I was pretty upset in previous elections when my candidate didn’t win. It’s never fun to lose one of these things. But the next day the sun still came up and I went to work. I carried on like any normal person would do. I didn’t curse the system that lawfully elected someone I didn’t like nor did I take to the streets to riot and sow destruction. The left in this country has shown it’s true colors and frankly it’s repulsive. I was a swing state Independent and now I’m a registered Republican. She told me not to talk about politics to her, which I could understand, so I agreed. I was quite happy with how the election turned out, and knew that there were those who disagreed with me.
So I made my rounds, talking to others about the election (studiously avoiding talking to her), and, from the other side of the room, she came to where I was, and told me to stop, because I was "making everyone uncomfortable". There was no evidence that anyone other than her was uncomfortable, which I told her, causing her to stomp off somewhere else.
I was just about to leave, when I heard her telling a friend that "The stock market was crashing on election night". I was nearby, so I told her that the FUTURES exchange, which is NOT the stock market (The Futures is where you can bet on whether the stock market will go up or down the next day) was the one that was down, because the stock market was closed at the time.
Well.....she flew into a rage. She started screaming at me that "YOU SAID YOU WOULDN'T TALK POLITICS!" I replied that I was talking ECONOMICS, and hadn't said a word about politics. She then started sputtering and flailing her arms at me, as if to ward me off ("STAY AWAY FROM ME!"), while shouting "STOP FORCING YOUR BELIEFS ON ME!", and that she didn't want to hear me talk about politics again.
I was sick of this verbal onslaught, and actually rather mad that she was making like I was going to hurt her (at this point, she was completely gone off the deep end), so I did something I don't normally do; I shouted back. I told her (and everyone else in the social hall heard me) that if she didn't want to hear me talk, that she could stuff cotton balls in her ears. Then I went home. The last I saw before I went out the church door, she was sobbing on a bench.
