I cut the old one in half as I was getting microphonic feedback from a Seymour Duncan JB Jr. Which is not to be expected. I thought it might be the bridge vibrating. So I cut it in half and attached the pickup to a bit of an old backplate from a Strat trem cavity. That worked. But looked sh1t. So I bought the Wilkinson short bridge and replaced the old one. I just left the backplate there as I don't mind how it looks - but at some point I changed the JB Jr to this Duncan Rails humbucker.
My other Tele is a Bullet with Wilkinson Premium 50s bridge pickup & humbucker size p90 on the neck, jin ho tuners, brass saddles, graphtec nut and string trees,it was the 1st creation of mine before I got my Fender,Gibson and Burny..Sometimes i take the neck pickup off and put a different pickguard on it& turn it into an Esquire..Don't think I'd ever sell it either...The white tele is fitted with all Fender hardware and pickups...Excellent guitars...
It’s funny, but when you’re playing it the neck pickup almost feels “squishy” - which is a strange way to describe and electric guitar pickup! But it really does and sounds brilliant. I’m not 100% sure which Seymour Duncan it is - maybe and Alnico Pro II?
Obviously over UA-cam it's difficult but it's one of the clearest tele necks I think I've heard. They tend to be inherently dark no matter. It's almost jazzmaster clear.
Well……(long story coming up 😆), I started getting microphonic feedback for no reason at all when I had a JB Junior in there. Didn’t make any sense as it just started out of nowhere. Took it to a guitar tech who said “you’re standing too close to your amp”. I kept calm and never used his services again. Anyways, after some research I figured it could be the bridge plate vibrating, so I put some melted wax under it. Didn’t work. Then, after a couple of beers, I took the executive decision to hacksaw the bridge plate in half and seat the pickup in a bit of an old black plate from a Strat. It worked!!! But looked like sh1t. So I got that Wilkinson short bridge to replace the hacked up one. I quite liked the amateur look of the way I had mounted the pickup so it’s been like that ever since. Even after changing it out to the SD Rail. One of my better Lager Influenced Moves 🍺👍
Great tele (with a story) Dunsy and great playing(as usual). I too have a tele I'll never sell, the one on my channel thumbnail. It's a diy tele kit my wife and daughters bought me for my 59th birthday last year. I've changed the bridge to a six saddle, for better intonation, and put Grover tuners on, but everything else is stock and it plays great. Used Rubio Monocoat for the finish which really brought the grain out.😊
Nice one, Sir - I think if you put a lot of work into a guitar then it just really becomes yours. It's perfect for what you need it for. To be honest, even if I wasn't allowed to sell this one (due to the way that I got it) I don't think I would - with these pickups and the work done, it's works for every sound I need.
A guitar collection without a Tele is like a tool box with no screwdriver
100%, sir. I can pretty much get any sound from clean to overdrive on this old guitar by just using the pickups, no pedals. A freebie too!
@@DunsysGuitarWorld I have a Squier CV and a partscaster...now there's a video idea, why not do a build?
Love it!
Cheers Jamie!
👍🏻👍🏻
Having played that tele i can agree that it sounds and plays fantastically well 😃👍
You wear it better than me!
Another four or five stickers and it'll be like Syd Barrett's melonex Esquire!.
Sounds great like most Japanese made guitars.
What about your fridge of £50? Would you sell it then?
A what ?.......lol......love Japanese Fender over the home county shhhui
Never to be sold - as instructed, lol!
Dunsy…you have such a nice touch and phrasing…you remind me of a session player😎
I must admit to having been involved in a few sessions over the years, but they were in the pub kicking off around midday 🍺😆👌
Is there a reason for the half bridge with normal tele pickup?

That is a nice sounding Tele. Great playing too.
It's ended up being able to do all the sounds - I'm well pleased. Especially at the price point, lol!
What a fantastic video have a wonderful weekend dunsy also today is my friends birthday ❤😊
Thank you buddy, hope you had a fantastic weekend!
Thats a mighty fine sounding geetar !
It honestly does everything I need sounds wise - from clean to high gain an no pedal required, hurrah!
My never sell guitar is also a heavily modded Squier Arctic White Telecaster......
I think sometimes the guitar that you do the most work to, to get it to your own style, is the one that means the most.
LoL mine is a Squier Master Series Chambered Telecaster they made in the early 2000s with set neck and Gibson scale length and specs.

It's a nice clear neck pick-up too Dunsy.

Hi Dunsy - interested in the bridge mod - was that for the look, sound, feel (or something else)? 🤔

That's a great-sounding tele 👍🏼. I gave mine to my brother for his 50th. I need one back in my life. thanks for a great vid!
No way? Man, that's a cool present. And you definitely need to get yourself a replacement!
What a cool looking guitar. I love black Telecasters. Excellent jam over that track too. Fine use of the Hendrix chord!
Cheers Andy - yeah, it’s my Swiss Army Knife Tele!
