I don't understand why people switch phones so much, I've had my OnePlus X shortly after it came out and have stuck with it, only now is it starting to show it's age and now will probably get this phone for Christmas. Why are people so wasteful? I feel like people have gone from keeping phones for years to months, there is ZERO reason to upgrade unless you absolutely need to, but everyone mentality I feel is 'OHHHH LOOK AT THE NEW SHINY NEW THING GIMMY GIMMY'.
M416_OVERRATED -_ well, apple introduces a phone with a notch, now almost every other brand makes phones with a notch, apple deletes the headphone jack, now all the other brand remove the headphone jack. I’m not saying they are the first with everything but it seems like when apple does something other phone companys arent scared anymore to do the same.
The headphone jack can only die when headphones no longer come with companion cables. It's like VGA ports on PCs and monitors. The computer would have one because your monitor has one, the monitor has one because your computer has one. Doesn't matter HDMI and DP had been out for a decade. It took longer than it should have to fully drop VGA, it will take a long time to drop the headphone jack. Dongles are not the answer because you are not incentivising mid to low end headphone manufacturers to switch to USB type C. Unless most headphones switch you will forever be losing the battle for Apple's desired change. Personally I don't like the idea of not being able to use headphones while charging, but this is not as big a deal as it used to be. Quick charging and bigger batteries have helped a lot.
Very true. Headphone jacks are everywhere, not only made for our phones. laptops, computers, aeroplanes, cars, any use of aux cables. Everything would have to switch to type c for the jack to fully disappear.
Yeah there is no justification for removing it..Apple only cares about how to earn more hence they removed it. But oneplus i expected better but again i won't complain too much for this package
This just show how much better this phone is than its competitors... Iphone, google, wth are u guys doing? This phone come with a case for crying out loud! So legit question: Is there any real reason to get the 6t over the 6? I personally would like a notification led and a headphone jack for when my bluetooth earbuds dies.
Depends I guess. What do you value more; notification led + headphone jack, or in display fingerprint scanner + streamlined notch? The 400 mAh increase is not really a game changer I think as you can easily make it through the day with 3300 mAh (my experience on OP 5T). But I don't see any real reason for really wanting a headphone jack, as even when you need to charge your phone and want to listen to music at the same time, by charging your phone for 15 minutes you'll have more than enough juice to start listening music again, which probably in your case is even less of a problem as you could charge your phone while your Bluetooth earbuds still work.
Well I think the 6 just got pie last month i wanna say? I could be wrong though. Anyway i currently have the pixel 2xl and looking at the notch on the 6 it doesn't bother too much, but looks like I'll have to consider my choice a bit more. Thanks for the input yall.
Gideon man it s not only about listening to music while charging, i have a oneplus6 and i play games on it a lot. I usually play while charging and in games like pubg mobile you really need that sound so..
This argument ... again out of all the friends I asked if they use headphones while charging their phone ... only one person said yes, and even that got negated because he in 80% cases uses wireless charging. And @nycbk23 while phone screens are bigger than ever, nothing beats the 24'' PC monitor, that's the more enjoyable way of watching movies and youtube videos (and I use headphones all the time, so it won't wake up anyone at night) Edit: And to be clear I'm not saying there shouldn't be a 3.5mm jack, it's good to have options, but this argument is dumb to me.
Was going for this phone months back, I now go within Samsung. Yes, headphone jacks are deal-breakers for audio junkies. As for cameras, andriod users can always port google pixel's camera software so thats a plus 👌
Literally the only electronic manufacturers that is getting rid of the headphone jack are smartphone manufacturers. The jack is definitely not dead. Computers will still have one for a long time because frankly, Bluetooth audio is shit and is not ready.
That is true, but then again the size of this type of devices makes it harder to keep compared to a laptop or tablet when there is a need for space to increase battery size, screen to body ratio or to incorporate new features that need hardware. Is only a matter of time before the other devices follow.
@@stonksgains7175 Maybe a dongle that goes from USB to headphone jack, but It probably will be another 5-10 years before that happens. People in the PC world really like their old shit as long as it still works, and most don't want to replace it.

