Chelsi, I completely understand putting so much effort into the making of a quilt and being disappointed at the result, but now, I'm 70, I try to put it in perspective. The vintage quilts I admire so much always had imperfections. Today's quilters are just the next in a long line of quilting history for future generations to study. I would be so proud to have any of those quilts you showed in my collection. Thanks for the video. 💕💫
My first quilt I made after watching about three quilting shows, no pattern, no clue. Just sheer bravado. I loved it to death, picnics, beach, grass. Didn't care. Made for any use. Now I know about seam allowance, pressing, pinning, squaring up... the horror of my first quilt, now rag. But once quilted, and washed, all people ever saw was a quilt made by me. Noone judges. Now I can do quilt math in my head.... and my daughter 20plus years later, has taken up quilting. We've all come a long way.
I would get every one of those quilts quilted! They are beautiful and represent your journey into a wonderful world that you can share with your mom. You are building memories! Think of all of the memories that she has stories to share with you about her family and you will have those too! Your children may not appreciate them now but believe me they will when they get older. I am 65 now and really love all the memories my mom shares with me and I know that when she is gone I will have my own to share! Quilt those quilt tops!!! ❤
The quilts you have shown are beautiful. I think once you have them quilted, you won't see your mistakes. That's the beauty of quilting! We all have quilts that have points chopped off, blocks don't match up, etc. It's our map of our journey through our craft.
My grandmother was a quilter and I am blessed to have several of her quilts. I see love when I look at them. One day, I noticed some blocks weren't matching . Do I care ..nope. Mommaw made it so it is perfect to me! Your quilts are beautiful. Anyone who sees them or receives them will see your love.
We are too hard on ourselves, when it comes to perfection, and feeling we need to do better. All of these quilt tops are so beautiful, and I know your children will love each and everyone to play and use. Hope you get them all quilted soon :)!
Chelsi, I love every one of your beautiful quilts, they definitely need to be quilted and loved. I have been sewing and crafting since I was a young girl and have been somewhat critical of my work. But the people that received them, always thought they were wonderful. We are human and none of us are perfect so why should we believe everything we create should be perfect? We need to look at our creations with grace. We worked hard on them, spent our precious time and love on them and not to mention money😂Love your wonderful creative talent and don't worry about the Negative Nellie's in the world ❤ Thank you for sharing your quilts and I look forward to more of your videos.

