If what was said is likely, refunds will never be seen.
Depends on a few things like how he set up his company and the fine print when the tickets were sold. Its very easy for companies to do things like this if they think they are going to be scummy ahead of time.
lol this is nothing compared to bigger companies corruption that goes unpunished. I doubt anything happens because people waited to say something for fucking years. That gives them a solid argument.
I mean I cancelled all transactions with my bank. My bank refunded me and stuck Blue Rock with the tab for my tickets.
I actually just met someone at a coffee shop who went to the festival last year. Apparently, she tried disputing the credit card charges 3 or 4 times, and each time they fought the disputes. She emailed them about it, and because she went to the Thursday show that got rained out, they're refusing to refund the four day passes she and her husband bought. It's crazy how they'd rather fight the refunds than give people their money back like they said they would.

I’m from the area it all started in. Met Slye several times at local bars and his ego was so big. He did all of this for popularity. He’s burnt many bridges in Lynchburg, Virginia. I know several local restaurants that have catered the rock festival and still haven’t gotten paid and it’s been years.
My family lives in Penhook and Westlake. As far as I know, none have met him but my cousin is a big tattoo artist in Roanoke so she may know of him and people he deals with.

I was there in ‘21 and ‘22. The night we arrived in 21 we were convinced it would be cancelled the next day. They made us park and camp in some random field that wasn’t connected to the festival at all and had a ton of trespassers will be shot signs everywhere. Then it rained. And somehow the next day not only was everything dry, but it was so dry that it got so dusty pretty much looked like a war zone in the desert. Not sure why we ever went again. And near us a porta potty exploded and rained poo on my friend’s tent
22 from our perspective was so much smoother. Not perfect but way better. Felt like it was moving in the right direction. Glad I couldn’t go last year.
I forgot about the porta potty explosion in '21, I remember hearing about it. I had fun then but that year was a shitshow that foreshadowed what '23 would be.

As someone who lives local to the festival and has gone three straight years, I can say MOST of those tickets for 2024 sold before 2023 went to hell. I personally bought mine on the way to the festival when they went on sale. So, most of the ticket sales to me have to be from people like me who are local and/or go every year and just went ahead and put them on payment plan as soon as possible. I do know, however, that Blue Ridge stopped pulling money from payment plans and so mine has gone unpaid since November along with everyone else in the same situation as me.
Have they refunded any of the money you already paid, though?
We did the same for VIP tickets. We have not received any refund even though we requested. I ended up changing my cc info to an old gift card so I wouldn’t be charged
I paid 400 so far for 2024 and after all this news came out, I canceled through my credit card.
Yeah, I've heard from a lot of people that the only way they've been able to get any kind of refund or stop on payment is by doing it through their bank or credit card company.

Definitely wasn't just the fans. To be fair, I've talked to some of the bands and crew on other stages that said they're day was "fine" or "wasn't horrible", so it really depended on where you were. But I've also talked to a lot of other bands and crews that said they felt just as bad as I did.

The fact he requested a Jury Trial is mind blowing. As the defendant in a civil incident, with all the evidence against him, a Jury Trial is a big risk because it is likely that the jury hates Jonathan Slye. The last thing someone wants in a trial is emotion to be brought into this. He should go for a bench trial but it's too late for that now.
99% of people don't know who Jonathan Slye is so they can find a jury easily.

@@whom382That's irrelevant. Once the case starts and a jury is sworn in, they have an uphill mountain in convincing a jury to vote in his favour when you look at what he's done. Tank is someone who could be deposed for building a case. And his account of what happened at Blue Ridge Rock Festival is damning. Pair that with Jonathan Slye saying he doesn't know if he's fit to lead, you get to more than likely he's liable.

@@whom382The difference between a jury and a bench trial is you're dealing with emotion when it comes to a jury, a judge is impartial and deals in only the facts. He should want a bench trial. And even if he lost in a bench trial, it would probably be less expensive because a jury might want to go for maximum damages to punish him.
IMHO:
only way BRRF will survive and live on: sell the Franchise/Trademark ( whatever ) to a completely different company that is well known for knowing how to do such festivals.
Current management of BRRF has flushed its remaining credibility and reputation down the toilet with all the stuff that happened last year.

There have been festivals this bad in Europe: I forget the name but Google "Mayhem cancelled", it was up in Finland, I think, and I was getting flashbacks to BARF 2023 reading the article about it.

