  • In this #webinar, Prof Joao Passos, Professor and Director of the Cell and Molecular Ageing Laboratory at Mayo Clinic discussed the link between mitochondria and cellular senescence. Prof Passos's laboratory has made several important contributions to the understanding of the mechanisms driving cellular senescence in ageing and age-related diseases, with a particular emphasis on telomeres and mitochondria.

    Wow, linking inflammation proteins associated with senescence with free mitochondrial DNA, is huge.
    I wonder if fasting, or fasting mimicking diets, trigger mitophagy of damaged mitochondria?
    Would it be possible to check the blood for mitochondrial DNA before and after a fast?
    Anyhow, testing for free mitochondrial DNA in blood should be a faster and more direct link to measuring the efficacy of aging treatments, if the link proves out.

    Great lecture. i would like to know what happens to dysfunctional mitochnodrias that have their BAX-Bak pores inhibited.

    Very beautiful young lady
