Hey John, here's a story, My daughter who fished like mad when she was five and six (24 now, still at Uni and at home,we weren't like that were we John?) and so said to me yesterday "let's go fish on Lake Burley Griffin" (In the centre of Canberra here). So there we sit with no fish even laughing at us and I start talking about this guy I watch on YT and all his exploits and she says "Yeah I watch him, Fish Locker". Good taste is in the genes ay mate. Good health to you and yours. Kindest regards Allan

Although I have no interest in Lobster Pots, how well and simplistic you explain the logic in setting them up. Then you give us a demonstration of using them in your boat, with a follow up on whats inside them crab, huss and my favourite creature the lobster. What excellent entertainment and relief it provides in these troubled times, thank you for the entertainment and you and your family stay well.

I've always wanted to know exactly how and where these bad boys were supposed to be placed. All of your videos always make me hungry and a little jealous of all that excellent looking seafood. Good to see you're weathering this crisis just fine, and I hope that continues through the coming weeks!

@@TheFishLocker Well we certainly understand that it's hard to make content under this lockdown. Have you considered maybe doing a simple little back porch or kitchen table video with your wife (James as well if he feels like sitting still) and talking about what kinds of things you would be interested in doing in the future on the channel? Perhaps you could do another cooking video as well, one with a full kitchen at your disposal instead of just the little camp stove on the beach? Just my two cents worth. All the best.
KAKADOUJACK - There are a few things we can try. However this has affected us more than folks might know. I am still working and James is considered high risk because of his chemo treatment. So I have had to live elsewhere whilst the family is on full lockdown to try and keep them safe. Stay safe.
@@TheFishLocker Oh goodness me, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad to see you taking things seriously at least, and I'll certainly keep you all in my prayers!

@@TheFishLocker thanks, other than the size issue a permit hadn't occurred to me. I've checked the scot.gov site and you're subscribers may be interested that so long as you do not sell, its one lob and 5 crab per day allowance for unlicensed. I hope to be that lucky👍

Hi Shippers, really interesting video. I know you have touched on splicing in previous video but might be an idea during lockdown to do a series showing how to do them (short, eye and back). Trouble being once you know, you can never just walk past a piece of frayed rope again. Keep the family safe, happy steaming.
@@TheFishLocker we should be down the Llyn Peninsula now getting our boat out for the first time since last October. Maybe next month if we all stay home, stay safe.
Another great vid. I noticed how clean all the crabs were, must be perfect conditions down there for them. A lot of the crabs landed up here in the North East are almost black on the underside, but I think a lot of that's down to dumping waste from the coal mines out at sea, it did a tremendous amount of damage that we're still paying the price for. Fingers crossed you and the boy are back out for summer.
- Sadly William the dumping of things out at sea still goes on far too much. Out of sight out of mind most folks feel. We are very fortunate that the waters are so good down here. Long may it stay that way. ;)
Greta video, lots of info. Maybe you already mentioned which boat you have. If you did, can you refer to the video where I can see it? Thank you for the entertaining and stay safe
Aleksandar Stevanovic - My boat is an Orkney 520. I do several videos where you can see her but none specifically about the boat. You’ll have to google it. 😉

@@TheFishLocker I used to fish a lot from boats from Dover and many a time caught out in some serious weather in the north sea... (real and rod) aswell 🤢👍
John! New subscriber here and really enjoying your content. A little tip I use for leaving your clams and shellfish to purge, is to put a bit of cornmeal in with them and they'll spit sand out and eat it right up! Thus speeding up how fast they'll purge sand and grit! Keep up the good work and stay safe!

When I go on holiday, it's always to the seaside. Meeting up with a small boat coming back in, and an instant barbeque at the ready, I cannot think of a better way to spend a summer evening at the end of a jetty. glass of wine or a bottle of ale, and fresh seafood. Perfect...
not a bad haul of mixed there fella its nice to get a mixed haul to see whats about some pukka bull-huss as that lobster was falling to the depths i wonder if an huge bass ate it lol.I used to fish comercial pots in my teens off the Michael George PT21 i loved them years of my life.