A theory I thought of after the last BRRF vid by tank.
BRRF is saying the festival was shut down due to weather and that the reason they're being silent is because of the insurance companies/wording in the contract.
Obviously we all know what actually happened
Theory: BRRF if refusing (and never will) acknowledge the massive disaster that was 2023 because they're in court with against their insurance company because if the festival was cancelled due to weather then they can get the insurance money/get their claim approved.
After they get said money they will then use that to issue refunds.
The reason why them selling tickets is all of a sudden An issue is because they just issued a statement a couple days ago saying that they never sold tickets and haven't been and blamed it on "an out dated website"
They HAVE sold tickets though. Just because they aren't NOW doesn't mean they weren't before, and there are tons of people in these comments saying they already bought some for 2024.

My wife and I went to brrf in 21 and 22. We got married in Sept so we didn't go to the last one. Thank the gods for that. Whole thing stinks man

However, it was his grandfather in the ponzi scheme. In that quote you read he just denies it being his dad. The SEC lists the 68 year old from Arlington VA, and there's a quote from John Slyes dad saying he was unaware of his father's activities.
So technically he wasn't lying by saying it wasn't his Dad, but it was actually his grandfather. Hahaha

I was at '22, they were selling tickets for '23 while I was there, starting on the first day of the festival. I actually considered it, but was still too pissed off about the VIP tickets I bought having lied about the benefits to consider it. Very glad I didn't.
So the tickets were likely put up for sale on that first day before anything started going majorly wrong in a way that was visible to the public, and they just never pulled them from the website, even though they pulled them from the ticketing site.
Exactly. And yeah, most festivals do this, but when they knew they weren't selling tickets they should have at least updated it or taken it down. I guess, at the very least, they aren't ACTUALLY selling them at this point in time.

My friend bought us passes as soon as they went on sale in the middle of the 2023 festival. A day or two after that is when we found out how much of a disaster it was. To my knowledge she’s not gotten her money back after requesting the refund and it’s been 6 months.
Someone in chat also said the same thing at one point. Now I wonder how many passes have been sold for 2024 before they put them on hold.

they updated or had someone update the website, they are hoping for the best outcome in their favor and so they have to prepare for it. if they didn't update the site now, but actually managed to get the festival running, then that would hurt their income. it might look scummy but i don't think this is them trying to scam, they are just preparing so they don't have to rush everything later if someone gets to run the festival.

I've been binge watching your Electric Callboy Euro tour. I'd never heard of the band until I saw them at the 2022 Good Things Festival in Melbourne Australia. Typically not my style of music, but they put on an awesome show. And they strike me as being great guys.

Usually social media outbursts are highly overstated, but all facts considered this event can be buried into deepest dwell and main organizers hopefully start planning on another career.
We had one last weekend, pop-flavoured winter indoors festival, during which over the weekend outburst rised from various cases like highly understaffed venue entry and hence q's, shortage on na drinks and water plus some powercut. But those happen, new organizers, and they took responsibility on errors, though stated that critique was exaggerated.
Single interesting detail on whole case was that one of the biggest names of the festival was cancelled on second day, date of performance by the festival. They didn't even pay em pre-fee, and "by the data gathered by various sources", they decided to cancel em cause "it wasn't worth of the investment".

I was involoved from the very first Blue ridge. I was involved the first 2 years and then we walked away from it. I'd love to chat a little give you even more insight... If it wouldn't have been this particular promoter we would have stayed with this show and I believe it would have been successful. Yep! I came to say this. It was in a post or video posted in the fan zone. I thought it was after all the backlash from 21 but may have been posted right before things got busy prepping for 22.

I was a camper there. I appreciate the coverage and exposure you've given to this. It was my third in a row and by far the worst. I managed to enjoy myself the two years before but yeah they were cluster fucks too. 2023 was just so much worse overall IMO. I commuted for 21 and 22 so I didn't experience what the campers did that year, I pretty much just had to deal with the horrible traffic and waits for shuttles. Made the mistake of camping in 24. Not sure why I agreed to progressively make the ball torture worse but hey, ya live and ya learn.
At least in 21 and 22 I got to see bands all day every day, made it SOMEWHAT worth it.

When you talked about that they would have to set up to whole thing in three days, I actually had to laugh. Wacken puts up Vlogs of their whole set up process, and I think it starts about two weeks before it starts... and they always confirm a couple of bands on the last festival day, before sales start the next day. so yeah, the fact that they don't have any bands confirmed yet and there's other suff happening at the location three days before are enough reason to believe that they are done...

I commented this on your original video, but the company publicly making that claim could open themselves up massively if even one person claims they were injured as a result of severe weather while attending BRRF.

They were at one point advertising refunds, during the storm. Many of us still have the receipts and screenshots.
Blue Ridge rockfest just makes me love danny wimmer presents all the more. Really appreciate all the hard work that goes into making their festivals work as well as they do.
Have been to 3 Rockvilles, an Aftershock and totally agree. Wimmer knows how to pull it all together and make it work! Blue Ridge sounds like a shitshow. Sly thinks he’s a sly fox but he deserves to be a brokeass weasel.
@@susanoakley7322 And even when things don't go so well, like the parking shuttles in 2022 or the water in 2023, they had it fixed by the 2nd day of the festival. The best thing about DWP is they really care whether things are done right and pay attention, and immediately fix anything that isn't right to start.