Chelsi…from where I’m sitting, all of your quilts look perfect! My quilting friends and I have a saying, “If you can’t see the imperfection while riding by on a horse, there’s no need to fix it”. 😂 You should definitely get all of these beautiful quilts quilted and bound. And I bet it will make you so happy.
So proud of how brave you are to share with the world!! They are beautiful!! To share a quick story: my grandma had a stroke and I was determined to make her a quilt with Minky backing to put over her wheelchair as she would get very cold. I had fabric picked out, most of the blocks made, but my aunt suggested grandma would rather have something brighter than the fabric I had chosen. Grandma’s health was failing and I had to hurry. So, I grabbed discarded blocks that were my first attempts at quilting. Every single point was cut off but the colors were bright, so I sewed them up and straight line quilted it myself. She used it every day until her passing away and no one ever mentioned any cut off points. And I was so happy to have something I made giving her a hug ❤
I love your Swiss quilt. Maybe you could put a 2 1/2” red border all around after you clean up your edges and finish with red binding. That’s what I’d do because I love it. Many antique quilts are not perfect but we love them just the same. In the end the mistakes fade, we see the colors and designs. Your quilts are beautiful Chelsea❤
Or pop in an applique motif to fill the space --- it'll look like the position of the blocks was intentional to make room for the motif. A single non-centered motif will also give the quilt a "modern" look.
Chelsi...they are great! Thank you for sharing. I thought they were all beautiful. You were a new quilter when you made those and should be proud of your work. Mistakes are part of the journey. Just like in life, that's how we learn and grow. Now get them quilted! Many years from now, your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will cherish those quilts because they are the first ones you ever made! Chelsi - I couldn’t believe these were the quilts you talked about - I could barely even see ANY imperfections and they were all gorgeous. Please have them all quilted and keep or gift them. Just like life is full of imperfections - these are gorgeous and so much work - worth quilting and loving for sure.
Chelsi, for the red and white quilt, if you add red sashing all around, nobody will ever know that some of the white crosses got cut off. We are all definitely toooo critical of our work. I made an appliqué quilt 35 years ago and when assembling the blocks, some of the fabric in the sashing was wavy, so I put it aside and never looked at it again until 30 years later. It is now finished and loved by my mom who admires my appliqué work. Your quilts are so beautiful. I challenge you to finish them all and enjoy your hard work. 💖💖💖
Oh Chelsi, your first quilt with the Fig Tree fabric is gorgeous! You absolutely must get it quilted. It is a testament to your journey and perseverance in your piecing progress. My aunt once told me “If you can’t see it from on top of a galloping horse, don’t worry about it!”. I have always internalized that in my quilting journey. Thanks for being brave and sharing your treasures. They’re beautiful!
Thanks for showing us these quilts. We all start somewhere and I think they are just a symbol of your journey. I think it is good to have reminders of how far one has come in their love of quilting. Definitely nothing to be ashamed of. They are beautiful and need to be finished. It will help you grow and deal with challenges in your future quilting journey.
They are ALL beautiful quilt tops! Sometimes if I'm not satisfied with the piecing, I will square up that quilt top and quilt it anyway. More often than not the imperfections will be totally overlooked. They can be given away to family, friends, charity if you aren't wanting to look at those imperfections forevermore ;) Glad you shared!
The memories you shared about each quilt were so positive and happy. A few imperfections (that I had to strain to see, if I could at all)should not be allowed to smother those memories. Have your long arm quilter friends help you bring those happy memories back to the light. You have done beautiful work from the very beginning.😊
The quilts are beautiful! Don’t be so hard on yourself for perfection. Once you have them quilted and bound they will look great! People who don’t sew will not be looking for mistakes- only looking at how pretty they are! Great job!
The people you love most, will enjoy your quilts the most and they are not going to notice or care about your mistakes. Quilt them and use them. I loved them all. I’m looking forward to seeing part 2.

Aren't you glad you opened that box? I feel it really validates where we are on our quilting journeys. I'm hand quilting my first quilt top that was folded away for 7 years. Once I got it out and repressed it, I realized that it wasn't bad at all. I even had yardage for the matching border folded inside, so maybe on some level I realized it wasn't hopeless. Have fun! You and Sherri inspired me to open my own box and learn from it. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing these beautiful quilts! You definitely should get them quilted. I have found that perfection is not the reason recipients love our quilts. They are just so thankful that someone was so thoughtful to make and give them such a generous gift. The imperfections make us human.
We don't get through life without a few bumps & bruises and same with our quilts! This truly shows how you've grown as a person & quilter - that you can feel the joy, love and anticipation of those quilt tops and focus on the life memories from the time you sewed those tops. Agree!! I didn't understand why the Swiss red crosses bothered her so much. I just saw them as Staggered, right?!? Don't think Any should be trimmed off 🥰 This Collection will make a great Show altogether someday!

When I don’t think my points are as precise as I wish them to be, I stand back and then imagine it quilted and then washed ( I like the crinkled look). So often our lack of perfection doesn’t matter. I look forward to seeing the other quilts in the box and all of them quilted and finished.

Chelsi. This was a great video. It amazed me. My first quilt was done more than 30 years ago. It was partially quilted. With the help of a friend I got it beautifully quilted. I need to add binding. I cried when she gave me the completed quilt. It is a good feeling to have the first one quilted. You have shown us that all quilters start out making mistakes and the quilt. Comes out beautiful. If you can’t see it on camera, you can’t see it hanging on the wall. The quilters motto “if you can’t see if while ride a galloping horse, it doesn’t count”. I like a new moniker. If you can’t see it on camera it doesn’t count. Thank you for making us all feel better about our work. Finished is better than perfect 😁

