- What is a preposition?
A preposition is a small word. We usually put prepositions before a noun or pronoun.
Prepositions show the relationship between a noun or pronoun with other words in a sentence.
In this lesson, you will learn how to use the prepositions of time in, on and at.
A preposition of time indicates WHEN something happens.
IN:
in + month
in + season
in + year
in + part of day
in the morning
in the afternoon
in the evening
ON
on + day of the week
If the event is a unique (one-time) event, the day of the week is singular:
Example: I have a meeting with my manager on Friday.
If the event is a regular event, the day of the week is plural:
Example: The bank is closed on Mondays. (every Monday)
on + date
on + special day
AT:
at + clock time
at + festival / special time of year
"at the weekend"
Example: I'm going to play football at the weekend.
"at the beginning of"
"at the end of"
What is the difference between "at night" and "in the night"?
"at night" refers to any night in general.
"in the night" refers a short specific moment during the night:

Hello Mr Andrew, firstly great thanks for your videos, secondly I have a question... Is there any difference If I say " I woke up last night" ?
No there is no difference
If U wanna say that: I woke up the last night. Then U have to use "in" before the last night
In+ the last/next +Time
Zero preposition + last /next+ Time

Hello teacher have a great day
You too! Thanks for your comment.
Andrew
Good sir
Hello
How are you
Thanks for teaching English
Want more videos on other prepositions
Just here to comment I have that clock at home!
🧕🇲🇦💐👍
It became little puzzling for me cause you said we can use "on " special day like on Christmas , which is a festival , so now we use at Christmas in both ways they are special + festival .
When we describe the Christmas period (which lasts 12 days) we say "at Christmas".
When we describe one specific *day*, we say "on Christmas Day" or "on Christmas Eve." - That is the same rule for ALL days. Example "I went to school *on* Monday." or "I go to the gym *on* Fridays."
I hope that helps.
Andrew
Thanks Andrew it helped
Halloween school is open.
Hello! Here I am asking for your help. I think both options are acceptable:
on: refers to the very Halloween day
at: refers to the period around that day
Do you agree? Thanks a lot beforehand!
Good
falling in you or falling on you?
Wishing you a good life on your path or in your path?Could anybody answer my question?
