    The following service functions are available in the diagnosis system:
    -
    Workshop mode
    Before replacement of the brake pads, the service function "workshop mode" must be carried out. The parking brake is moved into the opened position and temporarily disabled. Subsequently, the brake pad can be replaced.
    As long as the parking brake is in workshop mode, for safety reasons it is not possible to close the parking brake. If the parking brake button is activated despite this, the indicator light in the instrument panel flashes yellow. The workshop mode is automatically exited at a driving speed above 3 km/h.

    -
    Start-up
    Procedure:
    •Ignition ON
    •Apply strong pressure to the brake pedal
    •Hold the brake pedal pressed down
    •Pull the parking brake button for approx. 1 second (engage)
    •Push the parking brake button (disengage)

    Excellent tip on using torx to help work with electric brake, thanks!

    Thanks for the video.
    I do think you missed an important step at the start which is "Losen upand lift off the brake fluid resevoir cap and then set it back on top to the resevoir" This can drastically reduce the amount of force required to push the old piston caliper back inside when it comes time to fit in the new (much thicker) brake pads
    If you have previously topped off the resevoir with new fluid you might even have an overflow potentail. At the start I put a "Post It Note" in the center of my steering wheel that says "brake cap loose" so when I am "finished" hours later and get inside I remember to go back and tighten it down again.

    I jack the rear axle at diff then put jack stands at the jacking points as normally replacing brake pads per axle so I can work on both side

      How did You solve the electric brake error?

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  2 роки тому

      I didn’t get that error.
      I would look at the electrical plug that plugs into the hand brake. Hopefully you haven’t broken any wires or bent any pins.
      Good luck.

      I swapped my rear brakes but received an e brake malfunction light and the e brake won't do anything. Malfunction light went off after a while but still the e brake won't do anything. Has anyone found a fix for this?

    Hi, Sir, My car is 2014 X3 28i. Sometimes the brake didn't release after stop. Is caliper issue or electric hand brake issue??

      Do you have a parking brake malfunction come on your dashboard?

    There are 2 jack points between the wheels on each side. You look for the 3 inch rubber block with a channel for jack adapter.

      You realise that in the video the is where I jacked the car up? The issue is to then find a safe place to put a stand, so that it is then safe to work under the car.

    Did you open the fluid reservoir before compressing the piston? Is it needed?

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  3 роки тому +1

      Yes you should. Put a rag around it in case it is a bit over full. If you do one side at a time then it shouldn’t flood over.

      @@Marksreviewsandtutorials superb. Got quoted £1,200 from BMW to do front and rear discs plus rear pads yesterday. £300 parts alone.
      DIY it is.

    How did you jack the car? Did you use a jack stand?

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  4 роки тому +1

      Yes I used jack stands. I talked about that at the front of the video. See here for how to remove the wheel. ua-cam.com/video/r0lYtVs2ehY/v-deo.html
