in context.