Obviously this is “hearsay” as well since the posts are all deleted but after the issues of the 22 season, we had decided not to attend. But after a post on their social media detailing that BRRF had changed hands and then listed all the details of the changes that would take place, we decided to attend again. This obviously was the wrong decision but there was a post, from them, describing the new role Slye would play booking bands but that otherwise he was out of the picture. To be told this is not the truth is alarming and now to see that the posts are gone… wow.

Private testing at VIR during the supposed dates for the music festival don't ring any music or other type of event. Private test will probably be centered around...you guess it a race car, could it be a team, a racing series organization, tyre manufacturer or any car manufacturer that wants to test their stuff, but it does not ring any bell about music or any other type of event.
EDIT: Nvm I kept watching the video and the shock of them still using an old website and they saying they have no plans...

The health code violations I experienced should have this shut down along with their "safety plan" which was leave the gates and stand in a storm. They have literally no reason to have this and if they do, the con and fraud is on again.
I'll never forget the way the trees were swaying in the wind. I was so worried some of them were going to come down on the road where everyone was standing.
2021 was a train wreck. We left after first day. Lines for food and bath rooms were hours long. Did not even scan our tickets to get in. Ticket scanner did not care.

My favorite news channel… BY FAR!!!
I legit had a GREAT time at Blue Ridge I was there in 2023, (friday I think?) was there all day, saw Angel Maker all the way to Lorna Shore, Sleep Token, and even checked out Knocked Loose, they had water stations ready, Can full of ice, the aid station was right there, the bathrooms where welll. bathrooms.. Granted I didnt stay for Sat (was canceled) nor did I stay at the camp ground, but over all Friday was actually a really fun day for me.
Sucks that others had a terrible experience, and got taken advantage of... So in support of those people, even though I had a great time on my day there and got to see all the bands I went for, I will not be returning. My heart goes out to all those people, appreciate you guys bringing this information out, because I would have otherwise not had anything but good things to say about my experience.
I was at BRRF’22, I watched on of the cooks have a mental break down due to lack of … a lot of things. He ended up being taken out by security, and then 2 other people making food had a breakdown because they were already understaffed. My food order was hella fucked up, but I didn’t have the heart to correct them, even though it was like $40 for 3 tacos and a water.

The biggest rock festival in Germany "rock am ring" had also to be canceled due to bad weather in 2016, but because this is Germany, the "bad weather" goes along with I thunder impact in the main stage that injured over 70 crew member.
And every camp ground was a muddy swamp.

A buddy of mine went last year, he drove from Cincinnati to that festival, and he said it was a shit show. He had to wait an hr for the bus to get fans from the parking lot to the festival grounds, barely enough food, and water to serve the fans. He said he will never go back to Blue Ridge, or any festival that is not organized.
Blue Ridge wont happen this year.
I can't believe they had the nerve to try this shit AGAIN. And I 100% agree, this thing is as real as a Nigerian prince in my email. Solely on the basis that they will not be able to hire a crew to run it. I can't see how anyone in the community hasn't heard about 2023. Also, how do these record labels justify booking this for their artists? This seems like something I wouldn't want my bands' names anywhere near.

Wacken traditionally announces the first wave of bands for next year during the last festival day, before tickets go on sale the following week.
Rock am Ring often sells quite a portion before the first names are known.
Also: some years ago, Rock am Ring couldn’t get the venue (Nürburgring), and switched to another location - I don't exactly remember on how short notice. But it didn’t influence bookings and tickets I think...(?)
I'm curious, have you ever been to the European festival circuit on a tour before or will this be the first time with EC? Cause I'm curious what you'll say in comparison to American festivals.
I went in 2021, definitely not what i expected. The 6 mile walk to and from the fest because of no busses available, the absolutely horrible grounds they had it on, holes everywhere. Almost twisted my ankle in one, and i know people that have yet to get paid for 2021 or 2022. Definitely glad i did not go last year, and i feel sorry for the people that had 4 day passes and got stuck in that storm. They did you all dirty. Thanks for covering this man, oh and parking for 2021 and 22 was absolutely awful. Not one of the people knew what was going on and the car passes were never checked. I dont blame the staff, i blame the management and lack of communication for that.
they were selling tickets during the 1st and 2nd day of last years even for 2024. i was there and im in the facebook fan page. several members ordered them and had a few payments come out. cant get refunds yet either.