Christian Martin Segovia. Then MKBHD LEWIS ZACK and others will want a bezel less back display and then a notchless back display and then a teardrop back notch.
The headphone jack is 100% NOT DEAD. I have shopped for Bluetooth headphones before and the market place for GOOD Bluetooth headphones can be very pricey. Especially if you care about sound quality. Bluetooth is great, but there are sooo many better quality headphones that are affordable with an audio jack. Even with exercise earbuds, I prefer an audio jack only so I don't have to deal with charging headphones or loosing connectivity. So the audio jack is here to stay. At least for me
@daniel True their are very good wireless headphones, I have two pair myself. I also have wired headphones for when I want lossless audio, which is not possible with wireless. I don't want to have to buy another pair of USB headphones and don't like the dongle option personally. My favorite pair of headphones give me the best of both worlds, Bluetooth yet have a detachable cord so I can go wired for when I want lossless audio for mixing my DJ music.
@@spyder6925 yeah but with Apt-X HD the sound difference is almost indistinguishable. It supports upto 576 kbits audio streaming so unless you have superhuman hearing you won't hear any difference
Lakekid 94 then you clearly have no idea what your looking for. If you did you would realize you buy a pair of Sony 950bts for like $80 and it’s Bluetooth with incredible sound.
No, they can shove it. That is not a positive. The audiojack is tiny, and costs next to nothing. If they can't find a way to fit it in a phone this size, like everybody else has been doing for 15yrs, then they're shit engineers. It should be there purely out of convenience.
Now there's a marketing strategy in the works if I've ever thought of one! In the future they might release a version of this phone, that has headphone jack. How many people will buy it? Probably a lot.
yeah that sucks but there are currently only two companies that still use jack and that is LG and Samsung. We should expect absolute death of jack connector, it's shame but we can do nothing about it since nobody will put it into phones.
@Chokwe The notch is ugly as sin, and the headphone jack is still absolutely necessary. Besides, the adapter means you can't charge your phone or move files to your computer while wearing it. Literally less features and less convenient than their previous phones.
@Chokwe The notch is literally a hole in your screen. It's annoying. And why would I buy a phone with no jack, just to also buy an accessory that gives me the same functionality that a different, less expensive phone already has built in? It may not be strictly necessary, but it's a prerequisite for me that phone's don't force this gimmicky crap on you at the expense of functionality.
Sdsdfdu Notch > full bezel, every time. The only thing better than a notch is no notch AND no bezel, which won’t happen until cameras and sensors can be embedded in the display itself. People that argue extra screen (notch) is inferior to dead space (full bezel) make no sense, and are just generally so anti-Apple they can’t see the ridiculousness of their position.
Even if it's not for the better quality, the headphone jack should be present for the sake of convenience. If you're going to remove it, give us two type c ports. It isn't too uncommon to be using the jack while charging. Everybody comes across this situation every so often
The thing with OnePlus is that you can get at least 50% on quick charge for 30 minutes. I am not a fan that the headphone jack has left, but they did increase the battery size by a decent amount so should give you a bit longer battery. They also will have $20 headphones that will have USB C port. I get if you own quality headphones that require the jack, it sucks that it has been removed. I would prefer headphones that don't need to be charged.
headphone aux also stays in much better than usb C dongles do ( falls out easily ), it costs pennies to have a jack and aux jacks have superior sound ,lets u keep using ya expensive favourite headphones and dosnt need recharging
@@Floger77 Floger77 well, the Note 9 has an extra 300mAh battery than the 6T, has the place for the S pen, yet, they're able to find space for the jack. You don't need case for that there is special dongle that allows you to connect 3.5mm headphones and charger to type c at the same time. And it is super cheap, only couple of $ on AliExpress.
Headphone jack is really old technology... Bluetooth is taking over, and u can just leave your choice headphone with the adapter attached.. it's really not a big deal
I dont think bluetooth will ever take over.... maybe when there are actually good bluetooth earbuds... As a bluetooth enthusiast & audiophile I know there is no good bluetooth earbud on the market still. Name one bluetooth 5 earbud with Ldac + Aptx support, at least 3 hours of battery life and type c support, and they need to have a solid chipset like the qualcomm 5000 series . Then theres the problem with stuffing powerful sound into these earbuds because they have to supply battery to the drivers, which companies will either go with a tiny dynamic driver to conserve battery or large drivers that consume more power but the right sound profiles, you cant stuff as many BA drivers in them to compensate either because you have to save room for circuitry. Then you also have to talk about software & smart features like gesture controls and smart commands. There's so much tech that needs to be baked into a bluetooth earbud that we are like years away from making a good + cheap one. Its very difficult to have a well balanced bluetooth earbud. Bluetooth is never going to achieve the same quality as a wired connection which is why i will be hunting for type-c headphones or mmcx to type c wires to pair with mmcx iems & earbuds