I’ve made so many quilts that I just didn’t like when I was done but….I had them quilted and the quilting just changes how it looks. Have them quilted and love them. They are all beautiful.
Chelsi, you are far too hard on yourself. Quilting is a journey, and look how far you have come. Even your beginning quilts are nice. You should have them quilted and enjoy the memories that come along with each quilt. I am 73 now. I started learning to quilt when I was in my early 20s. I actually threw away the first quilt I ever made and could kick myself now.🤣 Be proud of yourself. You have come so far. Enjoy your Christmas holiday with your lovely family.
They are all very pretty! You definitely should get them quilted. If you can't handle your mistakes just donate them to a good cause. I'm sure someone would love to have one. I know I would. 🤗
The colors and fabric choices were perfect for each pattern. I have found that once a quilt is quilted and bound and washed many of the things we are so critical about - seem to disappear. And if the quilt is actually used then love covers all. Thank you for sharing your quilt journey.
You definitely should get them quilted. Even seasoned quilters continue to make mistakes. That's just part of being human. I'm glad that going through them didn't stress you out but showed you how far you have come. Hang in there. Can't wait to see them quilted. I collect antique quilts and none of them are perfect. It's the joy of completing them and seeing others enjoy them even if it's just displaying them for the holidays or using them in a trunk show to encourage new quilters.
I love the pores in your face analogy… all the tops you showed are definitely quilt worthy‼️ QUILT THEM‼️ can’t wait to see the rest of your box… your experience is like mine…when I lay it a side and then look at it later… I say well yeah ok it’s not as bad as I thought!
Thank you for sharing all of those quilts Chelsi, they are all wonderful....and if not perfect, they are perfectly wonderful!! Watching the video, I couldn't see any mistakes and once they are quilted mistakes tend to be less visible. Since all quilters tend to be wonderful people, I don't think your long arm quilters will have a problem with them the way you think they will, but you could always look for someone just starting a long arm business to quilt them that would like the practice if you wouldn't be too troubled with any mistakes they might make should that happen. In my opinion you should have your very first quilt you made quilted and take it to any and every trunk show or class you teach to share with others as your first quilt. It is truly a treasure and might be a wonderful encouragement to new and seasoned quilters alike to just accept their best and always strive to do better without letting mistakes and failures be a discouragement! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the quilts in your previously unloved box (that seems like you are loving again, rightfully so!)
You did so well showing us these quilts, they are beautiful! Sometimes building something up in your mind isn’t reality - very cathartic for you to see what a great job you did and have a little more positive self talk. ❤
They are great! Find a non judgemental quilter! They can kill or encourage quilters. My first quilt I had done, which I paid plenty for her to do, was wonky. After friends encouraged me I tried again, found a wonderful quilter who encouraged and taught me tips. I've made 100's of quilts by now! Merry Christmas!
it really helps to see someone else's early quilting journey. it reminds me to be kinder to myself. many videos on UA-cam are so highly edited that everyones work always looks perfect. then when I try to sew those "easy projects", it often takes me 3-4x as long, and the results are never so perfect as on those videos leaving me frustrated and disappointed in myself. not a great feeling. so I have to constantly remind myself to just enjoy the process of learning and growing and just have fun sewing. so thank you for sharing. I thought your quilts were so pretty and the colors were beautiful. 🌻
I listen to all your podcasts and was happy to see some of these quilt tops from your box Chelsi. You definitely have to get them quilted. I can relate to your feelings why these tops were boxed away, you work and work on a top and maybe just are tired with it. But then after time when you look they are fresh and new again and look totally fine. If you don't keep them they make wonderful charity or raffle quilts for an organization raising funds. Thanks for opening the box and sharing your work....you are getting better as a piecer with each quilt....it's a journey!!
I loved them all Chelsi. I think as time goes on, we forget about the imperfections and just remember the time we spent creating the piece and that puts it into.a whole different perspective.
Once a quilt is quilted the imperfections seem to disappear, so no reason to be so hard on your self. I do a lot of charity quilts that I quilt simply on my domestic machine. They may not be perfect but the recipient is so grateful to have something to cuddly to keep them warm.❤
Chelsi, all your quilts are beautiful! And they obviously hold such sweet memories for you. Who cares if they aren’t perfect, they are still beautiful! I have my very first quilt on my longarm now. I think my oops are much more visible than yours. I had it in my head that the borders were pieced like binding! So I have these hideous 45 degree pieces in my border! After you talked about your quilts it inspired me to quilt it anyway. Hope to finish it in January! Thanks so much for inspiring us all! Get them all quilted! If you don’t want to keep any of them, donate to a good cause!
Oh Chelslie you need to get them quilted and own that you were learning. Embrace your learning experience and see where you started and where you are now. Do not let those tops languish away to never be seen. You are a precious girl and I want to see your tops finished and you moving forward on your journey.
Oh my gosh Chelsi!!!! There's not one I don't like!! The one with the houses around the edge might be my favorite 🥰🥰 I think you need to get them ALL quilted! You will be so glad you did. The one that might end up being a bench pillow is great, too.
Ok I am a newer quilter. I understand what it’s like to be super critical of our own work. If you learned something from the quilts - it was worth all the time and energy you put into each project. Having said that, each of those imperfect quilts deserves to be finished. You need to quilt all of them. Leave the mistakes. Just like our children, we don’t love them less for their imperfections - we love them more. Truthfully, Non-quilters won’t see your mistakes. And experienced quilters who criticize you are not your friends. Your quilts were not made for a juried competition. Be proud of your competitions. Love those babies. Give them purpose.

