@1 Trick Gaming - I would suggest stringing together 3-4 fantastic months and then send some feelers out to MB, BMW, Audi, Porsche with a fantastic looking resume. Sell there for a year and then try to get a used car manager role or something similar.

I love the honestly, especially taking about these young dealership owners, straight to the point they were given them and came from a lot of family funding. People see 18yr olds in exotics and say I wonder how they did that, well 99% of the time someone helped them exponentially get there, finally someone who admits where the funding comes from and not some kid saying he can afford a $500k exotic at 18, love the videos keep em going

I’ve been in the car business for almost 7 years now, 3 of them at the luxury dealer (BMW, Audi, Porsche). I’ve been a technician for that time, but have just moved up to service writer, and eventually would like to move as far up the ladder as I can. Everything you are saying rings true in my ears, Ed. I’m just glad to hear some reassurance that it is possible, and it wasn’t just me going crazy telling myself that!

As Ed mentioned, there are so many auxiliary jobs in the industry NOT related to selling cars. For example, the entire staff of Xtreme Xperience is in the exotic car industry and get to drive, play with, work on, photograph, etc our cars. My marketing team members are all enthusiasts who get to play with supercars, but they are professional marketers, photographers, videographers, have PR skills, or content skills, or advertising skills. My point is, you can often apply your current skill set to a segment of the automotive industry. Most people imagine all the "driving" you'll do, but 90% of jobs in the automotive world never get to touch cars.

Well said. I've worked in MotoGP racing for the last several years and currently have a startup in the racing industry. I frequently get people reaching out about jobs telling me how much they know about the sport. The reality is, TONS of people know the sport (or are magazine racers as you say), but the first and foremost thing I tell people is: everything is a business. When you reach out to someone about a dream job, always put the growth of the particular business as top priority. Without business growth and profit, no one is going to be in the exotic industry or stay in racing for very long.

Ed, truth that!! I was a mechanic at a major Minnesota twin cities dealership for 11 years and a building maintanance man for the same dealership owner the last 5 years of my employment . I've seen a lot, done a lot! And none of its easy! People make their own way, some require help and guidance, some are successful under the "Good ol boy's club!". Trust me when I say 'Some are let in the door just to be made an example of!'

Stuck on a VinWiki video binge while it's slow at my dealership 😂 😂 let me say there's more than truth to all Ed is saying. I had to work at many used car lots making no money with barely anyone coming in to just a Chevy dealership at 22. I started out at 19 so I guess I'm doing alright at 4-9 new cars a month with five other sales persons on staff at once. I'm at least making more money at Chevy than all the used lots. I want to be able to work at a Lamborghini dealership and hopefully get to move up to this Mercedes dealership this summer.

Its nearly impossible to find a job that lets you have a personal life and support yourself comfortably. So you need to choose burning yourself out working or living on less and being happy.

Declan P so many people expect thing's to be handed to them. When I was in high school I had myself a truck, a snowmobile, and a dual sport Dirt bike. I had friends in school that used to basically cry to parents to buy them a snowmobile or a Dirt bike. The thing is I got the things I wanted because I was willing to work for them. I used too walk around door to door shoveling roofs and driveways and mowing lawns in the summer till I was old enough for a real job.

Working in the luxury/exotic car market is an eye opening experience. I loved & hated it but I learned so much while I was involved!

To me Ed is like the white Morgan Freeman. Ed can tell any story and its just great because of how he tells the stories and his tones of voice.

Loved this video. I've always wanted to be a exterior car designer, literally since I was 2, 21 yrs later, it's still a dream I'm working towards. Unfortunately, schools that offer transportation design programs are insanely expensive, they're all over 100k just for the tuition alone, and there's not alot of financial aid/scholarships for them. I was pretty discouraged because I couldn't justify spending that much money for a education, especially at my age. Not only are these schools, like the Art Center expensive, they also have very low reviews, and most of the people I've talked to have said they've regretted going to schools like that. I felt as though going to a design school like that was the only way I would be able to get my foot in the door and like I said, I couldn't justify the cost. I've since decided to get a degree in industrial design as it seems I could still apply that to automotive design, it's just not as direct.

A few weeks back I was thinking how this is a great channel and I don't know why you don't habe more subs, but then I realized I wasn't subbed 🙄 oops! I've been watching consistently since the video about your wife buying a ferrari, about 8 months ago.
I'm guessing I'm not alone in this oversight because this is really a great channel and definitely deserves more subs! I've since remedied this and have subbed.