@shiv puri I mean, then they would be remaking the op6 again. Oneplus says that it won't make a T if there's no reason. So it's either a jump from op6 to op7, which op7 probably won't have Jack either, or introduce new tech now to showcase the potential in future phones. I'm sad that the headphone jack is gone, but think how much future tech we will get now with the available space, and also hoping that bt headphones do get better too.
I think being primarily an apple user i rarely ever use the 4.5 mm jack at all anymore unless it’s for my Xbox or PlayStation. I think the removal of the headphone jack frees up space for advancements to be implemented but they never are as we’ve seen nothing yet to utilise the space freed up by the jack not being there. But back to my main point having had a 7+ for about two years and then recently last November upgrading to a XS Max id almost always go for the lighting headphones over the dongle just for convenience, recently I’ve been using the AirPods and they are my go to headphones for everything on my phone. I think the headphone jack is dead but it is only valuable for consoles when Bluetooth isn’t an option but it’s always handy to have one around :)
I don't like the trend of getting rid of the headphone jack. That being said, the headphones I use 99% of the time are bluetooth. It's just nice to pull out my bose OG sound sports when i'm in bed or something
Next generation bluetooth headphones are gonna be more robust, more stable, no going in and out, and low power consumption. So, you won't really miss the 3.5mm jacks. We'll see more of cromecasts, wireless speakers, bluetooth headsets. Even the Polycom phones will have wifi capaiblities on a shared network. 3.5mm jack would be useful only if you want to listen to music in flight mode. Who does that?
@@rhassan3212 Those that fly a lot, I assume. Jokes aside, I want the jack because reasons, and considering we have those that make even something like oldschool dumb phones there will always be someone that offers it. So Studio headphones, for watching a UA-cam Video, on your phone? Uhmmm.... Think about that for a second
Oh god bless you .i am not that good in English but you helped put my emotions in words thanks a lot

Very true. Headphone jacks are everywhere, not only made for our phones. laptops, computers, aeroplanes, cars, any use of aux cables. Everything would have to switch to type c for the jack to fully disappear.
99% of electronics with a A/V port also have a 3.5mm jack. There's a reason it's been around for a century, it's still very useful.

@@toryyn yeah, but the OP6 will get Android Pie as well, just a little later.

This argument ... again out of all the friends I asked if they use headphones while charging their phone ... only one person said yes, and even that got negated because he in 80% cases uses wireless charging. And @nycbk23 while phone screens are bigger than ever, nothing beats the 24'' PC monitor, that's the more enjoyable way of watching movies and youtube videos (and I use headphones all the time, so it won't wake up anyone at night)

agree for gamers wired headphone are real deal
USB-C will replace it soon.

You can disable the notch....
Same with you for me 5t is one plus best design
Sdsdfdu Notch > full bezel, every time.
The only thing better than a notch is no notch AND no bezel, which won’t happen until cameras and sensors can be embedded in the display itself.

