Honestly, the best woodcase pencil i9n the world is the one that an individual enjoys using, and that gives that individual results they like. I have Derwen, Faber-Castel 9000, Tombow, and half a dozen other name brand pencils. Ninety=eight percent of the time I use a cheap set of pencils from China. China makes excellent pencils. Even their cheap, made for school kids pencils are often better than many professional level pencils. There's still a pencil culture in China, and they have standards, even for their dirt cheap pencils. The best 2B pencil I've ever used is a pencil high school and uni students in China use to do exams. It cost less than a nickel. I've always felt the same way you do about the Tombow Mono Zero eraser, but I've pretty much replaced it in my office with an electric eraser. The electric eraser took some practice, but once I got the hang of it I found I could do everything with it that I could do with the Tombow, and I could do these things better and faster. But it really does take some practice to gain precise control.
I just got a tombow mono eraser, and holy moly, game changer! In terms of my favorite graphite pencil, mine is prismacolor, as I find them very easy to blend. I also use General's charcoal sticks and charcoal pencils.
Derwent was the only major brand of the nearly 400 pencils I tested in 2015 that gave scratches when applied to paper. Derwent also had some of the highest incidences of grade discontinuity and grade violation (e.g., 4B pencil *darker* than a 5B or 6B). I also began my art journey with Derwent Graphic but after about 6 months found many sets that were better, without scratchiness and without grade violations. The best I found, for my work, is the Faber-Castell Castell 9000 series. I've never had any of the typical pencil problems with F-C (no broken leads, no misaligned leads, no scratchiness, etc.). To get really black I go with Wolff's Carbon 2B to 6B.
LYRA makes THE best kneadable eraser and tha's because it can hold fine shapes better, for erasing or adding fine highlights. (holds better than Faber Castell). The best papers for graphite, are the Arches Hot pressed (Black cover with pink square board) and the Hahnemuhle Dessin 150gsm. Both are also great for color pencils, nothing comes close to them, for graphite drawings. I'd also add a KUM Masterpiece, it provides longer and stronger tips, compared to the Longpoint Automatic, they are both my 2 top choices.
Which box set of Faber castle do you use btw like art one or the design set ??? Like there is no such difference but yeah they have some changes in grades.....
Thanks for the sharing of information. Would you recommend 70 weight paper as well. I noticed you use the 100 roll. What's the difference in your opinion. Thomas from Kansas City
The scratch thing happens with h grade pencil if we press too hard .. I sometimes feel it will 2h faber castell too .. its becz of the grade.. but i too love these pencils
It used to happen to me even with soft derwent pencils and not pressing hard at all! It literally felt like there was a tiny rock inside the led 🥲 so before trying faber castell i thought it was normal and i just had to be careful lol
Nice video, really helpful! I wonder if perhaps you learned from Carly Renèe, maybe took her hyper realistic "big cats" course? I just noticed you use more or less the same supplies, same techniques, and of course charcoal as the medium of choice. Anyway, thanks for the video, great editing too btw!
Should i do an updated version?! 👀
Yeah 👌🙌
Yes
For sure , i really need that because I'm looking for art supplies so do it!!
Yes!

I love my Tombow eraser, too! I slice off the tip at a slant with an X-acto knife for making really fine lines.
thank you for existing princess😃🤗💘
