Admittedly, I aimed to upload this from the very beginning I started this channel, but decided against it because 1) at the time I had the English version where the screen goes gray for a few secs, and 2) I prefer the Japanese version over the English version, and at the time I wasn't interested in adding subtitles to it. Now, since UA-cam allows uploads that are longer than 15mins, I saw it as a nice opportunity to make a proper upload of this great OVA. As stated, this IS the Japanese version with English subtitles (which are taken straight from the English dub). I don't have anything against the English version, just feel the Japanese audio is richer, plus, I personally like Sigma's VA, Mugihito Terada.
As a note, I'd like to express that if anyone would be interested in seeing the English version of this OVA uploaded, feel free to leave a comment saying so. Due keep in mind that the quality isn't exactly the same (not in HD), but it's certainly still good.

Here's a little information about the OVA:
• This OVA is included with the Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X video game, and becomes available upon beating the game.
• This OVA serves as a prologue to the game.
• Capcom meant to remake the first six games in the series, so this OVA was meant to be a retelling of the story; however, given that Capcom hasn't furthered the Maverick Hunter X series, most fans consider this OVA purely non-canonical to the X series as a whole.
• Interestingly, in the initial stages of the Mega Man X game for the SNES, the first stage, Central Highway, had a very similar design to the city portrayed in this OVA.
• Dr. Cain seemingly dies when the missiles impact Abel City; however, he was still alive during the events of Mega Man X2, X3, and Xtreme, and was mentioned in the instruction manual of X4. It's often debated whether or not he survived. (It should be noted that this OVA essentially has no relevance with the original games.)
• The scene where Sigma releases Vile from prison is a tad longer in the English version-by about a minute or two.
• Interestingly, the phrase, "evolution requires sacrifice", was later said by Serpent, the main antagonist of Mega Man ZX. Additionally, it is purportedly a quote from Keiji Inafune himself.
• A rather interesting note regarding how Sigma got his scars, is that there are three versions of it: 1) he got them during his fight with Zero in Mega Man X4, 2) he did it himself upon going Maverick using the heat of his fingers in the Mega Man X manga, and 3) X scarred his face upon releasing his limitless potential, as seen in this video.
• OVA stands for "original video animation" and can also be written as OAV.

I know your comment is old, but I want to express my appreciation for your clear explanation to those who don't quite understand. X has been my role model growing up. Mega Man X has always been my favorite game, and I've always admired X's heart. The genius with his name as well. X, a variable, infinite potential. The way he contrasts with reploids, even humans in real life who think so logically to the point they forget what makes us human.
I always loved how X dropped out the air craft. Been a while since I saw this, always a pleasure watching it over.
X was Cain's blueprint for Reploids, however, he couldn't built them exactly like X, therefore Reploids are prone to malfunctioning. Light built X in such a way that he is constantly evolving, to a point where he demonstrates the same qualities humans have, like for example, showing feelings, friendship, and worrying. X's potential derives from the fact that unlike all the other Replods, he evolves constantly and understands right from wrong. You could very well say he pretty much has a soul.
Wow Dr. Light's voice was pretty good in English but his Japanese counterpart blew him out of the water. What a performance.
I know what you mean, I feel the same way! I grew up with classic megaman. When x came out I was becoming a teenager. Megaman was always a short kid, then x was like an adult megaman. So it was cool to grow up together almost literally lol
'Twas my pleasure. I believe MMX was quite the revolutionary game, and I certainly wish we had more of that today. Great game series and character concept all the way.

Light built X with very sophisticated technology; X was the herald of a new generation of robots who could think and make decisions on their own. Essentially, X was built with the ability to reason and adapt his behavior-human evolution. Since, at the time Light built X, the world wasn't ready for such a robot, and he was very old to further the development, X was sealed away in order to test his systems with various scenarios to ensure a proper moral programming: know right from wrong.
The English version I have is clean, so I might upload it eventually, but not in HD, though. It's still in great quality.

This OVA has no weight over the original games, as the canon was reshaped with the PSP remake, and further intended to with the others. For all intents and purposes, Dr. Cain died.

Let's take Boomer Kuwanger as an example: he's AI is based on logical thinking. Whereas X would save a human from harm because he worries for the safety of humans, Boomer would not simply because he rationalizes that that human is in that position of harm because he wasn't strong enough to survive-Boomer surmises that, like a weak Reploid, that human is of no relevance and contributes nothing to anyone.

As for Sigma, his revolt is essentially a boast of superiority over humans, as he believes Reploids are the next step of evolution. Humans are to him what normally humans consider robots to be: slaves.\

Hey bud,
By any chance do you know of the "director's cut" version of this? It was fan made and here on UA-cam for a short while. It took all of the cut scenes from Vile's story that took place during this movie and spliced 'em in chronological order, making for a much more compelling animation. It's impossible to find as far as I can tell, but I'm trying my best to track it down from fellow fans.

To be perfectly honest, this is the first time I've read about it. Wish I could be of help, but I've honestly have no knowledge regarding that particular version.
Somehow, I get the feeling that the subtitles could've been better. But I figure you used the official English script in this case, which is OK, I guess.