I was just wondering because I just stumbled by your channel a while back and I really enjoy your videos but how do you know where to find the pots again? How do you know where you left them?
- That is why you use a marker buoy, so you can see them again. You could also use onboard electronics to mark on a map. Or what many people do is simply use a landmark reference.
- It is our pleasure Bob. Yes when I was younger i saw a lad dragged over the side by his boot getting caught in a pot tow. He was very lucky to slide his foot out of his wellington.

S A P I E N Hope you’re staying safe. Thanks for watching 🎣
Great to see your work. You should be on TV John...stay safe.
- Just sharing what we love doing Darren. I hope this video helps folks out. :)
Another fantastic video John, thanks for putting in the time👍🏻🎣🎣
- It is our pleasure mate. Take care.
Seems like a lot of work for one crab to keep. Very interesting video. I learned a lot about crab traps.
- I could have taken the fish and other crabs to eat but I only take what we need. Some days you catch lots, some days you catch a little. Some days its easy, and some days its a lot of effort. That's fishing. :)
Really chuffed to see this video appear today, great informative video as always.
Hope you and your family stay safe and well during this horrible time
- It is our pleasure, we are just doing our best like everyone else. We know a lot of people enjoy the videos so we will do what we can under the current circumstance. Take care and stay safe. :)
Fresh crab sarnies made with brown bread, my favourite, lovely catch John..
- Oow, I prefer them in a white breadbun. :D
Nice catch! that crab looked delicious and in fact, I'm kinda jealous. With the current standing of the world right now I honestly haven't had a good meal as of late, its been instant ramen and frozen pizza recently. I hope everyone is staying safe and staying healthy its hard times we're going through but I'm glad I'm apart of this awesome community! Thanks for adding light to my day! Can't wait for Wisconsin's national bird to come back... Mosquitos. lol. but seriously thanks for the fun and interesting videos. Catch ya at the local fleet farm!
- Haha. That Mosquito joke made me chuckle. Yes these are difficult times for us all, let us hope that they pass over swiftly and we can get back to living a freer life. Take care Jakob. :)
Much respect that you put her back. 🤗
- Thank you. 👍
Hope you and your family are well. Thanks for your Tubes Sir. Stay safe.

Very informative as always. Thanks for uploading. Kind regards Mike. Norfolk.

Excellent video indeed!! Loved seeing your craftsmanship and the fruits of your labour it produces!!
I'm glad you think so, its so much more pleasing when it comes from your own work. Stay safe
@@TheFishLocker Thanks, you too mate.
I used to live by the sea as a kid and your videos take me back to those wonderful times of exploring and foraging. Great for the soul!! Thanks again.
I love the boat fishing. Grate to see how you shooting the lobster pots. Really interesting. Thanks mate 🎣🎣
- Just trying to help folks out mate, it can be a dangerous thing to do so hopefully this will help to keep folks safe. :)
@@TheFishLocker yea I bet. Would love to give this a go. Thanks again mate.
L.R.S FISHING - It’s great fun mate. I bought the commercial pots off a lad in Newlyn if you fancy it. 😉👍🏻🦞
@@TheFishLocker I'm there mate 🤣😜🎣
Great video! Glad you're able to still produce content during this time (regardless of record date).
- Aye John but we've just about exhausted out backlog I don't know what we will do moving forward if we don't get out soon.
@@TheFishLocker I'm definitely wishing all the best. I'm still a relatively new subscriber so I still have quite a few videos to watch! Stay safe!
Enjoyed this, easy going practical with lots of information. I'm hoping to start soon in Fife, have a small boat, had a pot, should have watched the video first, I'll persists, try and learn more. Many thanks and best wishes.
- Im glad it was helpful to you Duncan. I don't know what the regulations are up your way - you may need a recreational permit for the pots. Best to check with your local fisheries authority. ;)
@@TheFishLocker thanks, other than the size issue a permit hadn't occurred to me. I've checked the scot.gov site and you're subscribers may be interested that so long as you do not sell, its one lob and 5 crab per day allowance for unlicensed. I hope to be that lucky👍
I love lobsters and crab! thanks for the video.
You're welcome. I love crabs and lobsters too
wonderful John... beautiful waters and lovely crab for dinner! stay safe and healthy to your family!! 🤘🌴😎
- Thanks Joe, yes we do have some stunning waters here in Cornwall. Take care mate.
Loving the videos john. Living the dream you are. I'm sharing your channel with all my mates. Keep up the good work 👍

