My first exposure to Mili was actually through Goblin Slayer, the opening is a bop and i recommend you listen to the song they did for the movie as well named 'Static', i also really recommend some of their older songs like 'Bathtub Mermaid' and 'Ga1ahad and Scientific Witchery', they have such unique vibes that i can only describe as fun, creepy, and beautiful at the same time- well, you can describe a lot of their songs in that way tbf
Actually, despite me getting into Mili from Goblin Slayer and Mili doing a bunch of music for other games as well, the thing that i most associate with Mili is God Eater funnily enough, not because they did music for it, heck- i don't even know if anyone in the band even likes God Eater, but it's because i played through the entirety of the game while listening to exclusively Mili music (I was going through a phase), so now every time i listen to Mili, i just immediately think of God Eater lol

Ga1ahad and Scientific Witchery is one of my favorite songs they've done, I think it's also an interesting song because it's written as a duet but sung by only one person

A fun fact about Goblin Slayer, *not many people know but it's heavily suggested that the story is happening within a D&D game.*
There are mentions of gods playing dice that control the characters' fates and you can even hear dice rolling sounds at some specific moments during the anime.
There's even a reference to Gary Gygax, famously known as the creator of D&D, in one of the light novel volumes.
*The fact that Mili added "Time to roll your D20" to the OP song only confirms that further kk* 😁
plus the limited casts of spells totally unique to other fantasy anime shows ( playing BG3 now and WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE 2 MORE CASTS OF HEALING! )
Don't forget the framing in the song itself. In earnest, it's very likely that the subject of the Singer's Ire is actually the DnD players themselves. While it also works really well for the SA analog of Goblin Slayer's world, the mention of the players themselves "Laughters above, playful smiles, die gets thrown" lends well to the idea of them as subject, which changes the context of "All my body exposed, marked up by your shadows" as a more literal interpretation of characters on the board, manipulated by the literal shadows of the players who toy with their lives and introduce horrifying conflicts and sorrows. In that case, what the singer seeks to reclaim, what is rightfully theirs is Freedom itself, a concept they can only get once there are no more players to play out their lives "Slay the last of your kind to reclaim what's rightfully mine"
Not even heavily suggested, the Light Novels outright show us the perspective of the players on the table.

Mili’s official MV for Rightfully and world.execute(me); are must watches for you based on your reaction. Bathtub Mermaid, Ga1ahad and Scientific Witchery, and Boys in Kaleidosphere are also favorites of mine.

Those are very good choices ! they're also some of my favourites but i would also add Extension of you, Victim, Birthday Kid, Utopiosphere, And Then is Heard No More and Dandelion Girls, Dandelion Boys and the Key Ingredient version of A Turtle's Heart and Iron Lotus. Also Sl0t and Summoning 101 need to be listen with Ga1ahad and Scientific Witchery.

Yess, Ender Lilies was my introduction to the Mili pipeline! They actually composed the entire OST, and Bulbel is the credits theme.
Sustain ++ is how i discovered Mili.... and is still my all time fave from her. YOU MUST watch the series, its the movie expanded perfectly, at the time (2006-10?) it looked like a movie every episode compared to any other anime at the time. it was insane
Another layer to interpret ender lillis's song is that in Japan lillies are often used as a symbol of love between women. If you interpret the son on that basis, then clearly the singer is quite interested in whoever they're singing about but the other party either doesn't get it or just doesn't reciprocate.

When you know the story behind Goblin Slayer and what he went through as a kid, Rightfully just becomes so powerful lyrically.
Utopiosphere was my first Mili Song. luckilly found them before they blew up and were still doing songs for rayark. I feel proud seeing them blow up into animes and more bigger games.
something interesting about Sustain++ that i feel gives the story it's telling even more depth: at the end, when it's spamming "sustain++", it's commented out (the "//" at the start), so the program when ran will completely ignore those commands... not only was it unsustainable, it was completely in vain to even try
Mili also acted as the opening theme of two games: My Creator ("Thy Creature" opening theme), Skin-Deep Comedy/ "Promise of Wizard" Part 2 theme song, Paper Bouquet / "The Executioner and Her Way of Life" Opening and anime /game endings like Mortal With You ("Vermeil in Gold"/Kinsou no Vermeil ED), so if you can, expect to see all of these songs by Mili and their earlier works from Deemo and Cytus .
Mili introduced me to Ender Lilies and then I was in love with the game! The art and soundtrack encouraged me to keep playing when the boss battles became difficult.
there is actually a reason why there are a lot of dnd-esk references in rightfully, because goblin slayer is kind of implied to be taking place in a dnd type world and one of the main sort of themes in the series is to "never let the gods roll your dice", surprised you caught that though most people don't

or at least certain songs that feels "connected"; songs like summoning 101, world.execute(me), world.search(you), rubber human, mirror mirror and ga1ahad and scientific witchery
or songs that introduced me to mili(coming from a rhythm game Cytus/Deemo); songs like 9.8, utopiosphere, unidentified flavourful object and rosetta
As for my personal favorite song from mili... it's a tie between utopiosphere and yubikiri genman.
Yeah it's cool how there is a whole overarching storyline between some Mili songs

"One of my favourite songs" is basically every Mili song, except REALLY experimental ones, and even those are great from a technical standpoint, just not falling into one's personal preferences.
love the reactions. I'd like to suggest listening to some of Mili's original songs as well. They are very good. i personally suggest Ga1ahad and Scientific Witchery, Summoning 101, World.execute(me), RTRT, Utopiosphere, and Bathtub Mermaid. Though there are many other song i would like to recommend i leave it at that for now. Keep up the good work. can't wait to see more.

The best thing about the video for sustain++; is that the lyrics are actually (mostly) valid code written in Java. I love it when Mili pay attention to small details like this.
Sustain is one of my favorite songs. If you have to hear ANY Mili song, you must listen to Lament. It’s one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever heard.

I would definitely recommend playing Ender Lilies, it's definitely an easier game in the genre and no where near as hard as Hollow Knight (at least in my opinion), but the world and story is great.

If you don't mind knowing, I can tell you Bulbel is the theme for the credits in Ender Lilies and it's absolutely beautiful to hear in context for the first time. However if you'd be interested Mili also did the rest of the soundtrack in Ender Lilies and while they're non-vocal all are just as beautiful.
When I saw this title, I only hoped for world.execute(me) and Paper Bouquet. I LOVED Executioner, and world.execute(me) got itself on repeat for like a week straight once I found it.
