How does this only have 40k views, it's the best lesson of this song on youtube
Those darn youtube algorithms man
This was amazingly helpful, and showing clearly how the "walks" and "fills" worked was great!
I just started playing guitar! This is my husband's favorite song, and I can not be any happier, to see you showing how to play this song! I really like the tips to carry the songs you play, awesome! Keep up the good work! Looking forward to seeing more tutorials from you! Any chance you can add the dots showing the chords? Sometimes you can not see which strings you are holding down, and even if you mention the name of the strings, some of us newbies don't know the name of the strings yet, thank you! You're awesome!
How was the progress?
Where did this guy go???? Love his tutorials!! Need more!
Hey bro I have a you tube guitar page I started like 2 years ago, I come to your page before I do a new video to make sure I am playing everything or if I'm a bit rusty, I wanna thank you for your time and effort, and I hope you take pride knowing that other teachers come to your page and use it for knowledge
Wow! Thanks a lot for the comment. We try our best and it's nice to know that others come to these videos for support and accuracy. Stay safe and keep jamming!
Laid back Fun with a great lesson guys...
Less formal, love it !
You're great. When ever I am sad ,I just watch one of your great videos and smile. You can have my bud light. ❤🧘♀️🕊❤❤🐝🍄🐝❤✌🛸🎸
This has been a tremendous help! Thanks mates. I'd love if you had an associated video that showed you just playing the song through, but otherwise so great.
Excellent. Thank you!
+The Mummeys Thanks for watching!
Only suggestion to video would be to explain the strum pattern. I started very recently and when watching videos that explain the strum pattern as well as the chords makes it much easier to follow. That being said, great video and great song! you broke it down to basics and was fun to learn.
Thank you so much for your detailed reply, much appreciated! You guys are totally awesome!
I will definitely check out your other tutorials. Keep up the good work!
Great lesson, sounds perfect.
fantastic lesson my friend, you let the fun run
Can you play and sing the complete song without interruptions at the end, so we can see when to change the chords? Thank you!
well done
Best lesson on this song.
perfect teaching temp. all fun and joy. hit it. good show, brother. keep going.
Hamms! Getting it in!
Hamms! The beer of choice up at the Michigan Tech
yeah man awesome video.
Thanks for the great song choice and tutorial. Can you teach us how to mute and add percussive strums in our guitar playing?
fragman123xx Check out our Save Tonight lesson where we talk about strumming techniques.
I'm a subscriber who also enjoys to drink beer, play guitar, and have fun. It's fun when you get to go to party where everyone is into it and singing along. Thanks
+Joel Standeven I know right!? That's the best when that happens. Glad you're subscribed, if you've got any songs in mind, leave 'em here. Later man!
Awesome lesson thanks man
Waiting on my very first guitar (Rogue RA 090) from Guitar Center and can't wait to start learning. Love your videos. Subbed.
Entertaining and informative! Great job
Thanks for the lesson!
This was great! Thanks for the lesson, and smiles!
+Red Cory thank you, and we're glad you liked it. Once the music gets going it hard not to smile.
Thank you for this lesson!
Dude awesome!!! Good work!!!
I can play it and I can sing it, but I still can’t play and sing it at the same time
i cant do both either but i hear the trick is to keep doing it till you dont need to think about it trying to think of the words ans well and the next cord its not going to work so we need to get to the point were we dont need to think about either then it should be easy (yeah right)
Very nicely played and taught. Can you please make a lesson on Chicken Fried by Zac Brown Band?
very good i like your style and not bad singing eather your one of the few instructors that does this i had it on my 2nd try thanxi did it on a strat and evh amp sounds great im gonna pullout my ovation out of moth balls and give it a crack
Hahaha, maybe some new strings too eh!? Thanks for the comment, keep on rockin'
Thank you Great Job
big help buddy. thank you.
You don’t have enough recognition on this so I’ll point it out… HAMMS BEER
Me seeing them play it: “oh that’s not hard” vs me when they explain it: “oh that’s fucking hard”
great video really helpful
Also if you can tell us your strumming patterns, like down, down, up, down, up, down, up, etc., etc.
What are your other channels? Thanks for the lessons!
The camera man's version of "I'm so sad" sounds like a vending machine took his money and he didn't get his favorite snack.
What about Traveling Wilburys End of line? Specifically the little fill ins? Thoughts?
Tip for singing and playing: This song wracked my mind trying to match the playing with the lyrics, until I solved a couple curveballs this song throws. First, the "If I had a..." doesn't land on the 1st downbeat, nor is it in the bass line lead up - it lands on the =second= downbeat of the first bar. And second, "If I..." and "had a..." count as half beats during the verse - every other syllable is it's own half beat, but "had a" is split the second time around - "had..." is a whole beat, and "a mill..." gets squashed together. Happens in the chorus, too - it feels odd getting the rhythm right. I'll try and illustrate:
(0, 2, 3)ll G, (and)l "If I..." (and)l D " *had a* ..." (and)l "mill...ion"ll E/G "Dol...lars..."l "If I..." (and)l " *ha....d* "l " *a mill* ...ion..."ll G "dol...lars..."