I can hardly wait to see these quilted. I understand the feeling of frustration, but believe me, once quilted, the mistakes will only be seen if you point them out. They are all so beautiful!
They are all beautiful! Can you imagine the joy anyone would feel if they received these for a gift? Maybe think about giving some of them to a charity like a women’s shelter.
Chelsi, you simply must get these quilts tops quilted pronto! They’re all gorgeous and none of your mistakes are visible at all. I particularly liked the Fat Quarter Shop quilt a long Christmas quilt. I think it was the second one you showed and it had red and green gingham in it. Loved it!!!!!
I loved seeing your quilts. My father always said that every project you make, there has to be a mistake so the evil spirts can get out. Your quilt tops are pure joy now because the evil spirits all got out. Quilt them up and enjoy them. They are beautiful!

Oh my! You need to finish all of these! Even if they aren't all perfect...they are part of your journey! I actually love now looking back at things I made 30 years ago to see how far I have come. Same is true with my longarm FMQ journey...have only been doing that for 3 years and I can see so much improvement. Go you for facing that box...it really is a treasure!!!

I LOVED all of your quilt tops and hope that you’ll share more, plus videos of them as you get them quilted. I have mistakes in all of my quilts that *I* know are there, though I work hard at everything being 100%. Oh Chelsi! These are all wonderful! You are your worst critic! Give yourself credit for this journey. Once they are washed a few times, who will notice? Yes, I know, you will, BUT your loved ones will know they are full of your love and will treasure them all the more!! I am like you, when I show someone what I've sewn, the first thing I point out are my mistakes! I will never be perfect and that is OK. As long as i've tried my best ( as long as it's not horrendous lol ) I'm OK. Now go get them quilted!!!!

Those are definitely worthy of being finished. Noone will pick out any 'mistakes' or see or feel "not- perfectionist pressing". I can't wait to see the second batch. What a beautiful collection and a great goal to empty that bin for good.
It’s hard seeing our mistakes - especially when it’s OUR mistakes. It’s only noticeable to us bc we are the creator/artist. It is a journey though and they still hold memories and joy - quilt those bad boys up!! I’m looking forward to seeing the rest!
Thank you for sharing! I learned to sew when I was about 8 years old & mostly made clothes. I tried quilting in my early 30s & my first few attempts were awful--the first started falling apart after the second wash! These are gorgeous! Yes, there may be flaws, but they are all beautiful. Quilts are made to be loved & they can't be loved if they are hidden in a box!
Love all the quilts! My quilting mentor told me early on that if you can't see it from the back of a galloping horse it's ok. That took alot of pressure off me, I do my best but stuff happens. As Jenny Doan says finished is better than perfect. Thank you for all you share with us.

Chelsi, as i watched this video today, i could not see your "oops". What i saw were beautiful quilt tops that MANY of us would BE PROUD to see or have. Your work and quilts are inspiring. I would look at it as "this quilt taught me the importance of a 1/4 inch seam", "this quilt taught me xxx". Honestly, the way you talked about them in a previous podcast, I thought they were going to be terrible! You haven't given yourself enough credit for how nice they are and for all the ways they do work.
Ok my last comment, there are so many many quilters out here and so many new ones that depend on utube to be their teachers!! When I and even now feel my quilts aren’t worthy I don’t complete them now watching this you need them all quilted and it will make anxiety go away. Your son would absolutely love that quilt even now!!!!

