OMG! Not only Bobby and the Midnights, but one of my favorites by them. I don't think I've seen anyone else cover this. Thank you, thank you! Now you need to check out the Originator of this song, Lowell George. No one is really reacting to him or his band, Little Feat. A big gap because he and they are wonderful. I think this song is on Little Feat, Sailin' Shoes, and Lowell George, Thanks I'll Eat it Here.
This is one of those songs I have in heavy rotation, and have for years. This is just an incredible cover and the original just slaps as well of course.
Good choice, nice cover of Little Feat's "Easy to Slip". Bob Weir's debut solo record "Ace" is his best IMHO w numerous track heard @ Dead shows in the early to mid 70s. I recommend "Cassidy" but "Feels Like Rain", "Mexicali Blues" or "Greatest Story Ever Told" are all excellent. This record + Garcia's first solo LP are deep in the Dead canon.
Bob Weir had several bands apart from the Grateful Dead, Bobby and The Midnights, Kingfish, Ratdog and Dead and Company, and maybe a couple more. He learned from Jerry that it is good to keep busy, and make money. "Easy To Slip" is a cover of a Little Feat song, written by Lowell George, of course, and first appearing on Feat's second album, "Sailin' Shoes".
@@Akamai2HI I think that was just Bobby's solo album, with a lot of help from The Dead band members. I don't think it was Kingfish or Bobby and The Midnights, at that point. But don't quote me.
Hey Biz, you know from all of my previous posts that I love the Grateful Dead. Bobby Weir is a key member, a founding member. He is still performing bringing the message to new generations. I also love Little Feat. This is their song and to be blunt, they do it much better than Bobby's version here.
"I don't want to live forever in the shadow of you leaving me."😢

My beautiful Bob Weir. Please react to Bob and his other band, Ratdog.

Which band did Ace? I love the version of Cassidy on that.

Jerry Garcia band knocking on heaven’s door Hilo Civic Center, Hawaii. There’s a request. Best knocking on heaven‘s door that’s ever been.

Disagree with Little Feat doing it better. Ratdog does this phenomenally.
Supposedly the last song bob played for Jerry before he died 😢
The original by Little Feat is one of my all time favorites. Lowell George was a beast on guitar. This version doesn’t do it for me though.
Hmm ok