another great video john, cheers for sharing bud
Keith Gribble Thanks Keith I’m just glad we can provide some entertainment at the moment 🎣👍🏻
Love watching these videos. Almost, if not every time, you and your family upload, I get soooooooo excited. Also, even though my state in America is desert dry, I love teaching people about coastal foraging haha. Great video.
- We love sharing what we know also. Its nice to share isnt it. Which type of videos don't you get excited about Selena? :)
Thanks for showing us your unique experience!

These videos are the only thing keeping me going until I can get back to school
- I'm glad you're enjoying the videos Tom, any idea when the colleges will open back up again?
@@TheFishLocker no I don't know but hopefully september
You are simply a fount of knowledge. I have become your biggest fan simply because you know so much and are so willing to share what you know. You teach in your videos in an off-hand way so that even if you didn't come to your page to learn, you can't help but learn. Thanks. Oh, did you do a video on making those pots/traps? Thanks again.
- Thank you Wil, we are simply sharing what we know and love doing. I think we should all share more. If we all shared what we know, we would all know an awful lot more. :D Here is the link for how to make the pots. ;)

Really useful information John, thanks. It's part of my retirement plan in about 5 years to move to the south coast and get myself a boat. I'm soaking this stuff up like a sponge mate. All the best, Chas :0)
Beach & Predator Fishing Antics It’s a beautiful place. I wouldn’t be anywhere else 🎣

Was once owned by Noel Edmunds .
It was one of them crazy eBay moments .
I thought it was about 15 ft until he delivered it .
Holy Crap I've bought Queen Mary when it turned into the Street lol .

@@TheFishLocker I will do that over the weekend mate .
Another good video John.. Hope you and family and well..
Hi Rob we are keeping busy, take care
Hi Shippers, really interesting video. I know you have touched on splicing in previous video but might be an idea during lockdown to do a series showing how to do them (short, eye and back). Trouble being once you know, you can never just walk past a piece of frayed rope again. Keep the family safe, happy steaming.
Pete Moseley - Now then Pete. We already have splicing videos on the Fishlocker Workshop channel. 😉👍🏻
Love this guys videos
Got great knowledge off the sea