I can 100% confirm people in the Screwed by Blue Ridge Rock Fest on facebook have said they bought tickets before BRRF 23. It’s a good group to do some some research in
I was at the 2021 festival before it moved locations as a fan, so I can’t speak on behind the scenes stuff. The logistics of getting to the festival were probably the worst part. I was handed a parking pass for free by an employee for the weekend which cost at least $50. She clearly didn’t have enough guidance/direction. People were also paying homeowners miles away to park on their property then walk to the show.
I was at 2021 also but in the camping disaster. Paid for onsite camping but got pushed back to offsite, no compensations for the mess up either. Also so messed up that we waited 4-5 hours to be parked which was at midnight!
Are those kind of prices anywhere near the norm for similar sized festivals in the US? Seems insanely expensive to me!
16:49 Even Wacken has some bands announced before starting ticket sales. They're announcing bands for next year during the festival and sales start a few days after the festival. Sure, the bands that are announced this early are usually bands that play at Wacken every year, but it never takes long for one or two headliners to pop up on the lineup. At this point, four months before the festival, they have like 90% of the final lineup on their homepage.

What I've learned from this situation is that if the lineup looks too good to be true, then avoid 😅.
That's why I didn't go the 22 one and hated myself for it so I decided to make up what I missed out on by going last year. Now my regret fof not going to 22 is even heavier because at least they got 4 damn days 😢😢😢😢

I remember seeing a post from Johnthan saying that he is no longer in charge in 2022 and I remember thinking that I might buy tickets if he’s no longer in charge after the fiasco of 2021 and ended up not being able to or whatever but that is actually work for prompted me to buy tickets for 2023 as I was like he’s no longer in charge but after I bought tickets and everything I realize he was definitely still in charge he just wasn’t as much the face of it like he wasn’t posting as much and everything like updates and stuff But I remember thinking like how can you do that like straight out lie to people and I knew then I would never attend the show again and I had a bad feeling coming into 2023 but I really needed to get away with my husband as we just had a baby and it really meant a lot to us to get away and have time together so to make a long drive and be screwed the way we were considering all the bands we wanted to see like that we really cared about we’re on the last two days I was truly heartbroken over this whole thing and still it kills me because I don’t have the money now that my babies growing up and everything in the way they called me and just gotten so much worse I don’t have the money to go to another festival or anything. I remember when we left from the campground 2023 I told so many people like we need to get together and sue these motherfuckers especially Johnthan like we need to contact lawyers we need to get as many people as we can together get the evidence do what we need to do and sue them so they were not just getting refunds for the ticket price even if that ever happens but we need to ensure that at minimum that happens but we also need to try to go for you know all of our camping gear that got ruined the gas to get there what ever we can think of get it for everything that we can Like I am second but that man he acts like he is all for the people in this and that no no he’s a kid he thinks like a kid he just wants to make big money. But yet he made sure to post a video saying that he has yet to make a profit he has not taken any money from any aspect of the festival like get the fuck out of here bro we know better

Blue ridge 2019 was an amazing time and I had such a blast, 2021 was an absolute clusterfuck of wasted money and time. Learned my lesson after that
Then 2022 somehow showed promise. Then they somehow fucked it up with 2023. It's why Blue Ridge blew up. Because 2022 was a solid time.
If I were a proscuting attorney, I'd be using a lot of the arguments in court to ask these same questions with an expectation they should be answered honestly... Tank, you are basically doing the lawyer's job for them.
I know a guy at sunbelt rentals, ha said they owe around 2.5 million.

I been to Rockville for 3 year straight. Whoever said that blue ridge was sold to dwp last year. That is complete bologna, if dwp ran blue ridge they would have had vip sections , water stations in every corner of the festival, portopotties at least in three sections of the event. Probably moved the event to a speedway like daytona where you have stands in case of rain. So no dwp doesn't own blue ridge
So bummed that I will be in NYC the week BEFORE EC is playing there.
I'm leaving for Spain next week and was looking forward to that gig as well, and to play the "Where's Tank" game everyone is raving about on social media.
We have a super small 300 people/day non-profit club festival in september as well and we know the date and plan with the location since november last year and we now start to reveal the lineup. So it's wild to me that right now for a festival as big as Blue Ridge there're no actual informations out, the county has no idea and so on. And then 3 days after a race to turn it into a festival...
But I mean, if this is how they work, and they do everything kinda last minute, then I'm not surprised everything is a desaster...

I went to the 2021 BRRF and thankfully didn't stay long enough to experience the insanity of people fainting of dehydration, backed up port-o-potties, whatever else.
I did however have to walk 30-45 minutes back to the parking lot because the shuttles for our lot never came. And felt bad for the disabled attempting to hike up bumpy, root-exposed hills to find a place to sit.
Did 1 half day and decided it was not worth trying to stick it out for the 3 days I paid for.
