  • The Murchison Meteorite fragment on display at the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks and Minerals is one of the most important chondrites ever found. Researchers dated it to about 7 billion years old, and discovered the presence of at least 15 amino acids. Watch this short discussion of the museum's meteorite exhibit and learn about the different types of meteorites, Oregon's meteorite heritage, and more.

I am pretty sure I have found a meteorite. The stones fusion crust is a blue/black. Very heavy for size. especially looks like Murchison. Going to the lab to get tested tomorrow. Some have oriented shape, some have regmaglypts, flow lines and rollover lip. They were eroding in the elements. Pretty volatile/unstable. Hope they're not going to give me cancer! Here's to Inshallah. Peace & Love meteorite hunters!