Frank Probert - Any time Frank, if you have my questions about any of the videos just leave me a comment. 😉🦀🦞
That crab was a beast! I bet he was delicious. I hope Fish Locker junior is doing ok during this horrible lock down.
Thanks Kerry, he is doing a great job of keeping us all entertained!
I prefer the Dinner crab over the lobster, but they are so hard to catch a decent size now. Great video, very informative.
I am happy to have either! Glad we can provide some entertainment during these times
@@TheFishLocker we should be down the Llyn Peninsula now getting our boat out for the first time since last October. Maybe next month if we all stay home, stay safe.
Dodgy Davo - Lets hope things relax a little bit some time soon. 🤞🏻🦞🦀
Long may it stay that way. ;)
Nice little vid John can't be many more in the locker (sorry for the pun). Keep them coming if you can. You and your family stay safe.
Aidie Holland - No Aidie we will soon run out of “ones I made earlier” let’s hope we can get something done soon. 👌🏻🎣🦞
As usual fan to watch thanks for the tips ⛏️🎣
I need to write you are cawe of information, lovely vlog
Good bless you and your family
Kristof Rugi - Thank you Kristof, it really is our pleasure to be able to share these things with you. Best wishes and take care. 😊🦀👍🏻
Good morning fella throughly enjoyed your video on the crab pots! I'm a proper deadliest catch fan aswell 🙌 so be safe my man look forward to the next video. ...
- Those dealiest catch boats go out in some extreme weather don't they. Its pretty impressive even for a man who has been going to sea all his life. :D
@@TheFishLocker I used to fish a lot from boats from Dover and many a time caught out in some serious weather in the north sea... (real and rod) aswell 🤢👍
My son who’s 4 loved the video, I found it very interesting also.
I am glad to hear that.
- Hi Doug and welcome to our channel. People have actually told me that already but have said mix pepper and cornmeal together. That is so interesting and thank you for sharing. Take care and have a nice day. :)
@@TheFishLocker I've never tried doing it with pepper thanks I'll give it a shot
Very nice. Thanks so much for the video.cheers from 🇨🇦

Robert Howard - You don’t get Huss? Where abouts are you Rob?
really informative John, I hope you catch lots more.
Glad it was useful, can't wait to get back out there!
Brilliant video. Gives me some good ideas for pots.
Jason Bryant That’s great Jason. Let us know what you come up with 👍🏻🎣
The Fish Locker I may need some help with river pots for Crayfish as we have soo many.
Jason Bryant - Where abouts are you. I am planning some travelling as soon as we are allowed and will gladly take a few off your hands. 😛🦞
Interesting to watch the pots work well
Thank you. I have really enjoyed working them. 👍🏻
When I go on holiday, it's always to the seaside. Meeting up with a small boat coming back in, and an instant barbeque at the ready, I cannot think of a better way to spend a summer evening at the end of a jetty. glass of wine or a bottle of ale, and fresh seafood. Perfect...
That sounds like absolute heaven, you can keep the ale though, ill take the shellfish!
@@TheFishLocker Deal. Well, sort of. I'll need some fresh crab for it to work. Just gonna settle down to Huss hunt now. Stay safe, John and family.
TheMerlin672 - Take care mate. That Huss hunt Hannah smashed it. 👍🏻🎣😆
I've never seen the female lobster with eggs. Lovely little thing. Best to you and yours.
- We have had a few in some of our other videos. Its really nice to see isn't it. Shows a healthy breeding stock. :)
not a bad haul of mixed there fella its nice to get a mixed haul to see whats about some pukka bull-huss as that lobster was falling to the depths i wonder if an huge bass ate it lol.I used to fish comercial pots in my teens off the Michael George PT21 i loved them years of my life.
- Aye it was a nice mixed haul. Good sign of the health of the ground as you say. Haha. It would have to be a bloomin big bass to swallow that girl. I loved potting, it was always so exciting. Take care Ray. :D

What a brilliant catch Sir. How do those dog-fish get in those small pots eh..? Lobster was a beaut ; respect the way you cared for her. I think you might just live to past 100 with that great seafood diet right. Thanks for sharing your time. Cheers to all
- Thank you Ken, you would be surprised where dogfish can get themselves. Pesky blighters.lol Take care and stay safe. :)
Very entertaining and informative video. Thanks. Yeah sloppy ropesmanship and feet are a bad combination! I speak from experience.
- It is our pleasure Bob. Yes when I was younger i saw a lad dragged over the side by his boot getting caught in a pot tow. He was very lucky to slide his foot out of his wellington.
You are so clever making those pots! It's amazing that those bull huss manage to get in them. Are you ever tempted to keep them? I learn something new every time I watch your videos. Thank you 🐙💙🎣
- Thank you Roxie, it really is rewarding to catch in something you have complete built from scratch yourself. I love it. :D I might keep a Bull Huss next time and do a catch and cook. Just for you. ;)
