I think many a runway show has items that are not practical for every day wear. This is not my fave collection but those first looks are really cute. Not ideal for my size 8 body though😂. Also it is worth noting that Chanel came before Zara and H&M. I was out shopping last weekend and could not believe how all the shops copy Chanel jackets, skirts, etc. Chanel is the standard. To understand the 90’s Chanel vibe i suggest you watch the runway shows. They are a blast to watch. My fave year is SS 1991! I own several looks already
Okay, there were maybe three looks I actually remembered but the general vibe of so much of that collection, the collars, hemlines, necklines, tummy-baring, etc., that was definitely all in the shops back then. It was super interesting viewing this collection as a whole, in one sitting, almost thirty years later. My biggest takeaway is wow my tastes really were enduringly shaped by the images I consumed during my young adulthood. Crazy to think about!
Definitely less logos and you’re right; fit was crazy and the “panty skirt” was completely impractical. The black piping in the few looks was very chic, but not sure about all the gloves. TFS! 💙
Love love love this. Will you consider posting a classic Coco Chanel fashion show in Paris in the 1950's 1960's 1970's ? I saw a documentary on Betsy Bloomingdale, she talks about the small intimate shows that all the fashion houses hosted. They'd serve afternoon tea and champagne:)
Hi Maddie please continue with this kind of content. But also do a bit more research to explain what the collection is about and the inspiration behind. As I remember the collection is not about Barbie, just like the cruise24 isn’t either. Barbie is just a nickname. I think this collection is about empowering women to be who they want, and they can be sexy too. The black plastic bags are goodie bags that the models would throw to the audience. The last look they are honoring Coco Chanel with white pants and black top. The guys are supposed to be coco’s boyfriend.

So true! Chanel came first they just replicated the design!

Yes there is so much in here!!
This collection is from the year I graduated high school! I certainly didn't have Chanel money back then but I remember this collection!

Maybe! That’s a bit tricky since they weren’t documented in the same way