Hopefully, that'll happen in the OnePlus 7. I mean, the OnePlus 6T is kind of just a test model for the 7, just like 5T was to 6.
headphone aux also stays in much better than usb C dongles do ( falls out easily ), it costs pennies to have a jack and aux jacks have superior sound ,lets u keep using ya expensive favourite headphones and dosnt need recharging

It would get really bulky and be a big chin which I'm guessing would defeat the purpose of buying a large bezel-less display phone
OnePlus listens to fans..
Oneplus removes the headphone jack..
Tell me more jokes😂😂
They did listen to fans... Majority of their fans used wireless headphones which is Bluetooth which doesn't need a Aux Jack....
i dont think thats true at all... a majority of any phone users still use analog connections
Pretty sure they did a poll and headphone jack was the vast majority, yet they removed it..

I think they are just saying if you're going to pay $1100 for a phone its unacceptable to not have it... for that price you should get it all. at least thats what i think they are saying
@@whybruv05 My LG V30 is very thin and has a headphone jack.
both are not acceptable tbh.
It's a flagship killler not a

I am still running my 3t since it came out! 6T looks awesome! Hard to buy a new phone when my 3T still works so good though!
exactly!!! im still using my 3t and have no problem with it so far. no reason to change. but surely 6t is good thou
Note 9 has spen and headphone jack yet has 4000mAH. And OnePlus says never settle.

So are u gonna talk about the new Huawei Mate 20 anytime soon?!?
Lot of hackware inside Huawei devices
The reason u see why tech reviewers doesn't review huawei is coz it's hard to get ur hands on that brand as huawei doesn't really have their market in North America region

I never saw you talk about any Sony Xperia phones!!
They are the BEST phones to use as actual phones.

Marques said that they *didn't have enough space* to fit the headphone jack due to more powerful battery
And the addition of an in display fingerprint reader
But, if they compromised on the in screen finger print scanner they could've retained the headphone jack. A back finger print scanner and a headphone jack would've been appreciated.
And for finger print scanner under the panel.
Marques chats shit. There is absolutely no legitimate reason for removing the headphone jack. If phones like the Vivo Nex can fit it in then so can this
@shiv puri I mean, then they would be remaking the op6 again.
That might even be a good thing, the more big companies press my buttons the more I'll be likely to support someone else that has what I want, and business should spread around as much as possible because 2 or 3-way monopoly isn't often a good thing for the consumer.
Oneplus 7 glow logo 😍
I'm sticking with the LG G7 as long as they keep the headphone jack and quad DAC
poco: *sees warning im a flagship killer*
also poco : hold my jack
Poco suck tbh I used the F1 and it starts to gain lag over time and u can clearly see a reduction in it's performance plus doesn't get alot of updates. Although pretty decent for it's price
well just reformat your device , all android gets a performance reduction and the only way to restore it again is to reformart , i repeat all androids lags when they get old
It totally sucks like how the entire UI works on poco, I know since I've shifted from Poco to Op7pro so I can judge the major difference to both brand lol
OnePlus is so expensive now, its no longer a Flagship Killer... but with Google smoking what Apple is smoking, it is a Pixel Killer.
Pretty sure it still is, the top 3 flagships are over a thousand dollars for a phone now. This is 569 I believe for the base model and is one of the fastest devices in the world.
@@cameroncarlson1152 Not when there are solid alternatives available from Asus, Huawei, and Xiaomi. Xiaomi has numerous phones with an 845 that are significantly cheaper than the 6T
@Kwistenbiebel200 That's similar to how I feel. Xiaomi is killing it, even their $200ish phones rocking Snapdragon 636 and 660's run insanely smooth, with killer battery and no notch. I just can't spend ~$600 on a 6T. Doesn't offer enough for the money. If it was $400 or $450 (very feasible since the 845 has been out for a very long time), then ok now I'll consider it
@Kwistenbiebel200 Yeah man. As long as your skin is optimized, and knock on wood - the Xiaomi phones I've used have been (A2, Max 3), the 636 and 660 day to day don't feel any different than my Note 9 did, or my Mix 2s for real. I don't game so theres that, but launching apps and overall performance has been really impressive. All with no notch, and an LED notification light