So, I grabbed discarded blocks that were my first attempts at quilting. Every single point was cut off but the colors were bright, so I sewed them up and straight line quilted it myself. She used it every day until her passing away and no one ever mentioned any cut off points. And I was so happy to have something I made giving her a hug ❤
Chelsi, those are quilts waiting for your kids to love. They may not be showroom perfection but they are perfect for kids to enjoy without worry

I love your Swiss quilt. Maybe you could put a 2 1/2” red border all around after you clean up your edges and finish with red binding. That’s what I’d do because I love it.
Many antique quilts are not perfect but we love them just the same. In the end the mistakes fade, we see the colors and designs. Your quilts are beautiful Chelsea❤
I agree. Adding a border in a similar red color should disguise any misalignment.
Or pop in an applique motif to fill the space --- it'll look like the position of the blocks was intentional to make room for the motif. A single non-centered motif will also give the quilt a "modern" look.
Chelsi...they are great! Thank you for sharing. I thought they were all beautiful. You were a new quilter when you made those and should be proud of your work. Mistakes are part of the journey. Chelsi - I couldn’t believe these were the quilts you talked about - I could barely even see ANY imperfections and they were all gorgeous. Please have them all quilted and keep or gift them. Just like life is full of imperfections - these are gorgeous and so much work - worth quilting and loving for sure.
Chelsi, for the red and white quilt, if you add red sashing all around, nobody will ever know that some of the white crosses got cut off. We are all definitely toooo critical of our work. I made an appliqué quilt 35 years ago and when assembling the blocks, some of the fabric in the sashing was wavy, so I put it aside and never looked at it again until 30 years later. It is now finished and loved by my mom who admires my appliqué work. Your quilts are so beautiful. I challenge you to finish them all and enjoy your hard work. 💖💖💖

Oh Chelsi, your first quilt with the Fig Tree fabric is gorgeous! You absolutely must get it quilted. It is a testament to your journey and perseverance in your piecing progress. My aunt once told me “If you can’t see it from on top of a galloping horse, don’t worry about it!”. I have always internalized that in my quilting journey. Thanks for being brave and sharing your treasures. They’re beautiful!
Thanks for showing us these quilts. We all start somewhere and I think they are just a symbol of your journey. I think it is good to have reminders of how far one has come in their love of quilting. Definitely nothing to be ashamed of. They are beautiful and need to be finished. It will help you grow and deal with challenges in your future quilting journey.
They are ALL beautiful quilt tops! Sometimes if I'm not satisfied with the piecing, I will square up that quilt top and quilt it anyway. More often than not the imperfections will be totally overlooked. They can be given away to family, friends, charity if you aren't wanting to look at those imperfections forevermore ;) Glad you shared!

The memories you shared about each quilt were so positive and happy. A few imperfections (that I had to strain to see, if I could at all)should not be allowed to smother those memories. Have your long arm quilter friends help you bring those happy memories back to the light. You have done beautiful work from the very beginning.😊
The quilts are beautiful! Don’t be so hard on yourself for perfection. Once you have them quilted and bound they will look great! People who don’t sew will not be looking for mistakes- only looking at how pretty they are! Great job!

Aren't you glad you opened that box? I feel it really validates where we are on our quilting journeys. I'm hand quilting my first quilt top that was folded away for 7 years. Once I got it out and repressed it, I realized that it wasn't bad at all. I even had yardage for the matching border folded inside, so maybe on some level I realized it wasn't hopeless. Have fun! You and Sherri inspired me to open my own box and learn from it. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing these beautiful quilts! You definitely should get them quilted. I have found that perfection is not the reason recipients love our quilts. They are just so thankful that someone was so thoughtful to make and give them such a generous gift. The imperfections make us human.

Agree!! I didn't understand why the Swiss red crosses bothered her so much. I just saw them as Staggered, right?!? Don't think Any should be trimmed off 🥰 This Collection will make a great Show altogether someday!

