The menu shouldn't be called "upgrade weapons" because you don't do this in this game but the game automatically increases its level and just let you see the new skills you can equip to the characters and stats
Omg agree. The menu title name “upgrade” is positively baffling since u don’t actually do any upgrading via that menu. Maybe they planned on adding some weapon upgrade tree and scrapped it but forgot to correct the menu name.
Just finished a second playthrough of seven remake to jump into rebirth and it's pretty jarring the difference between how each handle upgrades so differently.
@@benmorrow1701i guess its just because of the english translation. For example in german the menu is called Waffenmodifikation (english: Weapon Modification), which you actually can do in the tab
@julesmcgarry819 glad they made a video to explain weapon upgrades, but unhappy about being spoiled. Pretty self explanitory if you read the whole comment.
@@nonyabusiness4151 it's because they used a lot of assets, including that menu, from the previous game. Even the in game tutorial image shows the image from the remake upgrade system, not rebirth.
Yeah it mostly upgrades them automatically and give you more customization for combat rather than almost every weapon being the same when fully upgraded
Yeah the game heavily relies 9n players either buying their official strategy guides or googling wtf you need to know or do. At least the original game actually explained everything in the game. You just had to follow most dialogue and instructions
I played for 154 hours without this review. I figured it out by understanding that SP was the key factor is levelling up. SP is found in manuscripts, for the folio. AP is for Materia. EXP is just general levelling and all round statistics. I avoided any content on the internet until I 100%’d the game. I wouldn’t have anyone ruin this or my once in a life time experience.
If you want to speed up unlocking new weapon abilities equip auto weapon abilities materia on your team mates then only assign the ability you want to unlock to that characters L1 menu. The AI will then only use that ability and unlock the weapons special attack faster.
Yeah but how do you put material slots on weapons? I’ve seen some videos of people who have the buster sword with like 6 materia slots. Mine only has 3???
Does the "proficiency bonus" do anything for equipping that specific weapon? Like after you mastered all the abilities, aside from stats, are there proficiency reasons to use a specific weapon?
this system is really boring! it has nothing to do with upgrading. it all just happens... very disappointing. feels like they dumbed it down so damn hard.
Untrue. You need to get manuscripts. To do that you have to win in the battle arena or complete character created side quests. Then you have the folios themselves and the weapon attributes. It’s actually just transformed. It’s the same amount of labour. Folios are superior than going inside a material ball or whatever
Try quickly getting to a ball with sprint, then staying still and aiming/ positioning Red’s body towards the goal. Think of it like playing billiards/ pool. It helps to use square (if on PS) to push the ball immediately, before the others get in the way. If they’re close, opt for X instead to through it overhead into the goal.
Best way and likely the way the devs want you to play: 1) every side mission and main story. This will get you to 50 something. 2) Charley’s simulations. This should you to about 60 something. 3) battle arena. This will get you to 70 very quickly. Do in this order. You could try fighting Gilgamesh and the summon battles at 45 onwards, despite the recommended 65. It’s possible.
Glad they made a video to help new players not happy. They used max out characters and spoiled endgame loadouts when this is supposed to be for new players, who just started the game.
Oh dont mind him he think he the smartest in the room. Ff7r system is so wild that im like is this the best game I've ever played. It makes u put your skills and knowledge to the test.

Agree. It annoys me to no end instinctively knowing my weapons needed an upgrade like it did on Remake but couldn't.

I’m so glad ign made this video because the game definitely doesn’t tell you how
Becuase this passively happens when you gain SP, laziness ins SE's part.
Glad they made a video. not happy They use maxed out characters and spoiled what end game characters look like for people who just started the game
@xknightmare013 agree haha is a video for beginners with footage from endgame lol did spoiled myself a bit watching

I’m sure it’s not just me.. Cloud looks the best with the iconic Buster Sword. It’s not the same without the Buster Sword lol
TLDR, all you get to customize is the weapons skills in the materia menu
I'm not sure why there is an upgrade weapons menu when you can't really do anything.. unless later...?
@@nonyabusiness4151 it's because they used a lot of assets, including that menu, from the previous game. Even the in game tutorial image shows the image from the remake upgrade system, not rebirth.
If you press Triangle with the weapon selected in the "upgrade weapons" menu, you can see an explanation or each ability you have available.
They got rid of the ACTUAL upgrade system that allows you to regulate SP to different buffs, stats, and most importantly: added materia slots.
Ok so it doesn’t actually level them up like the 1st remake game where u actually lvl the weapon up.
Yeah it mostly upgrades them automatically and give you more customization for combat rather than almost every weapon being the same when fully upgraded

Level up the weapons dude, they get them by default that way

No
How do you change weapons when you acquire new weapons?
that hardly explains anything lol
Hardly? He explained everything 😐

@kmella7188 lol, thanks🫡
Memorise the order the balls drop, run there before they do.
How you get to lvl 70
Do every side quest and simulation
@@NeoakiraIV Beat the game last night with everything completed and ended at level 50. Would probably be close to 70 after a hard mode playthrough

Level cap 70 😢
Makes sense. Just means theyll make it 100 in part 3.
Or just put it on auto mode and don't bother with it
Auto mode feels like ff12 without gambits.
They really should introduce gambits in a future patch. Or the next installment.

this doesn't matter when they completely edition comes out it will completely change the whole thing

@ Final Fantasy VII remake complete edition Kingdom Hearts series final mixes final fantasy xv royal edition
Weapon level cap
