    I visited the station a few times in the 1960’s,including the S&D last day special. The S&D and Bath Green Park held a special place in railway enthusiasts hearts.

    Steve I remember all this so well when we lived at Keynsham. The two engine sheds (82F) and the last Pines Express hauled by 92220 in 1962. It was always good to see the Midland engines in wonderful condition when they came back from Derby. Happy days! David B now exiled in Kenilworth.

    Love your enthusiasm. I used to trainspot on GP Station platform.I would have been around 10-12 years old. I loved those old steam locomotives and used to often chat with the drivers as they were steaming up. They'd often let me on to the footplate too. Happy days. I was heartbroken when the Station closed.

    Lovely locale and history one of my favourite parts of the world. Thanks for sharing 👍😊
    The S&D, possibly the MSWJR - like several others - proves that Pareto's 80/20 theory was force fitted, by a useless, overpaid man (one of several from ICI who leeched from the railways and tax payers) who served several other masters and not BR nor the general public. Yes the railways needed reorganisation but to attend a busy station at its quietest time, once, then state that it needed closing is not scientific research nor good management practice! It's corrupt in fact. It's akin to modern planning departments and permissions they give to wealthy builders, and likewise planning/building inspectors who claim that they visit site, when they barely have even looked at such via Google maps - corrupt, serving other masters and not the tax paying public.
    The S&D, the MSWJR and certain aspects of the Southern would have been well used routes even today, if continuous improvement was applied so as to meet modern needs.

    I've never lived in Bath but went to school just round the corner from Green Park station and seem to know a lot more about it than Steve. I do wish people would get all their 'facts' right before they take to UA-cam!!

    Steve Keynsham was always an exciting station. The Frys train as it was known used to cross the road after accessing their line from the main line. David

    Steve many memories of the shed(s) at 82F. Interesting that the Midland locos based there had to go all the way to Derby for overhaul. David

    Weren't the railways nationalised in 1948?

    • @stevesindustrialadventures799
      @stevesindustrialadventures799  3 роки тому

      Hi thanks for watching!
      This station was renamed in 1951Becuse The railways where Nationalised and I think the railways where Nationalised in 1947...
      The Transport Act of 1947 nationalized the railways, which were taken over by the British Transport Commission (BTC) in 1948 and given the name British Railways.
      Hope That helps

      @@christophernewman5027 also how amazing but in away sad, as it was the last train. I would have love to have see it in it hayday! I have only seen steam in its birthday suit . I bet in its day it was more of a industry to be excited about!. As a small boy I wanted to be a train driver untill I found out they where not Steam engines! But did apply for a network rail job witch I did not get. My career has followed different paths witch I have a huge interest in and dose exsite me! So win win! Cheers
