They are used to humans but at first can be very fearful of our staff, understandably. We do not interact with them out of respect for their wild nature, but we do work with them to get them to take part in their own healthcare, such as drawing blood for test, etc.
I'm a bit confused. I have been following along and I thought there were only 4 bears at the new sanctuary (Armstrong, Buzz, Apollo and QQ) ...is QQ still at the new Bach Ma Bear Rescue Centre sanctuary?
Sadly, the bears can’t be released into the wild. Bears on bile farms are traumatised both physically and mentally by their captivity. Often bears have been held captive for their whole lives and haven't learned the skills to survive in the wild. There is also the issue of human / bear conflict which is a particular risk if a bear has relied on humans for food for their whole life. This is why we rescue the bears and apply our decades of expertise to rehabilitate them and give them the support and care they need in a safe environment that reflects their natural habitat as best as we can.💚 Please join us in giving love and care to these traumatised bears: animalsasia.org/give

They usually come from Bear Bile Farms, QQ was a pet believe it or not.
Our sanctuary is in Vietnam where we rescue the bears 🙂
