      Some help please....
      Could either of you point me in the direction how to create the Bass/Organ sound in this track???.
      I've bought most of your Serum preset packs from Deceiver and Mercurial, so if anything similar is in any of those that would Amazing!!! 🥰🤗🔊

      @@Lewis-UA-cam Any specific minute? Heard a bunch of sounds in it but maybe you are referring more to the Resonating Pad that occurs here or there ? Reese Bass in the track can be done with 1 saw in OSC A and B and detune via the fine, I would use saws and use a filter. The more detuned the saws are the more movement and grit you get. If you meant the more upper bass pad sounding sound then use sine waves instead and follow the some process above, I would also maybe find a more sine based wavetable if you want more harmonics in the sound.

      @Lewis-YouTube 3 роки тому +1

      @@ZenWorld Wizard! 👌 It can first be heard at 58seconds (It's more of a bass sound but I think Reese sounds like the direction) There is a slight sound of Organ too but I think it's just how the Bass has been detuned or use of layered noise? . Can you think of any similar presets within any of the Deceiver packs?
      Or any in the Pigments 2 Mercurial? 🤞
      Thanks again for taking the time to explain the process. REALLY appreciated! 🖤

    Also secret weapon of reverb is that it gel sounds similiar to compression but in slight different way.And to out of key elements - you have to know were to put them not just drop them randomly.

    One thing I often do when using Return channels in Ableton is to send the combination of the returns and the main mix to a bus channel. Then you can keep them together when A/B ing or performing other mix maneuvers.

    Ton of Info efe!!! -- thank you . I use this method to correct the kick and bass volume : Use VU meter to mix. Take lowest bass element for this method possible SUB. Solo Kick and adjust volume until it hits -3db in VU METER (-18DBFSsetup ). Now Solo Sub and Kick, Adjust Sub volume so that VU meter hits 0 db at the loudest part of the track. This will have the correct loudness for bass .This avoids louder kicks.

    Hiting the chest and transient is important to kicks but not to each of them. Avoiding tuning the kick I guess is more an advanced instrumental technique by forcing yourself finding that variance but freaking awesome one by intuition. If it is a 808 kick where there is that missing transient and almost any character to the hitting part, it makes sense to tune it into key, because what is left is almost the 'tone' it has got longer release and for the bass tone slide it makes absolutely sense to tune it right. 808 kicks are more closer to bass notes (similar as well) and bass notes having not that much of a transient except that tiny pick up pluck sound
    Some Techno style includes that mixing style of 808+909 why works that so well? because 909 has a more punchy character and a much shorter decay exactly or almost what is missing to 808.
    A more deeper going technical explanation is that 909 kicks are more accommodated to distortion (they even sound awesome with distortion or tuned exactly that way to sound best with post filters and distortion). Their energy is more likely towards peaking and clipping and there it seems vital to have more short bursts than a long term thud (because a continuous thud destroys the phase of a speaker cone - it is almost impossible to get other instruments pass trough at same time) almost using that psycho acoustical effect that only the initial or ending sound matters, not what is in between the interval. 808 is more of that saturation type accommodation, they tuned to sound best on overcompression and saturation, hiss coming from vinyl and tape.
    Talking about 808s and 909s kicks as a reference, just as example for your own analog drum synth experiments. There will come a time maybe where you will discover old drum machines, sampler bit reduction, making your own kick palette by only one synth and more other dynamic information which will give a color to kicks beyond tuning them into the right key.

  • @Mnexsis
    @Mnexsis 3 роки тому +1

    Nice video man!
    Use melodyne instead if autotune. Autotune can really destroy vocals and create nasty artifacts (pretty much why I never use autotune)

    • @Mnexsis
      @Mnexsis 3 роки тому

      Now when it comes to artifacts, if you wanna do very small fixes with autotune then yes I guess it won't hurt. But when a vocalist vocal performance is extremely bad and can't hit the notes, then you gonna screw it up even more and make it sound like a wailing android.

    I dont understand the first mistake, in the techno example. They are two completely different kicks. How is this not a stylistic choice rather than a bad production mistake? Why is a moving rumble kick 'better' than a static one.

    • @Alice-Efe
      @Alice-Efe  3 роки тому

      It is not the style but how they are mixed. Kick and rumble was on top each other creating unbalanced low end in the example. Otherwise you can definitely have simple rumble without a groove.

    the thing with house is all the records back in the day were pressed on shitty vinyl. the recordings were badly edited and in most cases not even that nice sonically BUT...... they were good ideas.... they were either good ideas or they were innovative in some way. if you get your head stuck in the maths spending hours going over which frequency is conflicting with which frequency youve lost the point of making music with soul. your just making music by numbers and thats no good for anyone.

    Deadmau5 does not care of key of the kick and said it's stupid for anyone to do this LOL🤣😂🤣. Because the low note is for the bass not the kick and the kick is meant to be just a short transient low noise, (but I understand a concern and I'm just brining this up because I thought Joel's opinion should be heard, sorry for any hard feels 👍😅).

    • @Alice-Efe
      @Alice-Efe  3 роки тому +1

      Watched that as well. But he also mentioned that he used quarter length kicks and his kicks doesn't have tails. Which makes sense as then kick doesn't have any "audiable note" in it. However, many techno tracks just utilizes long kicks with tails, so it is a bit of comparing apples and oranges.
      Though, I would still go for a tuned kick even it is a short kick. Sometimes even short kicks have audible sub parts.
      But then, who am to argue against literal god of EDM? 😊✌

    I heard from plenty audio engineers that tuning your kicks to the root key of the song is stupid. You should only tune your kick so it stands out in the mix, doesn't matter what root key is played. Sometimes tuning your kicks is not necassary, because kicks dont create a noticable note because it's just a transient in the lower 100hz.
