SES hasn't posted anything new in a while. Was beginning to worry about Susan &Jules. Thanks for the confirmation that they are well! Running into and sharing time with them must've been kind of surreal and really cool!! Love all of your vids, but this one was particularly sweet♥️. Bon Voyage.
Point Loma is where I was stationed. The submarine base is there. I never got use to the people wearing shorts and tee shirts on Christmas. 😁😁😁 CG-52 is a Ticonderoga class guide missile cruiser. Her name is USS Bunker Hill.
I was stationed at Ballast Point on the USS Sperry AS-12 for six months, right out of boot camp in 1965.... San Diego was “ Sailor Town” in those days. Grew to love the town... Balboa Park, the famous zoo... great memories....Plan on sailing there soon, prepping for the 2023 Baha Haha....
My friend Jim recently was down in SD to buy an Alden schooner (Danuntless). I was telling him that of course Dauntless is a beautiful boat and I'd love sail on her but that she's too much of gentleman's yacht for me. I told I him I preferred Quarter Horses to Thoroughbreds and I mentioned Rediviva as an example of something I could see owning. Jim was familiar with your UA-cam channel and admitted he found your story "compelling". Dauntless will be Jim's 2nd wooden boat and I think it will suit him fine because he's the kind of guy who likes fussy difficult projects.
That was so cool that you guys got to anchor next to Emerald Steel. Those two are the definition of badass. The way they tell the story of building their boat is epic.
So far the change from building to sailing is just as interesting and entertaining as ever (which is very, very) I’ll bet the folks you met felt quite nostalgic about seeing their mini-me’s (the way you might feel some day) they will have a lot of knowledge to share so hopefully you’ll keep in touch. George Buehler has left quite a legacy for you and others to perpetuate.
Two of my favorite couples ! I was truly wondering if your paths would cross!! An yes, yes you all did! Fab boo....! I'm so excited for next week to see you get the best "autopilot" ever... Thanks for sharing your lives with us.... ✌🏼💗😊⛵
Im a Big Fan.... Not sure why Im thinking that was such a Outstanding Episode??? is was No Doubt!!!! Props to both of you... Editing Over the Top Ruth!!!! ✌✌❤💛💙🧡💚✌✌..... and Thank You.... Carry On..... Please.........
Nostalgic history making as you hosted another boat building couple. Who after 40 yrs are still working on their boat. Life lessons, balance dreams with a dose of practical reality. Enjoying the background music.
ahh great last stop, great ep.!...now we''ll look across the water from our favorite little Glorietta Bay Park and "see" the beautiful red Rediviva and Emerald Steel at anchor!!
So happy to see a surfboard aboard!! And, to see ya'll meet Suzie & Jules. Rediviva has now been blessed. Awesome channel!! Eager to see some surfing in Mexico. ✌️
Was it planned to meet Suzie and Jules there? You two introduced me to them in a video way back in the early building days. Have drawn inspiration from them ever since God I'm in love with this community. Take me 🙌
You two couples together gave me goosebumps. You are in my old home town, and we miss you back in Napa. But the beauty of cruising is exploring new places and meeting interesting people. Asta Laugeo Amigos, and thanks for bringing all of us along❣️😘
Watching the second last clip made me realise how many lineal meters of lumber you two have pushed through various machines to build that ship. It's mind boggling. Fair winds.
You guys are 'New Old School' and Emerald Steel is 'Old New School' but they look like brothers from a different Mother. So many similarities of design, guess you guys made all the right choices.
Part of me misses SD Harbor. I have come and gone dozens of times out of that harbor, but it was as crew on the USS Harry W. Hill (DD-986), thanks for the memories.
Wow! Y'all landed in my home town! I was born at the Balboa Naval Hospital (which I am told is no longer there where it was at the south end of Balboa Park). I grew up mostly in northern SD county in two (then were farming towns but urban sprawl took out the farms) Of Leucadia and Encinitas. Not sure if anyone ever told you this, Garrett, but you could be Avi Kaplan's twin. If no one said this to ya, then you NEED to check out his channel here to listen to his music. BTW, he used to be with Pentatonix. Congratulations, y'all survived the "shake down cruise" and yeah, need to retighten the rigging. So, may there be always a sunrise and a sunset and the wind at your back, bon voyage!
I so regret I didn’t find the time to drive down, or fly, from Mendocino, to see your boat in person while still at Napa, and meet you two. I’ve followed you guys since the beginning. Glad to see you’re finally having fun with her. Fair winds, and have a blast.
Drunk Ruthie?? Hmmm... GARRET?? Another completely fantastic video! It's all I can do to stop commenting until the next episode! Living the DREAM!! Garret when you found Ruthie you became the richest man alive ever. And a damn nice boat to boot. You've earned this buddy. Sail off into the future with the two most beautiful ladies. Rediviva, and Ruthie. Fair winds and following seas, Captain. I love you guys. Tension that mast! As you've already done months ago. Your IG is a complete spoiler alert. Please stay safe. Get survival suits. Please stay safe.
Been a while I’ve seen you guys, the boat looks great. Have to be honest I had my doubts about the layout but it looks good. Wish you guys a lot of great adventures.
Overall, I've enjoyed your videos. But, the best parts are when you just let us experience what it's like to go cruising. I love just looking out at the water and hearing the sounds, as the boat sails along. You really don't need to be on camera all the time and you don't need to be endlessly commenting on the experience. The sights and sounds of sailing speak for themselves.
I did my marine corps recruit training there at MCRD San Diego which borders the airport, things were quite abit different there back in the 70’s, I started watching your videos from the beginning and it blows my mind how many years its been, you guys are one of the few channels I watch every single time you post a video on Thursday, so when you post a day later my world isn’t right lol god bless you both!!
Welcome to San Diego! My home away from home. I was in the Navy there for about 10 years. 1977 - 1982 and again 1995 - 98. As you sailed around Coronado Island, you past the amphibious base several times. That is where I was stationed. Anyway, I came across your channel a couple of months ago and enjoyed your journey. I went to your first video and power watched and now caught up 🎉. My wife and I are very adventurous people and I see a lot of that in you two. We don’t have a sailboat but a land yacht fifth wheel that we got After I retired from the Navy in 2003. we traveled a lot of the world while in the Navy. Medical problems now have us grounded so I travel vicariously through you two. Take care and stay safe.
Thanks for sharing your story! The road will always be there and you'll see it again. What a different experience it must've been seeing San Diego from the decks of one of these vessels. It's so full of history here and so many people from all over the world. It's like one doesn't have to travel far just to the closest city to see the world haha R
I started watching you guys around the time you poured your keel. Give or take I don’t exactly remember. Now you are anchored in my hometown where I learned to sail. That Makes it full circle for me. Thanks for all of the videos and looking to see a lot more.
Coronado is my favorite place in the country. I was fortunate enough to live a year in one of the condos across from the CYC and learned to sail by renting Capri 22s from the place next door.
Freaking Great Ep You Two! MAJOR San Diego Vibe w all that overhead and waterfront military activity going on. 😳 Been there, felt that “Going under Coronado Bridge thang”. Super. TY both for sharing. 🙌🏻👏🏻😎😘
good stuff guys with emerarld steal thankyou xx
Such a groovy video; two custom boat builders together, wow.
"It's not awkward, it's custom!" - love it. What a fantastic meetup.
Legendary!
Best comment ever hahaha
Love the edits here. You’re giving us the story and some details but not over sharing or rambling on! Chefs kiss!
Somewhere tropical and drinking a margarita...🥰🤙
That is certainly one for the logbook! Epic episode Redivivans! Jules and Suzan...wow. Thank you.
Two legendary boat building couples in one video. I'm having a happy meltdown here.
Suzie and Jules are legends, so cool you got to meet them.
Dar-nit Ruth, you can always make me tear up. The comparison between you guys and Emerald Steel just got to me! Blessed sails.
I am so happy that these wonderful people met all together.
First reaction from Holland. Enjoy guys.
Running into Emerald Steel!! What a great omen!

