I'm gonna need some help here: The song "Cancion del Marachi" shows as being written by the band, Los Lobos. However... this same song is being performed/ covered by "Chingon" and from the way he presented it, it almost sounded as if he was the writer of "Cancion del Marachi". Also, and later in the movie "Desperado", Banderas 'The Mariachi' is seen giving a minor guitar lesson to a young boy in the streets and I want to say that the name of that song is called "Alacran y Pistolero"... and if I'm not mistaken that song / ballad was written by "Chingon". Which, of course, begs the question... what am I missing here about the song writers of both "Cancion del Mariachi" and "Alacran y Pistolero"??
In the opening bar-scene in "Desparado" (that we seen in the backdrop here)... is it Los Lobos performing the song in the bar or is it Chigon. Sorry if I'm reading into it too much.
As I understand it the lyrics are by Los Lobos and they may have had the bass line as a more traditional ballad (as Los Lobos is a more traditional latin rock band). Robert Rodriguez, who normally scores his films, essentially produced the track so it has a more fusion Mariachi/Stevie Ray Vaughn feel. Which is great. Similar to how "Malagueña Salerosa" is a traditional mariachi ballad but he and the rest of Chingon essentially remixed it so it's more of a rock song for the Kill Bill soundtrack.