When I don’t think my points are as precise as I wish them to be, I stand back and then imagine it quilted and then washed ( I like the crinkled look). So often our lack of perfection doesn’t matter. I routinely shared that with my students. Now that I am retired, I am quilting a little most every day. I am discovering piecing isn’t so easy. Chelsi. This was a great video. It amazed me. My first quilt was done more than 30 years ago. It was partially quilted. With the help of a friend I got it beautifully quilted. I need to add binding. I cried when she gave me the completed quilt. It is a good feeling to have the first one quilted. You have shown us that all quilters start out making mistakes and the quilt. Comes out beautiful. If you can’t see it on camera, you can’t see it hanging on the wall. The quilters motto “if you can’t see if while ride a galloping horse, it doesn’t count”. I like a new moniker. If you can’t see it on camera it doesn’t count. Thank you for making us all feel better about our work. Finished is better than perfect 😁

I’ve made so many quilts that I just didn’t like when I was done but….I had them quilted and the quilting just changes how it looks. Have them quilted and love them. They are all beautiful.

I am 73 now. I started learning to quilt when I was in my early 20s. I actually threw away the first quilt I ever made and could kick myself now.🤣

The colors and fabric choices were perfect for each pattern. I have found that once a quilt is quilted and bound and washed many of the things we are so critical about - seem to disappear. And if the quilt is actually used then love covers all. Thank you for sharing your quilt journey.
You definitely should get them quilted. Even seasoned quilters continue to make mistakes. That's just part of being human. I'm glad that going through them didn't stress you out but showed you how far you have come. Hang in there. Can't wait to see them quilted. I collect antique quilts and none of them are perfect. It's the joy of completing them and seeing others enjoy them even if it's just displaying them for the holidays or using them in a trunk show to encourage new quilters.

Thank you for sharing all of those quilts Chelsi, they are all wonderful....and if not perfect, they are perfectly wonderful!! Watching the video, I couldn't see any mistakes and once they are quilted mistakes tend to be less visible. Since all quilters tend to be wonderful people, I don't think your long arm quilters will have a problem with them the way you think they will, but you could always look for someone just starting a long arm business to quilt them that would like the practice if you wouldn't be too troubled with any mistakes they might make should that happen. In my opinion you should have your very first quilt you made quilted and take it to any and every trunk show or class you teach to share with others as your first quilt. It is truly a treasure and might be a wonderful encouragement to new and seasoned quilters alike to just accept their best and always strive to do better without letting mistakes and failures be a discouragement! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the quilts in your previously unloved box (that seems like you are loving again, rightfully so!)
You did so well showing us these quilts, they are beautiful! Sometimes building something up in your mind isn’t reality - very cathartic for you to see what a great job you did and have a little more positive self talk. ❤
They are great! Find a non judgemental quilter! They can kill or encourage quilters. My first quilt I had done, which I paid plenty for her to do, was wonky. After friends encouraged me I tried again, found a wonderful quilter who encouraged and taught me tips. I've made 100's of quilts by now!

it really helps to see someone else's early quilting journey. it reminds me to be kinder to myself. many videos on UA-cam are so highly edited that everyones work always looks perfect. then when I try to sew those "easy projects", it often takes me 3-4x as long, and the results are never so perfect as on those videos leaving me frustrated and disappointed in myself. not a great feeling. so I have to constantly remind myself to just enjoy the process of learning and growing and just have fun sewing. so thank you for sharing. I thought your quilts were so pretty and the colors were beautiful. 🌻
I listen to all your podcasts and was happy to see some of these quilt tops from your box Chelsi. You definitely have to get them quilted. I can relate to your feelings why these tops were boxed away, you work and work on a top and maybe just are tired with it. But then after time when you look they are fresh and new again and look totally fine. If you don't keep them they make wonderful charity or raffle quilts for an organization raising funds. Thanks for opening the box and sharing your work....you are getting better as a piecer with each quilt....it's a journey!!
I loved them all Chelsi. I think as time goes on, we forget about the imperfections and just remember the time we spent creating the piece and that puts it into.a whole different perspective.
Once a quilt is quilted the imperfections seem to disappear, so no reason to be so hard on your self. I do a lot of charity quilts that I quilt simply on my domestic machine. They may not be perfect but the recipient is so grateful to have something to cuddly to keep them warm.❤
Thanks for sharing your 'hidden' box. Just get things quilted, and no one but you will know about any imperfections. Finished is better than perfect!!
Chelsi, all your quilts are beautiful! And they obviously hold such sweet memories for you. Who cares if they aren’t perfect, they are still beautiful! I have my very first quilt on my longarm now. I think my oops are much more visible than yours. I had it in my head that the borders were pieced like binding! So I have these hideous 45 degree pieces in my border! After you talked about your quilts it inspired me to quilt it anyway. Hope to finish it in January! Thanks so much for inspiring us all! Get them all quilted! If you don’t want to keep any of them, donate to a good cause!

