I started dancing late, but was encouraged to be a professional dancer. Thank you for acknowledging ballerinas. Their beauty and strength is not often celebrated.
He has spoken the truth of the Ballet community. Very few people outside of the ballet world understand this , as a member of the ballet community and world we thank you.
No, MANY people understand it, it's not that hard to understand. The only people who think otherwise have probably only been exposed to 3 year old ballet recitals. People act like we're all ignorant af, not true.
LOL and thanks for understanding what we ballet folk have to go through. But, when you finally, and even-then-rarely, do reach those moments when you feel you're flying, gliding, floating in another, ever-so-beautiful world, it's all so truly worth the effort; and you wouldn't have given that up for anything, at least IMHO.
I'm a hard rock \ old-school rap kind of guy but I once took this girl I was dating who was a dancer, on a date to this upscale ballet called "The White Oak Dance Project" to see Mikhail Baryshnikov (apperantly one of the best ballet dancers to ever live), you know, just to impress the drawers off her. And I gotta say, that dude was one of the best athletes I've ever seen in my life and I was genuinely blown away and came away with a whole new appreciation for the art. Never really got into it after that, but I definitely had much more respect for it after that. Kudos to you for realizing they deserve respect too.
Omg at 4:00 is kinda scary lol ...even scared me and I am a pro hahaha but bravo for this video and really showing respect towards pro ballet artists 👏👏👏👏👏thank you
Finally someone understands! It is a full life commitment, mentally and physically. BUT the love you have for it is what keeps you going. I am 66 and still dance, not on my toes, but dance every day.
I'm pretty certain that during the height of his Hall of Fame career, Lynn Swann trained with a ballet instructor. It developed the strength, balance and agility that separated him from the rest of the league.
Some ballet teachers have been brought up on charges for damn near torturing people in their training regiment. Its true dedication but for at what cost??
I started to dance when I was 2 years old and I am 13 so I am very surprised that it was like that to other people. I just eat the same and dance the same.
I played basketball and wrestled, my brothers did the same and my sister could undergo more bone deformation pain and jump higher than the lot of us I'd hate to say it but it's a real martial art... just a fruity one
@@michguy1019 Wtf? First people say ballet is a sport (it's NOT) and now a fucking martial art? People don't use ballet for DEFENSE. Look up the word. Just because both involve physicality doesn't make them the same thing.

@@kwyjibo33 Ballet dancers go to competitions with the hopes of enhancing their careers. Ballet isn't about trophies like basketball and gymnastics. And not all dancers compete, however all basketball players and gymnasts compete. That's because that's the entire POINT of a sport, which dance and ballet isn't.
@@melissasmith6762 not true at all. Most people play sports for fun, not trophies. That's not a criteria of being a sport. And, even if it was, then dance is covered because not only are there literally hundreds of competitions per year with trophies, but dance has also been considered to be added to the Olympics. How could dance be considered for the Olympics if it's not a sport? As someone who works in the dance community, they are some of the top athletes in the world. They train more hours than most athletes. They don't only learn dance, but gymnastics, acrobatics, and other training. And the number of times they roll their eyes every time someone says it's not a sport is so high it can't even be counted anymore. Just because you say it's not a sport does not make it true. While it hasn't made it into the Olympics yet, the fact that it's even being considered means that there are plenty of people who recognize dance as a sport.
Hey homeboy, You spoke the truth. How did you learn about this? You part of the CIA or something? cuz this is real cuz. Ballet dancers can take a punch throw a kick all before you say "I'm makin waffles."

Lol, yes it is.
Yesss you can still start late and make it 👏👏👏
You made me feel appreciated and you made me laugh! Thank you so much!

Oh Mikhail bariznakov!! Wow he was phenomonal! I loved watching him perform...
This is epic. I'm a former ballet dancer, I currently teach, and you've hit the nail on the head. Thank you for validating our community!
Lol 'validation'.
Oh my gosh 😳 someone actually understands 😂 this is absolutely amazing!! I’ve been dancing for 12 years and that’s all correct
Don't pretend that not everyone talks about this shit all the time.
Ballet is like a sport only harder😉

Let’s also talk about having to stare at yourself in a mirror for 9 hours everyday that is the biggest toll
Thank you for the laughter it's appreciated very much.

truth wiil set you free usually compromises the dancers feet health. They literally wear away at times
@@RekzysTheTitan I agree
Yay! Finally somebody gets it! Thanks, Josh!!!
A lot of people get it, most who've ever seen any of it. I think ballet people have created a fn myth that no one thinks dancers are strong.
thank you for this. people never usually understand this but you really put it into words
We understand, we're not idiots.
YOU'RE HILARIOUS [AND HONEST] AND I'M DYING!!!!! Sharing immediately.
Now you know!!
Thank you so much of this. I am a ballet dancer, and you are so right, it takes up pretty much my whole life. Haha
