Outlook Can not Connect to GMail | Keeps asking for Password

- Now a days when you try to setup the outlook for GMail, it keeps asking you to provide your credentials and wont accept your password.
Along with that you might receive following Errors :
1) Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: Please log in via your web browser:
support.google.com/mail/accoun... (Failure)
2) Log onto incoming mail server (IMAP): The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or internet service provider (ISP).
3) Send test e-mail message: Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings.
The reason behind this issue is that, if the basic Authentication has not been enabled for your Gmail account it throws the above error messages. In order to increase the security measures to block the access for your Gmail accounts after 15th July, 2014, google has taken these steps when you try to sync Gmail account with apps and other email clients on any devices.
To resolved this issue, enable "Basic Authentication" for your Gmail account. To do so please see this video and if you like the video, please share it and provide your valuble comments in the below comment box. Do not forget to subscribe the channel to get the future updates.

It would have been better if you mentioned the solution (allow less secure apps) at the beginning though, before spending 6 minutes going through all those steps we already know about.

I just went to Google account login. Did forgot password. They send a passcode as long as you have another e-mail on record and just changed my password. Problem solved
I FOLLOWED ALL INSTRUCTION BUT POP UP MESSAGE STILL KEEPS COMING EVERY 10 SECONDS
Go to login Gmail REMOTELY thru the WEBSITE. Then it will ask you for your password. If your password doesn't work, it will ask you for your last know password. Enter that and it will take you to change password. Change your password and REMEMBER it. Then go back to your regular e-mail and where it pops up, put in your NEW password. It should then work.
Top bloke. Had a leaking toilet. You take a poop and the next thing you know it's touching your bum from underneath because the water had overflown and rising. Came in with his mates, brought a few straws, sucked all the water leaving behind just enough for me to comfortably drop a load and not get my backside wet. Seems like a one time fix, eh? Nope! He's left one of his friends behind to make sure whenever someone uses the toilet, he's sitting beside them with a straw ready to make their experience wonderful. Oh and he makes it even more so by playing a violin while he's at it. All I have to pay him is 32k a month and I'm having the best time ever in my toilet while I relieve myself. Thanks Jordan. Thank you for this! Finally my Gmail works in Outlook!! Really clear and well explained too!!
If you have Two Step verification you'll notice that the "allow less secure app" option isn't available. to get around that use the same method in this video the only difference is you have to generate an app password for windows here's a link to quickly get there security.google.com/settings/security/apppasswords here you can generate an app password for outlook and it will give you a password you can use on the Outlook Software. copy that password and paste in in the password column of your email setup

I had a struggle because my computer didn't have the icons you used, but with your thorough explanations I eventually found my way to my Outlook folder where I muddled my way until I identified the section where I was able to enable imap. Gmail is now sending and receiving once again and no more annoying pop up boxes

I found that if two step verification is enabled you have to get an application specific password to allow less secure app access. Suddenly Outlook 2013 became less secure when I changed my Google password. Good video. helped me in the right direction.

I like how this takes you through the setup, although a long way for the fix. The setting in google profile is the quick fix, but again this helps you set up everything. WIth Google updates the menus are slightly different in the Sign in & security, but easy to figure out.
I have googled on how to set up Gmail on outlook 2016 though it didn't give me any workaround on how to fix the error message but you nailed it and I am now able to use outlook.