Oh my gosh Chelsi!!!! There's not one I don't like!! The one with the houses around the edge might be my favorite 🥰🥰 I think you need to get them ALL quilted! You will be so glad you did. The one that might end up being a bench pillow is great, too.
Ok I am a newer quilter. I understand what it’s like to be super critical of our own work. If you learned something from the quilts - it was worth all the time and energy you put into each project. Having said that, each of those imperfect quilts deserves to be finished. You need to quilt all of them. Leave the mistakes. Just like our children, we don’t love them less for their imperfections - we love them more. Truthfully, Non-quilters won’t see your mistakes. And experienced quilters who criticize you are not your friends. Your quilts were not made for a juried competition. Be proud of your competitions. Love those babies. Give them purpose.

I can hardly wait to see these quilted. I understand the feeling of frustration, but believe me, once quilted, the mistakes will only be seen if you point them out. They are all so beautiful!
They are all beautiful! Can you imagine the joy anyone would feel if they received these for a gift? Maybe think about giving some of them to a charity like a women’s shelter.
Chelsi, you simply must get these quilts tops quilted pronto! They’re all gorgeous and none of your mistakes are visible at all. I particularly liked the Fat Quarter Shop quilt a long Christmas quilt. I think it was the second one you showed and it had red and green gingham in it. Loved it!!!!!
I loved seeing your quilts. My father always said that every project you make, there has to be a mistake so the evil spirts can get out. Your quilt tops are pure joy now because the evil spirits all got out. Quilt them up and enjoy them. They are beautiful!

Oh Chelsi! These are all wonderful! You are your worst critic! Give yourself credit for this journey. Once they are washed a few times, who will notice? Yes, I know, you will, BUT your loved ones will know they are full of your love and will treasure them all the more!! I am like you, when I show someone what I've sewn, the first thing I point out are my mistakes! I will never be perfect and that is OK. As long as i've tried my best ( as long as it's not horrendous lol ) I'm OK. Now go get them quilted!!!!

It’s hard seeing our mistakes - especially when it’s OUR mistakes. It’s only noticeable to us bc we are the creator/artist. It is a journey though and they still hold memories and joy - quilt those bad boys up!! I’m looking forward to seeing the rest!
Thank you for sharing! I learned to sew when I was about 8 years old & mostly made clothes. I tried quilting in my early 30s & my first few attempts were awful--the first started falling apart after the second wash! These are gorgeous! Yes, there may be flaws, but they are all beautiful. Quilts are made to be loved & they can't be loved if they are hidden in a box!
Love all the quilts! My quilting mentor told me early on that if you can't see it from the back of a galloping horse it's ok. That took alot of pressure off me, I do my best but stuff happens. As Jenny Doan says finished is better than perfect.

These are very nice quilts, Chelsi.You should get all of them quilted and keep, donate or gift as you wish. I would look at it as "this quilt taught me the importance of a 1/4 inch seam", "this quilt taught me xxx". Honestly, the way you talked about them in a previous podcast, I thought they were going to be terrible! You haven't given yourself enough credit for how nice they are and for all the ways they do work.
Ok my last comment, there are so many many quilters out here and so many new ones that depend on utube to be their teachers!! When I and even now feel my quilts aren’t worthy I don’t complete them now watching this you need them all quilted and it will make anxiety go away. Your son would absolutely love that quilt even now!!!!