Stoked you ran into both the folks on Emerald and Dakota!! Such a cool little community that hangs separate but together. It’s awesome!
Amazing to see you together like that! Wow!
Wow you got to meet and spend time with Suzie and Jules, such a cool couple just like you. This was an awesome video thanks for sharing the ride.
No master paints a masterpiece without making several corrections along the way. Such is the nature of art and the making of beautiful works of art.
ES is just my favorite!!! So glad you met up with them. They are legendary!

Fascinating couple to talk with and hear. They have been a lot of places in their cruising lives so far... Cheers from Oz.

God I'm in love with this community. Take me 🙌
No, we just happened to share an anchorage!
@@SaltandTar How wilds that! Divine intervention at it's finest 🙌
There's much bonding in the cruising community.
I literally get sad when the episode ends. We binged the first couple years now it is tough to only do 20 min a week. 🤣
Emerald Steel!!!!!! Nice
i love emerald steel!
Oh wow it was nice see Emerald Steel 😊 I used to follow them religiously when they did you tube.
Way cool!
You two couples together gave me goosebumps. You are in my old home town, and we miss you back in Napa. But the beauty of cruising is exploring new places and meeting interesting people. Asta Laugeo Amigos, and thanks for bringing all of us along❣️😘
It was nice to see Emerald Steel. I realized soon into your build how much like them you were.
Loved the outtakes at the end😊
Watching the second last clip made me realise how many lineal meters of lumber you two have pushed through various machines to build that ship. It's mind boggling. Fair winds.

Hello all from Siesta Key Florida
Don't tell anyone, but we're a little bit also.

That was cool to see ya'll meet up!
Thanks to you both, I caught another sailing channel in a lie on theirs. Again, THANK YOU!
Another great one. Thanks. Loved the moment when Ruth admitted to "being annoyed." Fair winds.

Ruth has a viking-compass as a tattoo, cool! Greetings from Vikingcountry (Sweden)
Love that channel.
Lmao, stumbled on a Tiki bar she says slightly slurred. Woot woot, let the good times roll. 😂
Super great video, good luck when leaving the US
Very Cool!
So glad we have none of that bureaucracy here in Sweden when it comes to anchoring.
It's so awesome you met Julius and Susie. I'm jellyfish.

Man, oh man, Rediviva's interior is just TOP NOTCH. I mean, so is the exterior, but the time and love.
Awesome what a time :) Thank you.

No way, Emerald steel!
Love the beach cooker. lol

Learning as you go and enjoying the journey is what you guys do. Just keep moving ahead.
