Finals are over just in time for the most recent SU episode! Man my head was spinning. This is different from my other videos because I'm using a different program and wanted to mess around with all of the effects. I hope you guys like this short video I made in the last 24 hours!

The thing that gets me with the reveal is that before it was a 'us vs them' mentality where they were so high above and detached from the show but with the new information it's 'us vs us' and shows the flaws and humanity in the diamonds, it shows that even if we think we know a situation well enough, it might only be the surface of a bigger situation

this show has taken my breath away yet again.
I still love Rose, I don’t know why people desperately hate on her. But I do have mixed feelings about her and how the story will go from now.
Rose is still one of the most interesting characters in this show with Pearl in my opinion.
I still love Rose too and what I love about this show is that they’re giving us the time to react to this huge piece of information and we are all pretty much reacting like the characters would in the show. Some of us have mixed feelings like Steven. Some of us have strong negative feelings like Sapphire. Some of us are sad like Pearl. Then there are the ones like Amethyst that are still going “whaaaaaaat” lol
It's because she begged to have a colony, then ran from it and started a rebellion which costed many lives, then she ran away again when she become Steven and left him to deal with her shit.

Artistically Lys she wanted to be respected and own her own colony? and she found life worth protecting so she did what she thought was right. her actions did cost many lifes. but hating her and loving the other diamonds is weird, they have done plenty of bad too. Rose is a complex character that this show deserves.
Personally, I don't hate Rose now, but I definitely see her in a different light. When she was PD, she was the youngest, the most immature diamond and as we saw, wanted her own colony so bad. But she got the Earth and I guess she fell in love with it and was too attached, showing she really wasn't ready to have a colony for her own. Also, she was sending in gems made to serve Pink Diamond such as Jasper to fight although she intended on them losing. She didn't really try to change Homeworld as PD either, who actually had some sort of authority, but instead just trying to rebel as someone else. I don't think that she thought her plan through and just assumed that it would all work out. This all backfired and almost all of the gems who were on her side ended up corrupted. I guess her finding Amethyst and giving birth to Steven (who was lowkey left to deal w/ all Rose's problems) was her trying to make up for it.
I also see Pearl in a different light now. Rose made Pearl, pretend to shatter her, and forced her to stay quiet about it, with the justification being that they would be able to live together on Earth. Imagine what it was like, to be a Pearl, and having your diamond want to spend the rest of her life with you. And then for her to move on for a human and give up her life so another human can live. I just hope that we get more on this and we see Rose/Pink's mindset during the actual rebellion

simply breathtaking. you somehow managed to include every gasp, every chest tightening, every dizzyingly sad, shocking moment of these two episodes into this video, plus perfect clip choices to remind us how were never going to be able to watch the first 2 seasons the same way again. i have no reason to really be surprised though, your videos are always awesome. welcome back.

Thanks! I wanted to try to capture all the emotions the characters and the audience are feeling and I felt this song was a perfect way to do that with the melancholy undertone to feel like things are off with the clip of Steven at the end to say “here’s something we all have to accept and move forward with” (characters and audience alike)

Also, your editing was SO good, you already got this program in lockdown, which did you use, btw? your editing was always good, but i especially like this one, the silhouettes, the "glitches" of different types, the transitions, yessssssss your starting to remind me of datis ausum, while still keeping the dot style.
Yeah, many people are hating this reveal, but i think it really will not only add a lot of drama and depth to what we thought of pink and "rose", but it could also lead Steven to figure out both why he was made, and why HE is glad he is made. It's funny how bismuth got to Steven's purpose before anyone. "Then you really are better than her". Steven has always lived in his mother's shadow when everyone thought she could do no wrong, "I will fight to be everything that everybody wants me to be when i'm grown". But now, he knows that his mother has been running from her problems her whole life. It doesn't make her evil, she really didn't have any other choice that wouldn't have led to the extinction of the human race. Steven will learn that his purpose is NOT to live up to his mother, it is to be the exact opposite of her. to face all she ran from. Sure, a part of it is because she wanted a child, but i don't think her giving up her form was out of cowardice as everyone is complaining. it's the opposite. I think she finally faced her problems, willing to give up her life to fix them. She couldn't fix it. It would take something special, someone with empathy, someone who grew up with gems and humans and understood and loved them all. one with innocence and forgiveness and weirdness that no diamond will expect. Something extraordinary. A human being.
WOW i ranted too long. Sheesh su, i haven't rambled so long about a cartoon since Wander Over Yonder and Over the Garden Wall. I hope i haven't just scared off one of my favorite youtubers with this paragraph Xl

I agree. It brings the "Pink Diamond is Rose Quartz" dilemma into a whole new light. Its not petty hate I'm feeling for Rose/Pink, instead its genuine sadness and sympathies for Steven because he has to deal with this. And not just him, but for the Crystal Gems and the Diamonds, too.

It shows so wonderfully how Rose Quartz affected the life of EVERYONE forever, everything she did was not perfect and goody two-shoes like so many series try to portray. It conveys revolution, war, motherhood, family, grief, love, acceptance, power, politics and so much more with incredible skill. I fucking love Steven Universe

I watched this RIGHT after A Single Pale Rose. I think I followed and understood everything in this AMV better at that moment than I do at this one. It was like, speaking a language only my mind in its reeling, unprocessed state could understand. I don't know if I'll ever understand that language as spoken by this AMV again. It was masterful.
I'm honestly bewitched at how the Crew did Rose Quarts/ Pink Diamond's whole character. I am so interested in seeing how Pink went from this bratty child to leader of a whole rebellion.