Wow! You're hired!
Huh?? Come on Chip are you like Elvis or something ??
no wondering i can't get it when I try to sing. I can play the thing; but combining it with the singing? I'm struggling. I'm reading this post like it's hieroglyphics from Egypt. Thanks
+Joel Standeven we will try to touch base with you on this in some upcoming lessons. The person who wrote the long comment about how to play and sing obviously learns better by reading how to do things. Although this is effective for some, others might struggle because everybody learns differently. Personally, I'm a visual learner. I need to see it being done, and it sounds like you're probably the same way. Singing and playing is tough, but it is not impossible. Whenever I've had to teach people about how to play and sing, the difficulty arises in the fact that as soon as you try to sing, it can feel like your brain can't decide what to do, so you just stop. It's like information overload or something "Windows Explorer encountered an error while sending a command to the program and needs to close..." If you've never done it before, your brain won't know what to do with all the info. I feel your pain but thankfully neurological plasticity is your friend. Best advice here is to slow it down, almost to a crawl if you have to. Take note of where the syllables in the lyrics are matching your downward motion when strumming. Eventually you'll notice a theme and there will be symmetry with each line you're singing. And another thing, don't move forward from the areas you're having trouble with without getting them down first. Hope that helps, like I said though, we'll touch on this in some upcoming videos and I'll really break it down for ya. Later!
U.P. North Guitar long time ago I was told to get the song down to muscle memory, then hum the tune , then after a while of doing that, start to add the vocals. Works for me, but everyone is wired differently. Good luck.
I would like to learn the song "Let It Be" By The Beattles, thank you!
Can anyone help me out somehow with the strumming on this? I just don't get it. The chords are easy of course but I just can't replicate some of the subtleties and I don't really know what to do
Still a problem XD
I am really lost on the walk down from go to g and e. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wonder what the tuning it is in. Standard most likely
Can you do tonic mountain!!!!!!!!!!
that helped
How about "Let It Be"
Are you using that black thing on the first fret? What is the name of it?
It's called a capo, and it's on the 2nd fret for this song. Glad to hear you just picked up the guitar. In response to some of your other questions, go and check out our "Guitar Talk 1" video. We talk about a lot of questions that we've had from our viewers, especially strumming patterns. It is the #1 question we receive about playing guitar because it is a hard concept, not only to learn, but also to teach without sounding too complicated. As far as the "down down up up..." method of learning goes, I would try not to focus too much on that. The reason being that it over complicates things, I never learned to strum that way because I think it's an inefficient way of learning. For example, if I were to give you the strum pattern of this song it would look something like this: "D U DD U D UUD U DD UU D DU DUU D..." (not the actual strum pattern btw) So, obviously this can go on and on for a while, and it turns into a memorization game instead of enjoying the learning process. The best advice I can give you with learning all of these techniques is simple, slow things down. You'll never be able to learn how to play songs if you're constantly trying to match the tempo of the song at hand, simply because you haven't taught your hand how to move that way yet. But, don't be discouraged, a little bit goes a long way. Over time, you will see progress as it snowballs from learning to knowing to understanding how and what you're playing. I hope this helps! Thanks again for watching our channel, hope you're subscribed!
Wow...Same chords as 'Wagon Wheels' for the most part.
Hamms.............from the land of Sky Blue Water. 😅😅😅
For some reason, this is really messing with me. I feel like I can't get this right: What's the strumming pattern here?
Every time I watch it, I feel like I see something different and it's killing me.
Yeah, watching it again today I'm getting a different feel.
Is it just DD then alternating DUDU, or what?
Last night I was thinking it was a DU UDU
Never mind, I just listened to a karaoke version of the song one night and now I feel like I have the strumming rhythm down.
Thanks for the tutorial man! Your channel is rad!
BulletCatcher123 what is it
@@WaddupMatty wait but what is it lmao
I have been trying to figure out how to play this for months. At least 3 times a week, I watch this video and I still can't figure out the rhythm of the strums. It NEVER sounds right when i play it. Not solo, not with this video as a guide, not with an instrumental version of the original. I don't get what's wrong with me. I can't wrap my head around this, and I'm so immensely disappointed in myself.
I am losing my mind trying to get this right and I fail every time. I can't learn a song in 6 months. I feel genuinely hopeless.
Where's the bass?
I’m sorry but tell me I’m not the only one who can’t pick up the strumming without him breaking it down
So is your strumming like this: D D U U D U ?
stick with it in some ways your a better teacher than curt mitchall i think
Can’t trust a dude drinkin hams
